The shower did not drain and there was something going on with the AC unit on the floor above, I suspect, since I heard dripping water coming in the room and hitting the AC unit in my room. The clerk told them both that the hotel was overbooked so they left. We were asked to scan our credit card into the system to verify the information already submitted and given room keys. When we went to our room it was occupied. So we returned to the front desk and asked to speak to the manager. We were advised a manager was not available and the clerk was visibly overwhelmed and told us she couldn't help us. We called the customer service number for Choice Hotels, explained the situation and they told us they could relocate us to the Quality Inn in Clarksville, VA for an additional $10. When we arrived in Clarksville we were told we'd be charged the full price for the room. We called customer service back and they said they would handle the situation. They put me on hold for 30 minutes and I hung up since it appeared they did not intend to come off of hold. In the end we were charged twice for the first room and charged the full price for the room we actually stayed in. We were finally able to get to the room at 3am which had two queen beds. Unfortunately we were awakened early due to my husband having multiple bed bug bites which we reported to management. After a very lengthy and exhausting journey we were appalled at the lack of professionalism and reasonable accommodation.
