Last week I decided to have Straight line Roofing do the job because of referrals from builders I had do a fantastic kitchen renovation. Ernie, the owner of Straight Line, knows his stuff and I found him interesting to talk with about a subject I have very little knowledge of. The men who installed the roof after taking off the old one, did a fantastic job. They were efficient, conscientious and super clean. They spent from 7:30 til 5pm, non-stop and did it in a day. I would certainly recommend Straight line roofing if you are looking to have a job done right.

Maine ProRoofing was actually the third contractor I contacted, the first was out of town, the…read moresecond, Erie, was a con job who wanted $45K for a mod bit rubber roof for an area of 15 squares. Mike Fox from Maine Proofing came out, walked on the roof, saw the existing patchwork and leaky vents that had been caulked some time ago. He agreed that there was enough slope for a metal roof. I chose a dark blue, standing (hidden) seam. I learned that the roofing was supplied by Maine Amish. I was happy to buy from a local source. Once the dumpster arrived, he and the crew got the job done in three days. The sheathing was intact and did not need replaced. I decided to have the shingles removed, and that was done. He and the crew installed new boots for the vent and caulked them--one of the old ones had a large hornet's inside! They installed a high temp ice and water shield over the whole roof. This was covered by a snap lock standing seam metal roof, 19 gauge, I think. They installed rake trim along the rakes and the gable ends complete with starter J channel, and Z closures at the cap installation, and used Geosill and butylene sealing tape where needed. The debris was cleaned up, at least 99%. I'm happy. I did not get the chance to borrow their ladder to take pics, but my stepson went up and confirmed that it was well done. No matter how many last minute changes I asked him to do (with literally not much time at all to get it done) he did so with a smile. He never complained and if we had annoyed him (which any sane person would have been) he never showed it. I can not thank him enough for the relentless days and nights he spent to make our dream come true! Most late nights, he worked by himself knowing his crew had families they needed to get home to. He and his wife never made us feel anything less than equals/friends. I never actually met his wife, but if Josh was unable to get to his phone if we called, she had no problem with us having their house number so she could relay messages for us. I didn't even realize how much their family was/had gone through until after Josh finished our dream and we were gloating to owners of a nearby store. Who happened to know Josh and his wife's story. The love that family has for each other even after how much his poor wife had gone through, just proves my point, Josh would bend over backwards for anyone he cared for. His wife is strong and even after we found out what she had gone through, never once complained about him working late. It is not my place to go into details but, if you haven't already had the pleasure of meeting this man., ask around. I'm sure someone will tell you their family is pure love and his work shows it! The only complaints I have is they forgot floor trim in living room and toilet is missing the snaps that go on bottom of toilet. I felt the bill was a bit on expensive side i estimated labor at a little over 200 dollars an hour for both him and his worker.
