Before I start my review, one of the review with one star clearly is a competitor. How are you going to place a review for a service you did not received. Yelp, please get your ish together. After shopping around (Home Depot, Lowes, mom-pop stores etc.) for quotes, my husband and I felt uneasy ... not because of the price but it seems we were begging the sales consultants (whatever they are called) for their business. Also, we had a specific time-frame that we want everything to be done which is one month to fully renovate the entire ground floor (floors, paint, cabinets, counter top etc.). Feeling discouraged, we stopped by at Counter Culture since we drive past there for many years! We were greeted by Omar followed by Solomon and Amber (I believe that is her name) and let me tell you; we instantly feel a positive vibe around them. All 3 took their time helping us out picking out the "perfect" granite that would go with our gray-modern theme. Solomon walked us step-by-step by going through each line item on the invoice, where to go to pick out our countertop and what to expect. They are extremely responsive, accommodating (we ran into an issue that we had to change our install date), professional and definitely know their stuff. They clearly love what they do! We hired this company just to drill a hole in our granite counter top, in order for us to install a filtered water faucet. (There was some confusion about the cost of the hole -- we though they said it would cost $50; they later said it was supposed to be $75. Not really relevant to this review.) While drilling the hole, the workers plugged an old and non-grounded vacuum into a kitchen outlet, causing an electrical short which was bad enough to actually char the exterior of the outlet. Concerned about a potential fire hazard, we quickly asked our trusted electrician to come look at it, and he confirmed the outlet was ruined and that it was at least a potential fire hazard. We had him replace the outlet, which cost $150. When informed of the problem, Counter Culture ("Amber") said, "okay, we'll just call it even" and not charge you for the hole. (The hole seems fine, for whatever it's worth, apart from the company shorting out the outlet with their faulty equipment and causing damage that cost 2 to 3 times more than the hole, and then calling it "even.") read more

I would recommend this company to anyone. The atmosphere in the shop is friendly and helpful and the work was completed within two weeks of the first thought. The price was good, they were flexible with a few changes to the original estimate and the installers could not have been more efficient or polite. We had an awesome experience with Counter Culture from the original sales with Solomon (Handled completely online/phone due to social distancing during COVID-19), suggestions on how I could easily and simply correct a height difference with my range and cabinet tops, to templating (they used a very high tech laser measuring device) to installation (despite heavy rainfall). The measurement and installation were spot on perfect and the quality was all that I could hope for. They prioritized and expedited as fast as they could considering a huge construction slowdown in early days of COVID. We went with a very cool matte soft almost leathered black/grey quartz called CaesarStone Black Tempal and it couldn't be more elegant and perfect with our white shaker style cabinetry. I shopped around to about 5 counter top dealers and focused on quality and value/price. Counter Culture was 5 star in all regards. read more

It's been over 7 weeks and there is still a strong smell coming from under my sink! I have washed it down 3 times to no avail. The ordering and measuring went well the installation and plumbing were another story. Dishwasher parts disposed of, delay in plumbing and it appeared the son not the main plumber did all the work. That may be why it still smells. read more

Every part of them has been incredible. I called them and talked out options with them, and then I walked in there at 5:59 (ugh traffic in DC) and they treated me like I wasn't there a minute before they closed. Amber, Solomon, Omar, and the other lady (I'm drawing a blank on her name) were INCREDIBLE. I only needed a small scrap for a small breakfast bar and they treated me like I was buying enough granite for a huge kitchen renovation. They took time to try to help compliment the granite that's in my kitchen and sent me several options of scraps they had over. They even sent Omar our to asses the space on a Saturday morning, and installed it in less than a week. I'm floored. Next time I need anything, I'm going to them. We found Counter Culture after another retailer sold our stone that had been saved for us. We were looking for stone remnants for two bathrooms. As compared to the massive store in an industrial park of the other retailer, we did not know what to expect with Counter culture as they are located on a busy street with a small store front. However, Counter Culture hits above their weight class! Sol greeted us and listened carefully to our needs. We wanted natural stone, remnants in our budget, and something unique. We then walked together a block down to their warehouse. That's where CounterCulture went above and beyond. We felt like Sol climbed, moved, and showed us every stone that could possibly describe what we wanted. When we weren't able to decide, Sol gave us a sample of one of the stones to take back to our place so that we can think about it. We went back to Counter Culture again the following week after deciding the sample didn't work in the space. Sol once again climbed what felt like every remnant until we found the perfect piece. Counter Culture had excellent customer service. They communicated well with us regarding pictures of potential pieces, specs after we chose our pieces, and install information. As far as pricing, Counter Culture was on par with the other retailer. They also worked with our expedited schedule for fabrication and install. Signed a contract three weeks ago for installation of a marble vanity countertop and paid a 50% deposit of $580. The installers were scheduled to come today between 8 and 11 am. They were a no-show, with no phone call to me. After two phone calls to Counter Culture, Saul called me back and said the installers had had to go back to a job they did yesterday that had a problem. Saul said the installers would not be coming out to me today. Saul offered no explanation for why no one had called me to inform me they would not be coming out to day. Saul offered that they would come out tomorrow (a Saturday) instead, but he said he could not guarantee the installer would show up at an appointed time. I said to cancel the contract and issue me a full refund, and he agreed. Just to be safe, because I have no reason to trust this company, I have disputed the $580 charge with the credit card issuer. I would not recommend doing business with this company. read more
