    Margherita Pizza and espresso martini
    Sabrina S.

I came here with a group for my friends birthday for their espresso martini's and they absolutely delivered. The lobby was quite busy when we arrived so we had to go to the bar to order our drinks instead of the wait staff coming to us. It seemed like were over worked so we needed to nudge them a little if we wanted to place a food order. The espresso martinis were delicious and full bodied in flavor. The pizza was tasty and had a quick turnaround time which made it easy for everyone to enjoy!

For two years now my husband and I have been fortunate enough to stay at this hotel and celebrate a company function. Both years cocktails, food, ambiance, staff, service has been spot on! Each year we come in beginning of December when it is 6° outside and so inviting inside! They have a very well trained group of fantastic cocktail "chemists" and the front desk people make you feel so welcome. This hotel is in a refurbished brick building that once was used for Pabst Blue Ribbon distribution. The rooms are modern yet have decor from the 1920's sprinkled about. Beds are so comfy I always oversleep!

I understand the hotel is one of the most highly rated anywhere and that the rooms are spectacular. However all I saw was the bar area, which also seems to be the lobby, and the somewhat stark big room behind it with almost no comfortable seating, where we had to sit because the bar was so crowded and noisy. I had an unremarkable $15 cocktail. Neither the bar food nor the cocktail menus were very interesting. I'm baffled as to why the first floor bar is considered "the place to be" around town. There were some very interesting sculptural things (see photos) in and around the areas we were in, which, again, I can't define as anything because they had no seating that I could see.

    Pepperoni pizza

What a gem! We love living in KC and having spots like this to enjoy. We had a fantastic time cozying up downstairs at the Crossroads Hotel, and the wood fired pizza was the star of the show. We ordered the Pepperoni Pizza ($15), and it was absolutely perfect. The crust had that beautiful char you can only get from a wood fire oven and it was light and airy. The combination of mozzarella, tomatoes, and the delicious, slightly crispy pepperoni was a match made in heaven. It was a simple pizza done exceptionally well. Paired with their delicious espresso martini, it was the perfect way to spend an evening. The atmosphere is so inviting and the quality of the food and drinks is top notch. If you're looking for a great pizza spot with a cool, relaxed vibe, you have to check this place out. We'll definitely be back!

Visited Percheron the rooftop bar at Crossroads Hotel. Amazing views of downtown. We went on a really hot day at sunset so it wasn't terrible, but we were baking under that pergola. I tried the Perch Punch. Servings for 5 or 10 people. The Jolly Privateer was delicious and refreshing. Golden Cafe was another solid option. The fries were incredible and the Sumac Chicken flatbread was a show stopper. I made everyone try it because it was THAT good. Reservations can be made online.

The Crossroads Hotel is beautiful and unique! It is very hip and has a few amenity spaces like an art gallery and three restaurants/bars. The view from the roof bar at night is awesome! The staff have been incredible! Kelly greeted us and was especially accommodating and thoughtful to my wife and I during our stay which happened to be our first night away from our daughter. No better place to stay in KC!

Outside the elevators on our floor. Loved the decor and art.

Loved this place. It is so cool in a former beer bottling factory with a chic modern industrial vibe. Loved the decor. Front desk was extremely helpful with restaurant ideas. Our room was gorgeous and spacious. We had breakfast in their lounge by the bar. It was a great healthy and tasty menu with excellent service. It was very walkable to many places we checked out in the arts district. If ever back in KC, will certainly stay here again.

This is a beautiful renovation of the Pabst blue ribbon plant... complete with hallway carpets that are blue ribbons... there is an enormous space for reception or events in the front... while I was there, a running club event was taking place. They have a big open bar area and a separate pizza oven for quick bites. The neighborhood is artsy and eclectic... first fridays are open gallery nights for artists. Definitely worth your time to visit. Kansas City is beautiful in the spring with all the flowering trees... nice added touch

Great hotel room and bar downstairs! Got a free welcome drink (PBR) with our three night stay and the hotel with 24/7 desk staff felt very safe and secure. Gym was small but clean and the bar area was awesome-- I recommend the margarita!

They also have a décor closet with leftover centerpieces, sequin runners, etc. that you can use, which saved us a lot of money! The food is AMAZING. We went with a 3 protein buffet (rotisserie chicken, roast beef carving station, salmon) with salad, rolls, and 2 sides. It was AMAZING-- easily the best wedding food I've ever had. Another bonus with TTOG is that they offer two day-of coordinators, which I couldn't have appreciated more. A few weeks before the wedding, we met with Emad to set a timeline for the night so that everything moved along smoothly as the night progressed. I dropped all my decor off (and a list of the ones I wanted to use from their supply) the week of the wedding, and they do all of the set up and tear down for us! Everything looked perfect the night of. We don't have a single complaint about the venue, Emad or Maggie, or the bar/serving staff. If anything went wrong, Emad or Maggie took care of it and we didn't notice a thing! For the price, they offered a lot more than any other venues downtown that we looked at, and came in at our projected budget. I cannot say enough nice things about TTOG and would 100% recommend them to another couple.

We looked at over a dozen venues in the Kansas City area and just knew from the moment we walked in that this was THE space. It is truly a Kansas City gem with wood flooring, high beams with Edison bulbs, brick walls, and beautiful staircases. A huge standout for us was they only have one event per weekend, so we had the space from Friday (when we moved all of our necessities in) to 4:00 on Sunday ( when we moved back out). The wedding party truly enjoyed preparing with hair, make-up, and wardrobe on the gorgeous third floor, the cocktail hour was on the first level, and dinner and dance were on the second level. Everything was perfect. When you book the Oliver, you get the peace of mind of the owner Steve and the event coordinator Caitlin. We met with Caitlin on multiple occasions and she was amazing. They have a great bartending staff, parking attendants, and security guards, and a great working rapport with many local vendors. If I had to touch on any drawbacks, it would just be the gravel parking lots, which can be a bit of a challenge with ladies in heels or elderly persons. We were a little concerned with it being haunted house season but this was not an issue at all. Overall, we could not be more thrilled with our experience and I would give it more stars if I could! An absolute ten out of ten!

The mansion become one of our things to do while in the area. Our visit to this historic home was due to a wedding. The ground floor was elegantly decorated. Lots of soft candle light. Rich wood gives the space a regal feel. Along with weddings, this would be a fantastic venue for a roaring 20's party. Two additional floors are located upstairs. The middle floor is primarily where the wedding parties ready themselves/wait. That floor is less formal. In the space are some pieces of memorabilia from the Sunshine company. Included are some rather ornate cracker tins. The top floor has a ballroom. Ballroom also has space for a bar. This is another refined space. Between the wedding ceremony and dinner, guests were sent to the basement for hors d'oeuvres and drinks. The basement has a different vibe. Murals of old time towns adorn the walls. The seating area almost has a wine tasting vibe. A brochure available for guests as a scavenger hunt in it. This brochure includes information about the mansion being haunted. My children were also convince that there were secret passageways in the house. They never discovered any. Who know, maybe you will.

First of all, when the client contacted me and asked me to help with her daughter's wedding, I…read morereadily agreed. The Loose Mansion managers, Abbey and Loren, seemed to have an attitude issue. I wanted the wedding event to be just as memorable for the client as they... but they seemed to want to make things unnecessarily difficult. When I arrived at the scheduled time, neither Abbey nor Loren were there. No one else knew anything about any of the A/V equipment that Loose Mansion provides. Awhile later, Loren arrived. I introduced myself and was as pleasant as I could possibly be. Again, I received a "not so warm" reception. There was just a prevailing attitude of arrogance, entitlement and an unfriendliness. Because Loose Mansion was providing the video projector for the event, I asked Loren if we could plug my computer into the projector prior to the arrival of guests to make sure everything operated correctly. She told me that she probably wouldn't have time to allow me to test the hook-up because she was "so busy". I thought to myself "had you arrived at the time we had agreed upon, perhaps you would have had time to check important components like making sure the A/V would work." I was told that I would need to bring my own sound system and mics because they don't allow any "outsiders" to touch their equipment. So I came prepared with speakers, speaker stands, mixer, mics, and audio playback. As I was setting up the computer, I couldn't get the "Loose Mansion" WiFi network to work. I said something to Loren and she told me that I would have to connect to the "office network". The WiFi network was so ridiculously slow that no webpage would even load up. I thought that something must be wrong... so I connected to the network with my phone to check the speed there. Again, practically non-existent speed... so bad that nothing would work (see the screen caps from both my computer and my phone). I was afraid to say anything to Loren or ask her to reset her router for fear that I'd get another harsh response. So I just set up my own hotspot and used that. I finally did mention it to Loren and she said "Yes, it's very slow... we just tell people to download everything they need in advance." It seems ridiculous that a professional "event space" facility would have WiFi that is virtually of no use whatsoever. As the set-up for this very nice wedding event proceeded, I noticed that Loren was wearing a black skirt for the event, but with old green sneakers. I thought that she was just wearing these old green sneakers because they were comfortable during the set-up process, but surely she'd change into something more presentable for the wedding once guests started to arrive. Wrong! Later during the event, I overheard one guest mention her appearance to another guest... they were also surprised that management would allow an onsite manager to dress like this for a client's wedding event. They forgot to turn on the speakers for the ceremony, so if you were sitting in the room used for the ceremony, it sounded like all of the sound/music was coming from the room behind you (there were speakers in other rooms of the house). After the ceremony, as guests went for cocktails, we started to set up our gear for the after-dinner event. The "unused" Loose Mansion speakers were still sitting on the small stage... and when I asked Loren if we could move them aside so we could have room for our speakers, she said "No, we'll leave them right where they are!" Unbelievable! Another thing noticed was the fact that in order to lower the projection screen from the ceiling mount, Loren had to get a tall staffer who stood on top of a bucket or something and then used a plastic coat hanger to try to reach the bottom of the screen and pull it down. Tacky! My review is directed to other vendors/event planners. I've never had to deal with event space management who was NOT a team-player with the goal of wanting to create a stellar event by working TOGETHER with vendors. Instead, there was noticeable resistance. It's really too bad!

Little did I know that President Truman's political rise was deeply rooted in Kansas City--and facilitated by Tom Pendergast's sprawling web of influence, from concrete contracts to control of the police. It quickly becomes clear why they called it Tom's Town. I booked a tour at the last minute on a Saturday night, showed up 15 minutes early, and eased into the evening with a few sips of a perfectly made Old Fashioned--yes, you're allowed to bring it with you on the tour. From there, it was part distillery walkthrough, part Prohibition-era storytelling, and part generous spirits tasting. Our guide, Tony, was outstanding--enigmatic, passionate, and incredibly articulate. He brought the history to life without ever feeling rehearsed or dry. The dimly lit lounge rooms seal the deal, giving the entire place an authentic speakeasy vibe that feels both polished and transportive. If you're in Kansas City--even briefly--this is a must.
