It is so warm and inviting. The students have a meeting in the morning-with the whole school-and teachers and students are congratulated for their hard work as individuals and groups. This isn't just for those kids with the best grades but for kids who have made great progress or done kind acts as well. Its a very compassionate place. This is a diverse school and allows many opportunities for all kids. The wonderful field trips, extracurriculars, and interesting classes/lessons that are added in can really motivate kids. Learning to make pottery, playing the drums, or performing in school plays can give kids a neat push and help them learn to work towards their goals. The principal and vice principal are wonderful and really involved. They visit the classrooms and the kids know who they are. Students are encouraged to think critically. This is how all schools should be!

St Matthews Elementary located on Browns Lane has an excellent reputation! 2 of my children…read moreattended here. Now my grandson is in Kindergarten here. This is a French Language school within JCPS. Today is Tiger Trot Day! One of the biggest fundraisers for the school. St. Matthew's has several teachers that have won teacher of the year. There is an excellent music/drama department!! We are looking forward to the next 5 years here!!!
