I was scheduled for a PET/CT at Fairfax Radiological Consultants, and my insurance had already approved prior authorization for the test. The day before the exam, I was told I would need to sign a financial waiver stating the test might be "non-covered / not medically necessary / experimental," and that I could be responsible for the entire cost (over $6,000) in order to proceed. This created unnecessary distress and confusion. With an active authorization in place, being asked to sign a document that appears to shift full financial liability to the patient--at the last minute--felt like pressure rather than informed consent. I contacted my insurance, and they advised me not to sign such a waiver because it could effectively waive insurance benefits for an authorized service. I'm sharing this so other patients coming for expensive imaging understand that they need to confirm coverage directly with their insurer and ask exactly what they are being asked to sign and why. I would strongly encourage Fairfax Radiology to improve their financial consent workflow for pre-authorized exams so patients are not put in this position right before a medically important study. read more

DO NOT USE THIS PRACTICE! I have tried to pay a bill numerous times for several days now and their online system is not working. I have called numerous times and get people in Kenya who want me to give them my credit card number over the phone. That is not going to happen. I called the corporate office and the woman I spoke with was abrupt and rude and said the bill can only be paid by giving a credit card over the phone! Unscrupulous and Indecent Billing! I want to say first that the technicians and staff at Fairfax Radiology in Landsdowne are wonderful and I am saddened that they are associated with a business with such indecent and unscrupulous billing practices. And that is the only reason this place is getting more than one star After a mammogram, ultrasound, and double biopsy I received a large bill so I called to get set up on a payment plan. I opted to have the payments withdrawn from my HSA knowing deposits would be made from our paychecks bi-weekly. Four months after setting up on the payment plan (and four months after getting regular statements saying to "Pay according to payment plan" and indicating that NOTHING was amiss) I get a letter from a collections company for a balance due. Apparently, two payments had been missed and I had no idea because I received no call, no letter, or no indication on my MONTHLY statements. Yes, this was my responsibility but I didn't realize that that there was an issue with my HSA. Had I known, or been given a chance to resolve the issue, I would have happily given them a different account. When I called to speak to someone to see about getting it removed from collections and asking why I did not receive a letter I was told by billing that they are not there to "babysit" me and that they don't send out letters or call. When I explained that my monthly statements showed nothing wrong and told me to continue to pay according to my payment plan with no indication of missed payments, she agreed that it WAS in fact confusing and said she would look into it and call me back. Then nothing. A week later when I called back for an update, I got the pleasure of talking to another gem of a human who, again, didn't care. And didn't think it is a problem when a customer isn't notified that a payment has failed to go through. Just beware. This company will not HESITATE to send you to collections quickly and with NO notice. read more

This place has gone so far downhill. They practically ripped a vein out of my arm putting in contrast dye (I take a lot of needles and have had this procedure done many times. All time worst. And now you have to wait up to two weeks for results. If you are trying to get treatment for cancer organized, this is deadly. Also, their billing sytem is wacky and you can be charged much, much more at their INOVA site. The only thing the patient portal is good for is asking for payments (my insurance pays 100 percent so I don't need this function.) I have switched my brain MRIs to the far superior Medstar system. read more

Fairfax Radiological Physicians and staff are great and diligent. Unfortunately, they are not Tri-Care providers, but they imply they are TriCare certified, support active duty and veterans, and will not have issues filing a TriCare claim. They do not tell you that billing will not file a claim correctly with Tricare even after a request from the patient, leaving the patient to pick up the rest of the claim not covered by Tricare, even on services regularly covered in full by Tricare. Basely during a very stressful time for many patients. they reassure you that everything will be fine with your claim, but in reality, you are left holding the bill for the services. Don't worry; they will send you to collections for payment ASAP, telling you they are certified and support the military community. read more

Even when I select the call back message, it does not trigger a call back. I called the office directly where we got the service done (Fairfax). My insurance plan would cover it 100% if the bill information was done correctly. But the bill date was wrong and the service was not stated as emergency service. The wrong bill made the conversation very difficult but the bill service did not seems to care, instead of solving any problem they created, wrong billing information (service date and type of service) they sent my bill to a debt collection company without any notification and that forced me to paid what should be 100% coved by the insurance company. read more

The work that the technicians at Fairfax Radiology in Herndon are outstanding. I am very disappointed in FRC's administrative process and handling of customer complaints. I had a CT scan and inquired well in advance about my copay. I was informed that the person who takes care of that would contact me prior to the appointment. No one did. I went to the appointment and there was no information on my copay. I get a bill after the procedure which was higher than expected. I sent 3 emails and never got an FRC acknowledgment. Fearful that they had not received it, I called and they confirmed receipt. I asked for an explanation of why no one informed me in advance and got an unsatisfactory response. I asked to speak to a supervisor. The gentleman said he would have the supervisor contact me. A week later no call. read more

I went for a cardiac MRI and the experience was pleasant for what it's worth. Check-in was quick and the wait time to be seen was under 5 min. I was greeted with a smile by Quake as he was very friendly and professional while inserting my IV. I was then escorted to a dressing room to put on my gown. I was able to leave my belongings in there and was provided with a key. The techs were all friendly and kept me at ease and relaxed. Very state of the art, clean and gorgeous facility. The MRI itself is very loud and I had to hold my breath on and off for an hour for the heart scans. It was not fun but it had to be done! After the MRI, I was provided with a CD of the images. read more

If you are at high risk for breast cancer due to family history of Triple Negative Breast cancer, don't try to schedule your second yearly screening exam because you'll always have someone asking you to do a second mammogram first, even if you already had one and don't need to get it done 6 months prior to the second screening. Their phone service won't reply to you fast. I'm always waiting for 20 minutes to 30 minutes and when I finally get someone the representative retransfers my call to scheduling service. If you have a cancer, you could go undetected with them because they don't have qualified staff to answer the phone. Don't schedule with them. Find a different place. They have too many protocols going on or maybe it's bad training. They make it impossible for you to schedule and check out quickly if you have cancer. read more

Based on other reviews, I see that I am not the only victim of their fraudulent policy. I provided my health insurance at the time of my ER visit and all the other providers/facilities billed me for their services. FRC, on the other hand, put WRONG ADDRESS on my account and failed to bill my insurance in a timely manner. They then sent the bill to the wrong address 4 times before sending my account to collections. Did I say this was back in 2015? Apparently their policy changed in October of 2018 so they didn't even bother to let me know about this issue until now when I tried to make an appointment. When I emailed patient relations, I was directed to the supervisor named LaShawn who is extremely rude and absolutely incompetent. Three days post hip replacement surgery. I wake up to severe swelling in my foot/ankle of the replacement side. I call my ortho who tells me to go get an ultrasound to rule out any blood clots. They referred us to Fairfax Radiology in Lansdowne. I call in and am told they are busy, but due to the circumstances they can get me in at 3:45. My wife and I show up at 3:45 and after about 20 minutes of waiting we are told that they can't get us in today, but to come back tomorrow morning. No chance in hell that i will go back to them or refer anyone to them. read more

After the first annual mammography, Fairfax Radiology did not leave me alone until they were forced me to make another one. After the second, they said that "something hides there" and began to attack me with an offer to make a biopsy. I was intimidated and made an appointment. After that, I called to their finance department to find out the total price for payment, because my insurance company does not cover the biopsy. On the day of the biopsy, I once again clarified the cost and completely covered the total price. As a result, nothing was found, but I received several more bills by mail. I paid for the work of the laboratory (about which no one warned me), but did not pay for some additional service from the Fairfax Radiology. I called the finance department several times, asked to resolve the issue, make me some kind of offer. But all that I received is a few more times to get that bill, and then a call from collectors. At the bill of less than $ 200! So, if you do not want to be ripped off, stay away from Fairfax Radiology. read more

Medically they are fine, but their billing is terrible and won't help you at all. Had a glitch with Insurance coverage and they flatly refused to refile the claim once the glitch was resolved. Dishonest schedulers at Fairfax Radiology. Several weeks ago, I scheduled a mammogram. I am 66. I asked for the first appointment of the day, even if it meant waiting for awhile. They offered me an 8:45 appointment about 10 days out. I reminded her I wanted the appointment of the day. She said 8:45 was the first appointment of the day. So yesterday, the aide showed me to the dressing room to change, and told me she would come get when when the other patient finished. I said I had explicitly asked for the first appointment of the day for safety reasons. She assured me she would be wiping everything down. I said that was not the point. I had asked for the first appointment of the day for safety reasons, and no matter how much she wipes things down that doesn't do anything for the viral aerosols lingering in the air. When I got home, I called the patients relations number and received a message machine. I left a detailed message registering my complaint. It's been more than 24 hours, and I have not received a return call. Big surprise, I guess. Honesty is important to me. Time to find a new radiologist. read more

I cannot express how horrible the customer service is! They are beyond frustrating. I am a traveling Veteran from California who was seen in an emergency situation. They have been sending my bill to the wrong VA office, so I call them with the correct information. Not only will they not accept the corrected address, they refuse to call or use the corrected address. The only way this can get corrected is by the VA office calling them.... Ok- this is really backwards, I spoke to their "Supervisor" who wasn't very friendly telling me this is their policy and they won't correct the address or call.... According to the "Supervisor" I have to contact the VA to call them so they can request the bill for payment? So I confirmed, you want me to call the VA to call you so they can give you the same address that I have in my hands?? Yes- it is there policy! So I call the VA and while I am on the phone with the VA Rep we call and leave a message because NO ONE ANSWERED the phone. A few days latter I get a robo call telling me to call them! I call and they don't have record of the voicemail, but are still insistent that I need to call the VA to call them?? They are not helping me help them to get paid! The length of the appointment itself was longer than expected, that's case by case. The waiting room was well stocked with tissues and sanitizer. The staff was professional and attentive. read more
