Don't know how long it's been open, but it's in a rather desolate area - Prairie Crossing, according to all the "Coming soon" signs posted about advertising new businesses/hotels/strip plaza to come. The inside lobby is very spacious with plenty of seating. A full bar to the right as you walk in (I'm assuming this is due to the sparse amenities around this hotel's freeway exit), more seating to the left (close to the breakfast alcove, and a nice big welcome desk to check in. I did take a peek at the indoor pool. It was nice and clean, towels folded in places in on wooden shelves, even had a left for ADA compliance which was a nice surprise. Our room was fluffin' huge! Based on the size, I think we were put in a handicap accessible room, but I'm not positive, as there wasn't anything outwardly saying "Hi, welcome to your ADA room"; even the bathroom had a tub, not a roll-in shower. At any rate, the room was clean and looked brand new, so obviously no complaints here! The nightly price was great ($95), and the morning included continental breakfast was pretty darn great, too. Your typical scrambled eggs and sausage patties, hot oatmeal, apples, and bananas, but it was nice to see a steam tray with tortillas and sausage gravy for breakfast tacos. I definitely recommend this La Quinta if you're looking for a place to stay on the west side of Des Moines. To get to this building, it is a bit convoluted, so pay attention to your phone/GPS. Easy access to/from I-80, a decent amount of parking, brand new, good price-point, you can't beat it.

Second year in a row at this place for a conference…read more All our food during the conference was very good. Better than most conference buffets I have had. The staff was friendly. The bartenders made great Old Fashioneds in the Photo Finish Lounge. Our room was clean and comfortable. The downside to being here the first part of the week, sometimes the bar and the main restaurant are not open.

It's also not too far from the airport and state capitol and it's right next to the theme park- Adventureland you can see the ride lights as you driving in the parking lot of the hotel. 1-Star Review only because I had to get somewhat of a star to get past this point…read more Absolute biohazard hellhole. In a span of 20 minutes, we were bounced through three different rooms because the first was so humid the sheets and blankets were literally wet and reeking, the second was crawling with mold, and the third was infested with bedbugs and pee sheets. On top of that, the carpets are filthy, unvacuumed, and the hallways look like they haven't seen a maid in a year. Language barrier aside (which makes staff completely useless for help), they are quick at one thing: theft. While we were dealing with the room chaos, they tried to steal an expensive item left in a suitcase during a room change. Reli had to chase down the employee running down the hallway with it. They knew who we were and what room we transferred to. We weren't even out of that room yet. To top it all off, we were told we wouldn't be charged, but they rammed the charge through anyway on a card that was only supposed to be used to hold the room ignoring the card I actually checked in with. That unauthorized charge bounced my payment and landed me with a cascade of overdraft fees and late penalties and bounced payments from other bills. Pictures of the bedbugs, mold, and wet, peed in sheets are attached to my Google review so everyone can see what a garbage-fire this place is. Avoid at all costs. I have pictures and when I showed the front desk, their jaw dropped and they said "oh my goodness that's horrible" There is no way on God's green earth that they have a 4.2 star review of Goole.... They have to be soliciting reviews from employees family members... When I say this place is horrible just think of the worst experience you've ever had and times that by three... because we've had it three times in a row the same trip all under 20 minutes. DO NOT COME HERE. Since then I was told that they will not give me a refund Because I left a Google review. I was told by the manager Tiffani that the owner was angry that my points had been restored and that my Google review caused or contributed to the decision that I would not receive my refund. If the refund decision was affected in any way by my public review, that is extremely concerning. That I have "done damage". I'll show them damage, there were 6 of us and we each plan on telling the truth and leaving a review on every platform available to us to WARN PEOPLE. The owner has hotels all over, AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!! Even the manager at this particular hotel told me they never refund their guests, as she stayed at another location the same weekend and had 2 bad rooms and they refused her a refund.. That's how they treat their employees, imagine how they treat their guests. AND WE ARE DIAMOND MEMBERS!!! A customer should not have to choose between receiving a legitimate refund and remaining silent about serious conditions experienced at a hotel. I have since escalated this to Lawrence (Larry) Cuculic, Michael Morton, Chad Fletcher and Wendy Ferrill at BWH Hotels and plan to contact the BBB, health and human services and so on. DO NOT STAY HERE. We purchased cancellation insurance through the app paid for it and everyone I spoke to if they've never heard of that. CROOKS

I've never wrote a negative review for a hotel before now. Like a previous review said, you have 3…read moreminutes for the time you receive your keys to get a refund. It's not possible to park get your bags, get to the room and find it's not been cleaned in 3 mins. That was our experience see pictures attached. The front desk guy came up checked to make sure our room was in fact not cleaned. He then unlocked the room next door peaked in to make sure it was clean then told us to take that room. No apologies nothing, just walked out. The rooms smell of cigarette smoke and a musky scent. The hallways had trash all over them and looked like a vacuum hadn't been used in months. The next morning we found we had no bath towels, my husband went to the desk to ask for some and no one was around. He ended up finding an open laundry closet and grab us 4. The towels were so small and worn out we ended up going to Walmart to buy bath towels, shampoo, body wash and a large candle to cover the smell of the room. The security doors either didn't shut or they were always propped open. The only good thing about the motel was the brand new refrigerator and the water pressure. We will not be staying there again when in town for the State Fair.
