Woke up to TWO very large blood stains in the shape of hand prints on the wall of the handicap bathroom we were assigned AND HAIR in my sausage gravy; Spoke with Christy Dockery regarding the issues only to receive a nonchalant response regarding the cleanliness of the property and lack of regard for customer satisfaction. She also mentioned that she was unable to see the second VERY NOTICEABLE blood-hand print on the wall which should make any guest concerned about their eye for detail. Issues like these start from the top and Ms Dockery was filled with way more excuses than resolutions. read more

The staff is very kind and pleasant. They are even kind enough to provide some type of breakfast for you even during a pandemic which I thought was awesome. The bed is super comfy and if you need a shuttle to and/or from the airport to the hotel they have that! I wouldn't recommend getting a first floor room that's kind of close to the lobby because I could hear a lady talking so loud at 10pm and at 3am. Its like it echos or something. The walls are kind of thin as I could hear my next door neighbors but it wasn't like they were trying to be loud, that was just them talking. I could also hear the person above me walking around at midnight. Next time I'll ask for a 3rd floor room please and maybe it'll be better. The customer service was great. The nice man at the "front desk" was helpful and kind. He could tell I was frustrated and he always stayed calm and collected which helped me calm down a bit. What I am upset about is that they are under construction and getting into the hotel was a nightmare. I have three children and I was by myself and we arrived late in the night PLUS it was sleeting rain ... and when the reservation was made online there was nothing about the place being under construction, which there should be!!!!! While the hotel was ok the Marriott policy is to price match lower rates found on other sites. After I checked in I found Hotels.com listing the same room here for much less. Tried to submit their "best rate guarantee" form but there was a problem with the form and it would not take the information it requested. Notified Marriott customer service who a day later sent me an email address to contact their "best rate guarantee" department. I followed their rules and tried to submit the form within 24 hours of booking and notified their customer service right away that the web site would not accept the information since it took them an extra day to reply back to me their "best rate guarantee" representative Kendra J informed me I was past the 24 hour submission window so she was denying the claim. read more

We spent one short night here between two flights, great location a couple miles from the airport, brand new facilities (or at least that's how it feels), friendly staff, and great rooms. The rooms are small studios with a kitchenette, a desk/work space, and a nice roomy shower. Cold breakfast is served as early as 4am, and hot breakfast starts at 6am. Really good short visit to the TownePlace Suites this weekend. This appears to be a new property as everything is new and up todate. Clean rooms and spacious. We had breakfast and it was a nice surprise as compared to the Fairmount we stayed at the previous 6 days in Orlando, the food was actually not bad. We all enjoyed our stay. The only issue was the road noise. It was quite noticeable both at night as well as the morning. If you stay here get a room away from the highway it might be a quieter stay. This place is okay. We were booked in a 2 queen bedroom instead of a king. And we were put right next to the ice machine and every one was getting ice all night! It's not that clean. We had last minute reservations for four rooms tonight. Upon arrival the woman working the front desk was surly, unwelcoming, and all around a displeasure to be in the presence of. After we got the room cards, we weren't directed to a particular elevator and missed the small sign showing a separate elevator in another section of the hotel. After finding the room numbers we had didn't exist, we returned the the lobby to be rudely told that there are signs we chose to ignore that showed the direction to go for the correct elevator. This could have all been avoided had we simply been pointed the correct direction from the get go. After we rounded the corner and headed to the correct elevator, we heard the front desk clerk telling two guests who were checking in how some people are too stupid to read the obvious signs. read more

My dad and I stayed here for one night before our road trip back to California begun. There was a small parking lot but no issues with parking. The staff here at the front desk were both nice and helpful. The lobby area was small and had the market to buy food or toiletries. Our room had two queen beds and had a lot of the standard hotel things like a TV, microwave and refrigerator. The room was clean from what I saw and the bed was comfortable. We heard somebody snoring next to our room so the walls were thin or they were just super loud. Overall, this was a good hotel and close to the airport. read more

We quite enjoyed our stay here. The lobby was very clean and updated. The bedroom has very comfortable beds, but the pillows were the marshmallow kind you sink into with no firmness at all. That was sort of a bummer, but they gave us a few extra, so that was nice. The pool Was clean and very enjoyable. Breakfast was great, lots of fresh fruit, fresh hot eggs and sausage. Waffles and biscuits and gravy. My only complaint is the bathroom was a little on the sketchy side, the tile was gross and the wallpaper dirty looking, but not enough to deter from the overall enjoyment of the stay. Requested early checkin. Got to hotel at 12:30 couldn't check in, no biggee we went to lunch instead. Came back an hour later and room still wasn't ready. No prob, we just hung out in the lobby for 30 min till they got the room ready. Front desk lady sat afternoon was very nice and tried her best to get the next avail room for us. Got into room and started unpacking. Floor seemed somewhat damp in areas which was a little gross. Tried to lay down to relax when I noticed a little blood stain on the pillow. Called the front desk and they brought a new one. Was here for worlds of fun and legends shopping so we tried to find marriott property halfway between both. Prob won't stay here again. Too far out of way with nothing available nearby. It was cheap and included breakfast so it seemed logical. Overall it was ok. read more

Had high hopes for my first time staying here as I frequent MCI. It was a rough night. Dried blood on my comforter and a non-working shower. The receptionist wasn't too impressed with my weariness the next morning. When the shuttle left without me but took my luggage, it was the cherry on my poop morning. Just walked in the room. First thing I notice is a strange smell. Not overpowering. Not anything that I recognize. But it was there and persistent. The wife hasn't asked me to ask for another room... Yet... But I'm sure it's coming. The staff was friendly though. Also the hotel is going through renovation. So things are a bit messy (as expected) in the lobby. I could have just cut and paste my other Fairfield reviews here but this one is a bit nicer than the others I have stayed in. Much more modern in terms of furnishings, TV, linens etc. The only drawback is that it isn't terribly close to dining. They are nice to provide guests with an extensive album of menus and local suggestions. Smokebox BBQ is off of the Tiffany Springs exit (toward KC). That would be my suggestion. If you want better than decent BBQ go to Smokehouse BBQ. They are a much "fancier" place than Smokebox. They are in the Zona Rosa Plaza off of NW Barry (just a bit past the Tiffany exit). read more

This hotel is fine, though I seriously question the $130/night price tag. Pros: - They have little snack bar at check-in, which was great since I couldn't get dinner before I left SFO and it was 11:30 PM when I arrived to the hotel. - The hotel and rooms were clean. - It had a pool/hot tub, though I didn't use it. - Lots of channels on the TV. - The breakfast was really tasty and substantial. - The airport shuttle was really fast. Cons: - The hotel is a bit dated, and needs a renovation. The bathrooms have older tile, and the rooms are kind of small. - The mattress was fine. But at this price point, you can usually get one of those awesome new hilton/marriott/westin beds. Considering many business travelers will just expense wifi and breakfast, the bed has to be one of the major selling points. - The wifi was slow. - The desk chair was ridiculously uncomfortable, making me work on the bed (in the end, not that big of a deal). I'd probably stay here again, though I'd definitely look into staying at the Liberty Hampton Inn again if I arrived on an earlier flight. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by our stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites. We arrived after midnight, after flying back from California, and decided we didn't want to drive back to Springfield so late. We might have woken up the night desk clerk, but she was perfectly pleasant and quickly checked us in. The bed was *very* comfortable - I was worried that the blankets provided would not keep us warm enough, but the heat was set perfectly so we were neither too hot nor cold. The shower-head was HIGH up, which was good for Boo (I am 5'2" so I don't care) and the shampoo/conditioner were of high quality. The breakfast (which finished at 9 am, we arrived around 8:40) was very good, and had many different options, including sausage patties, biscuits and gravy, scrambled and hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, and muffins. Several kinds of cereal as well, so I think there was really something for everyone. Oh! There were also waffles, which the attendant offered to fix for us. read more

My wife and I were visiting Kansas City for the first time over the 4th of July weekend. We were able to arrive for an early check-in, and we even received a free room upgrade. Our room was beautifully clean, though I admit the dilapidated yellow hotel next door was the only very slight knock on the view from our room. Anyhow, we were very happy with everything overall. The free breakfast each morning was pretty good, the fitness room was very small, but it gets the job done. They also even had laundry facilities if you needed to wash your clothes. Oh, I almost forgot...we liked the pool; however the staff needs to do a better job of ensuring the dead bugs are cleaned up. We didn't notice how many there were until we were leaving the pool. There's an access door from the pool to a small patio, so my guess is that's how the bugs get in. Regardless, this should be cleaned up on a regular basis. Anyhow, not only were the front-desk staff great, the housekeeping staff was awesome as well, and very nice. Overall, we loved the room, enjoyed the easy access to all the shopping, food, and local highways, and the entire experience. Rest assured we will be back here next time we come to KC (just make sure the dead bugs are cleaned up around the pool!). read more

This location met my needs for comfort and amenities except for one. Earlier in the month I stayed at a Fairfield in TN. The rooms all had smart TV's. I could watch my own Netflix account and not mess around with the always questionable entity known as hotel Wi-Fi. This location should look into upgrading to smart TV's in all the rooms AND have Google Fiber provide network services. Aside from no smart TV, this was a comfortable location. read more

Why on earth are people giving this place bad reviews? I could not say enough good about this hotel! I booked a block of about 20 rooms, sight unseen, for out-of-town guest for my wedding. It was the closest hotel I could get to the wedding venue in Weston, and they offered a free shuttle to/from the airport and Zona Rosa, which was important to me because I had several guests flying into town. The rooms are on the smaller side, but modern and clean. Flat-panel TV's, comfy beds, lots of pillows, fridge and microwave in the room. I went to a luncheon there one day and got to see the hotel and was impressed with what I saw! Also, after our stay, something that was pointed out to me later....no airplane noise. Not once did I hear an airplane take off or land, and we were practically on airport property. They offer complimentary hot breakfast, there's books and board games in the lobby, should the mood hit, and a computer that offers internet. There's also a little convenience store type area that offers everything from magazines to hot pockets. The hotel also offers an indoor swimming pool and hot tub. (A negative is that there isn't, as far as I know, an ice machine on every floor. The only one I found was by the front desk, and I stayed on the top floor. Not cool.) All the front desk workers were helpful and considerate. They answered questions, remembered our names, and were friendly and patient. When problems arose, they fixed them. Even when one room had trouble with the cable, they were offered a free first-run movie instead. Stellar customer service! All my guests had good things to say about the hotel, and the rate we were given. But the reason I gave this place five stars is for Jeannie Schmidt. She was the sales coordinator that I worked with to book the rooms and she was amazing! I know she works for group sales, but she went waaay above and beyond what she needed to do to make sure our stay was great! I had trouble booking a shuttle for guests to the venue, she took over, negotiated a contract, and made sure they showed up on time. I had one friend try to book a room too late, she got them into the block anyways. People who booked rooms, but didn't mention the wedding (after she talked with me and we got names straightened out) still got the discounted rate, and got put on the floor. She got bags moved around and rooms figured out. She even made sure the welcome bags were located in all the proper rooms, before guests showed up. We got a great room for our wedding night. I could go on and on about how helpful she was. If you're needing a place to stay near the airport, I'd say come here. The rooms are small, but updated, and not too fancy. I've never stayed here but my husband will be checking in shortly and stay for 3 nights for a business trip. Knowing that he's arriving late, and missing him, I called from Hawaii to Kansas City and spoke to a woman named Katrina. Katrina went over and beyond to help me get a couple of amenities for him upon his arrival and for the following night muchies as well. She was very pleasant and had great suggestions, she also called and followed up after the items were delivered...which was very thoughtful and unbelievably fast! I have stayed at a number of hotels near the airports and this was by far the best. I made a mistake and booked my rooms a week early on accident, they helped me through that without any issues. When I got there the ladies at the front desk were so helpful and friendly. They had suggestions for delivery restaurants and menus. They recommended what shuttle I needed to take to get to the airport based on my takeoff time. I did the park and pay which is well worth it. My room was clean and had everything I needed including a full size blow dryer. There was a high school aged basketball team and a lot of kids there that night but I never heard them. The hotel was so peaceful, unlike some of the others I've stayed at. This is the best bang for your buck! I would recommend directly contacting the hotel for the best deal rather than a website, that way they can work with you if something comes up or you make a mistake like I did. Checkout was also easy and the gentleman running the front desk was very hospitable. Full breakfast was available at 4am. read more

We only stayed here one night, but everything was A-Ok for us! Considering the price range, this was hotel was very nice. Everything seems completely updated and modern. Our room, I believe, was an executive king room and it had a small sitting area between the bed and the bathroom. We did have a closet in our room that had a dresser in it that you could set your suitcase on top of it. It was a bit hard to see the tv from both areas, so you would probably need to rotate it depending on where you were sitting, but the furniture was comfortable, clean and modern. The bed was really comfortable and I slept like a baby. The entire hotel was packed to the brim with what seemed like a 6th grade boy's softball tournament, but the best part was that we didn't even realize this until breakfast the next morning. We didn't hear a peep all night except some very minor hallway noise. Breakfast and the pool the next morning were fairly packed... but with what seems like every 6th grader in the tri-state area staying here, that's not really the hotel's fault! And despite being crowded, I didn't have to wait for a seat at breakfast and no wait for the waffle machine.. score! Breakfast was the same foods you expect from a standard continental setup. However, a nice perk I have never seen before was chocolate chips to add to your waffle batter :) :) The pool is okay sized and indoors, but definitely not a lap pool. The fitness center looked to have a few basic machines, but I didn't get the opportunity to use it myself. The night before we checked in quickly with no wait and then headed over to the Boulevard Grill which is super close walking distance away in the Sheraton. The grill was decent (and has a separate review) and while mostly a bar, would be a fine place to take kids for dinner too. It is also close driving distance to Platte City (a FEW dining options) and better yet Zona Rosa which has TONS of family dining options and is an outdoor mall. The hotel itself is only about a 5 minute drive from the airport and about 30 from downtown KC. I'd definitely stay here again if we needed a local hotel and I'd recommend it to family in if they come visit us in KC. read more

A nice looking Marriott property. Room is clean and comfortable. But there are two big issues. One, there is no where to park! They sell parking to stay and fly and cars are literally parked along the street and overflowing the lot. But a bigger issue - it's 2am and I can hear my neighbors talking and the couple above us walking across the floor! We stayed for an entire week at the Fairfield Inn for a softball tournament. The staff were very courteous and helpful and it was a very pleasant stay. Everything was very convenient and everyone was very accommodating. I needed a sewing kit and the front desk was nice enough to find me one. I'm sure it was a challenging week for them with all the teenage girls running around. After leaving I realized I had forgotten personal items in a drawer and after calling, they were nice enough to mail them to me immediately. I thought that was going above and beyond and very much appreciated. After living in California for years, it was nice to experience the midwest hospitality again! Arleen was extremely helpful and welcoming in the front desk kept us updated on our room. We flew in from Dallas to see the Rangers take on the Royals. We decided to extend our stay last minute even though the hotel was sold out through the weekend! Arleen pulled strings for us and got us the same room we already had and for the same rate!! Needless to say we were blown away the room was clean and exactly what we asked for downy to the last detail. Fairfield we give you FIVE STARS! During our stay here, the hotel was clean, the staff (mostly) was very nice, the rooms were neat, the pool was nice. I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!!! All because of a woman working the front desk, named Cinda. Not only was she fake she talked shit about my children/family to my other family. After being confronted about that, later in the evening she was discussing her day with another employee while I sat in the lobby. She could see me and continued to stand there and bad mouth my children and family right in front of me. She also bad mouthed her manager. I can deal with poor customer service, but you don't talk about another persons children, especially when they are not misbehaving at all. The rooms were left as they were when we entered, we cleaned up our trash, we were quiet, they were not running or yelling down the halls, and she made us sound like a bunch of young, irresponsible, trashy parents, who got what we paid for (her words not mine) and that we were ungrateful. Of what, who knows. They didn't even put us all in the same hotel floor, we were all seperate. What's the point of taking kids on vacation with their cousins if they can't be together. Well later I find out, it was on purpose due to Cinda, because the "last thing she needs is to have us letting our children run all over her hotel after we had taken them to Worlds of Fun all day". Who the hell she thinks she is, I dont know. Then the next morning, I call Christy, the manager to complain. Not only does she sound disgusted by my phone call she is annoyed and barely willing to help. She offers me a 50% refund. When I ask why only 50% she says "well you did eat our breakfast and use our pool", so you mean to tell me it's ok for what Cinda said and did because I stayed and used your pool? The pool which has way too much chlorine in it to begin with. I ended up getting a 100% refund after a 20min phone call but it was enough to ruin our trip, to be insulted, and to make us think twice about booking with Fairfield. I wont do it again, especially at this HOTEL! read more

Inadequate parking. The first night, we arrived in a snowstorm at midnight to find absolutely no parking spots left except for four handicapped spaces. We had to use one, had my mom's tag, but felt slimy doing it. Late afternoon the next day we observed that nearly half the cars had not been moved. The desk clerk said it was because they sold parking packages--park and fly. Apparently the hotel doesn't care if they force their guests to be inconvenienced so they can sell the spaces. They didn't bother to designate an area for those long term parkers. The second night, we were forced to park at the far perimeter of the lot and slog through slush past all of the park and fly snow covered cars to get into the hotel. They cleared the snow off the sidewalks but not the handicapped spaces or in between parking spaces. Skunky smell in the hallways. Housekeeping did not clean our room when we left the hotel for several hours at 12:30. The breakfast was pretty good. read more

This was my first experience with Fairfield inn by the airport and I was impressed. Priceline got me a great price on the room. The bed was a giant pillow and I slept wonderfully. The room smelled good, everything was clean, everything worked. I really did not hear the airport noise as much as I thought I would. In fact, when I was in my room I barely heard it. I booked this room last minute because of a rescheduled flight that had me leaving KCI at 6 a.m. The room was great and the bed was so comfortable that I was sad that I only had a short night of sleep ahead of me. They start their free breakfast at 4 a.m. so I was able to get up early and eat a bit before heading to KCI. And their staff at check-in and check-out were very friendly. The only negative thing I would say is that the parking lot and sidewalks weren't cleared as well as I would have liked. I had a very slippery walk to my car in the dark.
