Getting a new stone countertop for a small kitchen can be a challenge, because most stone suppliers and fabricators require that you buy an entire slab-- which can be VERY pricey! I must've gone to a dozen different places that stated that they had remnants, only to find the selection to be minimal or non-existant. Fairfax Marble in Merrifield had the widest selection of marble, quartzite, and granite remnants I've ever seen! Enes was so helpful and patient, he knew what I was looking for, and was able to zero in on many pieces for me to consider-- out of what seemed like a thousand different slabs and pieces! I found the perfect remnant for a kitchen needing only 26 sq feet of stone. Then, Enes was able to schedule measuring and templating on only a day's notice! The installation followed almost immediately afterwards. Fairfax Marble will work with you-- or your contractor-- to find just the right stone, and they'll help you plan the edges, overhang, and any cut-outs or holes that need to be made for fixtures. I would highly recommend them for any size kitchen-- but especially for the smaller kitchen where you don't want or need to spend the extra money on a whole slab that you'll never use! read more

Absolutely horrible! DO NOT USE THIS VENDOR!!! Using them was a very expensive mistake!!! Not only will you pay for the original countertops, but you will also have to keep paying for fixing leaks every few years! We had our counters done at this place after a leak. The sink was crooked to start with. For us, this was a huge investment and expense! Now, just a few years later, there is a leak between the sink and the quartz. I was told that this happens when the company used inferior adhesives to attach the sink to the countertop. When I called down to discuss this, the first guy that answered accused me of throwing heavy objects into the sink, meaning their defective work was my fault. The second guy kept telling me about his $70,000 car with peeling paint, and that I should accept their subpar workmanship! AVOID this company at any cost! read more

Bought two slabs over five years ago from this company. I was assured that this was quartzite. I specifically wanted quartzite because it has the look of marble however it is durable like granite. As you can see the slab states it is quartzite on it. I don't know if they are just, trying to dupe their customers or if they are just not knowledgeable in this field, but we have now had damage to our quartzite. When I reach out to professionals every single one states this material is not quartzite......every single one. This is a very expensive mistake. I paid at least seven to $9000 for the slabs, fabrication and install. By the way, this is the company my contractor dealt with. However, I would never recommend them again or use them. Not only that, but during install 5 years ago, we realized that there was an area that was not polished. My contractor reached out several times and to this day. It is still not polished. Extremely disappointing when you rely on the expertise of a company to provide you a product and then years later find out they weren't honest. read more

I had used Fairfax Marble & Granite a couple years ago and I was very happy with the experience. It was at their Chantilly location, the staff was friendly and informative. The technicians that come out were professional and respectful. I am in need of a vanity top for my bathroom renovation, the bathroom is small so I need a custom size. Naturally after having a positive experience previously I returned to Fairfax Marble & Granite. Unfortunately the Chantilly location closed. The following is based on the Fairfax (Merrifield) location on Dorr ave. The showroom is small and uninviting. The person who "greeted" us had no interest in helping and curtly informed us they have a $1000 minimum. After having such a good experience with the Chantilly location it was devastating to find the complete opposite here. read more

After scouting out several companies in the Northern Virginia area, we chose Fairfax Marble & Granite for our recent kitchen renovation and they did not disappoint! We absolutely loved working with Enes. He is super knowledgeable and was patient with us no matter how many times we asked to come to the showroom to take another look at all the slabs. He understood the look we wanted and gave his honest opinions, which we appreciated very much. We literally started our renovation the week before the stay-at-home orders were issued at the start of the COVID pandemic. Not only did they move quick to take out our old granite, measure, and template our slabs at a very safe distance, but the day before everything shut down, we begged them to come install our new quartz tops and they did later that night! The two guys who removed and installed did so with ease and precision. Out of everything in our new kitchen, the quartz counter gets the most compliments. The most impressive thing about this team is that we truly felt they wanted our kitchen to look as amazing as we wanted it to look. Example: the corner piece where our two slabs came together into a seam, the fabricator noticed that if we just altered the position of one of the slabs by a few inches, we could actually get a gray vein in the stone to match up to both slabs, making it look more seamless. They called to ask our permission to move it before cutting. They didn't have to do that at all. They could have just cut it and we wouldn't have noticed a thing. But they took the time to look for details like that and that just speaks to the level of customer service they provide. We are about to redo our master bathroom and we will certainly be calling Enes again for his help! read more

I did not have work completed with this company because my interactions with them left me feeling that they needed some training in professional behavior and less pressure to make sales. I sent a request for a quote on a kitchen countertop through their web site and the next day, Sunday, Warren left me a phone message saying that he was at the Home Expo and that he had two free tickets for me to meet with him. I thought that was nice, but I already had plans for that day and I didn't receive his message until late that night. I had a hectic work week and was on travel for part of it so I didn't call him back, but I expected to visit the store the following weekend. I got one more phone message that week from Warren and when I tried to call near closing time on Friday I didn't reach anyone, or get a voicemail. The next Saturday I drove to their Chantilly showroom, not realizing that they actually have two showrooms and that Warren works at the one in Fairfax. When I arrived I asked if Warren was working but Kristen (?) didn't seem to know who he was. I explained what I wanted but before we even looked at stone she gave me a non-itemized quote. She couldn't give me details on what the quote included and she seemed very young and a bit green. I just had a bad contractor experience, so that bothered me. But she was very attentive and showed me a lot of stone that I liked. After talking to my husband and based on the price Kristen quoted us we decided to go with Fairfax Marble and Granite for our countertop but to pick out a stone together. I thought that I would try to work with Warren again. I called him and his tone was completely different from his messages. He sounded bothered by me even contacting him. I finally understood got that he was at the Fairfax location, so that is where we went. When we arrived Warren was very aggressive with me. He wanted to know, why hadn't I bothered to go to the Home Expo the previous Sunday and why hadn't I called him back during the week? I was caught off guard, but explained the situation. Then I told him I had talked to Kristen earlier but I was looking for an itemized estimate to compare with my other quotes. He cut me off and said that she doesn't do sales and she doesn't know what she is doing. He said "Let's start over", shoved a clipboard in my hand to record the stones that we liked, and sent us unaccompanied down to the showroom. They really didn't have anything in our price range on the top of the stacks to see so we returned shortly and Warren wanted to know why I had told Kristen I had trouble getting in touch with him because that wasn't true! Actually, I never told her that. He said that he was just talking to her and that she realized that she had really messed up and was in tears. REALLY???!!!! He made that poor girl cry, and then bragged to me about it!? I was ready to leave but my husband still wanted an estimate. Just then older couples started showing up saying they wanted rare exotics ($$$!) so Warren *rushed* us into his office to dispense with us quickly. I told him I wanted St. Cecilia or similar. He said, "No, if you're going to sell your house then you want Ubatuba." Actually, I didn't want a black stone, I thought it was too dark. Again he cut me off and told me, "No, it's green!" Whatever color, even if it costs less, it's not what I want! He finally got it. Then I asked him about the cost of having my very large peninsula installed in one piece. Dominion Granite and Marble was going to charge me an additional $250. But he immediately said he couldn't do it at all. Okay. Then I saw that he was adding "countertop removal" to our estimate and told him that we wouldn't need that because we could remove the counters ourselves. He said, "Do you even know HOW to remove a counter top?" Really?! Then he shoved a written estimate in our hands (complete with counter top removal!) and started ushering us out the door. It was for $600 more than what Kristen had quoted me (even without counter top removal). I asked him why it was so much? Because Kristen didn't know what she was doing and had quoted us incorrectly. I asked about a free sink. No. He basically pushed us out the door as he warmly welcomed one of the waiting couples into his office. I left the store seething. I woke up in the middle of that night seething. I have never felt so abused by a salesperson in my entire life. I half expected him to call and apologize for his behavior because he was having a bad day and the other half of me hoped that he would call so that I could give him a piece of my mind. But he didn't. After posting a version of this review on Angie's List his manager (very nice) contacted me and Warren sent me a vaguely worded apology. So they get 2, instead of 1 star. read more

As of writing this review, I'm the only person who's actually had work done by Fairfax Marble... so I felt they definitely deserved a review of their services from start to finish, and it is a great one. My husband and I started a kitchen remodel project a few months ago and decided to go with granite countertops. We went to a lot of different showrooms around Northern VA. Tom Hill from Fairfax Marble was, by far, the kindest and most genuine-seeming of those I spoke to. He definitely made an impression on me, just one of those gut feelings. Most people at the other companies were nice enough- but Tom really seemed like he would go above and beyond to make sure we were happy. Fairfax Marble's quotes weren't the cheapest, but they weren't the most expensive, either. (And this isn't some house I'm going to flip and sell- I'm going to live here, and I want things done right. So of course I'm not going to just look for the cheapest, just like I wouldn't go to the cheapest eye surgeon.) I was impressed by the work I saw in the showroom, and read some other good reviews online of work they've done. At first, I did venture out into the warehouse area alone to look at slabs, but I thought that was good, since no one was following me around; there was no pressure, no one making suggestions for this or that constantly. After a little while, Tom did come out to see how I was doing and asked what I liked so far. My husband and I searched high and low for just the right slabs (we ended up getting them from Fairfax Marble's sister company). When we were almost ready to install, we arrived at the showroom just about a half an hour before they closed so we could look at the countertop layout. Tom and the two guys doing the layout stayed over an hour past closing (AND brought me snacks when I asked if they had a vending machine in the showroom!), and worked with us until we had the best possible layout with the material we had picked. Today the countertops were installed and the guys who came to do it did a fantastic job. They had to make a few adjustments, and pointed those things out and asked my opinion of everything- it was very simple and smooth and straightforward. We went back and forth countless times from Quartz to Marble to Quartzite, and back again to Quartz. Paul was always patient and helpful and spent the time to show us everything we wanted to see so that we were sure to get it right. Once we finally made a final decision, we switched again! And Paul patiently helped us find the perfect countertop. When we did make the final, final decision, the counters were measured and the tops installed in less than a week. Like other reviews here, I also felt their customer service left a lot to be desired. I did purchase my countertop from them as I couldn't find the marble I wanted anywhere else. However, I felt like I was buying a used car. The first time I went to their showroom, no one helped me at all. It was almost like they were doing me a favor. This exercise was absolutely a solo effort. Thank goodness my contractor knows what he is doing. They also didn't give me any information about the sink that I was supposed to purchase. When installation time finally came, they gave me a window during the workday (which I understood and was fine with), so I made arrangements to work from home and have my toddler son remain at daycare so he wouldn't be in their way. They arrived three hours late -- three hours past their window, when I was trying to bath my son and get him to bed. The next morning I had arranged for my contractor to come and install the kitchen plumbing. They did, and they found that the installers had not drilled enough holes in the countertop (despite having had the facet in their hands to look at). So the plumbing could not be installed. Of course this was on a weekend. I called Fairfax granite and marble and was told their installers didn't work on Saturdays, so they couldn't come back until Monday. I told them I would cancel my check, so amazingly they found someone to come out and drill the remaining holes. Although the countertop is beautiful, if you can find another company that has what you want, I would avoid this place. They are not professional. read more

So very happy with my beautiful new Granite countertops!! Fairfax Marble and Granite made the whole process super easy. My first visit to their shop was just to look at granite. Their selection is probably the best in Northern VIrginia! Mr. Fazli was so patient with me in showing me the vast selection. Although the showroom was busy, I received great customer service. We were searching for the right color granite for our countertops. We went almost 6-7 different granite places in the area. No one had the color we are looking for. Then we went to Fairfax Marble & Granite . As soon as we enter the slab showroom we saw the difference... they have tons of different colors of granite in their stock, specially exotic colors.Some of the colors are we never see at the other places. Then we choose "Golden Roma". The staff was great, they move several slabs for us.They were very patient , the sales person was great ,wasn't pushy. The prices also good. The measurement guy Ben was great, very helpful, answered all our questions. After the final measurement they called us back to do the lay-out on the stone, we layed-out the pieces on the two slabs with our sales rep. This was the fun part. Installers were very professional. My wife and I used Fairfax Marble and Granite primarily because they imported their own slabs and had what were looking for after having been disappointed by Marble Systems a major stone importer across the street. Our salesman Tom Hill was low key but very helpful. We did the layout together and he guided us to pick the best parts of the slab. When the installers delivered the wrong slab for our island, Tom fixed the problem right away. Their price was middle of the road, but the quality of the product and installation was top notch. I stopped by Fairfax Marble & Granite about a month ago to look for granite for my counter tops. A very unfriendly man (John Frandsen) greeted me, asked a few random questions, then gave me a clip board and sent me solo to go look at slabs. I wrote down several that I liked and made it clear that I wanted an estimate for those slabs. In his office, I gave him the sketch of my countertops with measurements which he copied and told me he'd have the manager give me a quote before the end of the day. He gave me a card and I haven't heard from them since. I even wrote an email asking about the estimate I was promised to no avail. It was no sweat to me because I'm not about to beg for anyone's services - I simply moved on. But, the service was so poor and a bit strange that I felt compelled to Yelp about it. I thought in this economy, customer service would have ramped up but perhaps they do enough commercial business or work with architects and they could care less about folks that walk into their show room...? read more

Fairfax Marble and Granite provided us with new granite counter tops in our kitchen, to replace the old formica and wood countertops that were installed many years ago. This involved careful measurement and planning to remove and re-install our gas cooktop/vent and sinks and dishwasher. Paul, our design consultant worked with us every step of the way and made the process efficient, thoughtful and precise. He helped us choose the right slabs, worked to make the best use of the flow/color of the granite and efficient use of the slabs. The installers were superb - highly skilled, careful, hard-working and extremely neat and clean. It was not an easy installation, but they arrived exactly on time and, when they left at the end of the day, the kitchen was spotless and beautiful. I would highly recommend them!!! There customer service is outstanding and so is there talent - and they were less expensive than their competitors. read more

My husband and I couldn't have had a more pleasant experience working with Fairfax Marble and Granite than the one we experienced when selecting granite for our kitchen in Potomac, MD. We visited about a half dozen other shops in the metro area (DC, VA & MD). Basically, they all simply told us to look at their slabs and let them know which one or ones we liked. They were all understaffed and seemed as though they couldn't be bothered. Our experience at Fairfax Marble and Granite however was completely different. The salesperson who helped us (his name was Fazli), walked us around and explained to us the difference between each of the different slabs we liked. He told us about their country of origin, their strength (soft versus hard), prices, etc. When we asked if we could possibly view some other slabs other than the ones that were readily visible, he gladly had his crew move slabs around so that we could see the other alternative slabs. He also offered to move the slabs from inside to outside so that we could see them in the natural light (and we took him up on his offer) and he even lined up all the different slabs we liked next to each other so that we could compare them side by side. Having the ability to view the slabs side by side was extremely helpful. No other showroom offered to do this which meant we had to continuously run back and forth from one aisle to another to try to compare them. It's very difficult to compare the different slabs unless you can actually get to see them next to each other. We visited Fazli at least five or six times before we finally made a decision and each visit we had him moving slabs all over the place. My husband is fussy and super picky (a real pain in the ass). Nevertheless, each time we visited the showroom they gladly moved slabs around to accommodate us and even seemed delighted to do so. Once we finally selected the granite which we fell in love with (Typhoon Bordeaux-Night), Fazli helped us decide which areas of the slab would look best for our kitchen island, which for the counter, the sink area, etc. and made templates right on our slab so we could see what each piece would look like. By the way, the other showrooms we visited all told us that our large island would have to be made out of two pieces instead of only out of one piece because of the cut out for our cooktop. This meant we would have to have a seam in our island which we really didn't want. Fazli was the only one who said it could be done in one piece without any seams and this really clinched the deal. We scheduled the installation. The installation crew showed up right on time as promised (which almost never happens), and they did a great job and were extremely neat, clean, and meticulous. I wouldn't buy my granite or marble from anyone else, period! Fazli is a true professional. Oh, and yes, their pricing was very competitive and even included a free large high quality sink!
