The red stains made me wonder what happened in the tub. I was legit too afraid to shower but was refused a room change.

I was with a large group and at check in about half of us had to haul our luggage back down because our keys didn't work. The keys were an issue the whole week; constantly deactivating. Three of us were put in rooms with huge 3ft cracks in the bathroom tiles with either blood or rust stains covering the tiles and bathroom trim. We all had cleanliness issues. Hair in the bathroom. One girl even found cat treats scattered in her room- she is allergic to cats too and had to stay medicated for the duration of the stay. I am pretty sure they don't have housekeepers every day because the first day of our trip none of our rooms were serviced. This is by far the worst Marriott I've ever been in.

We were on a road trip and found this place after consulting my trusty yelp app! After calling and checking rates and room availability, the clerk told us she would hold a room for us and was very professional and courteous on the phone. It was a speedy check in and though we could see cookies available for guests, we weren't offered any. Oh well. The room was a decent size for my large brood and I love that there was a separation from the sofa bed area and the main sleeping area. An added bonus was that there were two TV's! When travelling with kids in a room that doesn't have a separate bedroom, you find yourself vying for the tv. Well Fairfield Inn & Suites thought about that and put an extra tv in the room. The room was clean and there were no indication aka odors or stains that indicated it was a pet friendly hotel. The clerk said that they really didn't get a lot of travelers with pets and so no room could be designated as a pets only room. The hotel is located off the main road and was pretty quiet. There's a Sonic, Five Guys, Bojangles and other restaurants within walking distance or a quick drive just across the road. I believe I also saw a Walmart in the adjacent shopping plaza as well. The breakfast in the morning was hot and fresh and it's free! Check out my pics to see what they offer. We left full and satisfied and I especially love the hot waffles. We also used the indoor pool which was a bit chilly but it was clean and well appointed with necessary supplies, chairs, tables, towels, etc. There was small gym that was available as well. I believe this was my first time staying at this brand hotel and I would certainly stay here again. The only real negative is that the smoking bench is right next to the entry/exit doors! A couple was out there smoking and as we were coming in and out we kept getting a nice waft of second hand smoke. But overall, it was a great stay so, I'm a fan!

My hotel stays continue and this is a nice 3yr old Marriott property. Amenities: * Large room - 2 Flat Panel TVs * Dvd * Mini Fridge * Microwave * Some HD channels (see channels 103-1,103-4,103-5, 104-1, 107-1,107-3) * Breakfast - free * WiFi - free Service - Helpful and friendly Overall - Nice beds and spacious room makes for an enjoyable stay. Downside - Showers seem to take forever to heat up...not sure why...

Clean, quiet, the staff is professional, helpful and courteous. Rooms are nice. See the photos that are posted. Prices are competitive, and the hotel is a good value. Parking is more than adequate, and the location is a little off the beaten path so your not surrounded by anything. Kinda in the country. You will enjoy your stay.

Very comfortable clean room and it's quaint. Getting here was like way off the main road but other than that enjoyed my stay here. The breakfast was good the usual step above continental. Not really a fan of powdered eggs but it was OK they did have shredded cheese to top them , along with salsa.

Nice place, clean and big room...pet friendly but would never had known had I not seen a dog at checkout...nice clean free breakfast area scrambled eggs and sausage a nice step up from the normal free breakfast areas...was only a quick stop over but very pleased...

Hampton Inn - La Crosse (South Hill), VA Room 300…read moreStay: February 17, 2026 Based on my highly controlled, peer-reviewed sample size of three Hampton Inn stays on this six-state + one-District crash-pad tour... I can confidently report: Beds = comfy. Pillows = a systematic failure. The mattress in Room 300? Solid. Supportive. No complaints. The pillows? Structural collapse. They flatten faster than airport bottled water budgets. If you're pillow-particular and have luggage space, vacuum-seal your own and bring it. We're traveling streamlined, so that was a hard pass. Now -- this room is unexpectedly spacious. Hardwood-style flooring, kitchenette with fridge and microwave, hallway separation -- it feels more extended-stay than overnight stop. Big enough that I briefly wondered if we were hosting the next TED Talk. Sink design: Faucet positioned too far back. Water doesn't cleanly clear into the basin. Small detail, noticeable every time. Shower: Water pressure acceptable. Hot water temperature range acceptable. No extremes. Middle lane performance. Towels: On a scale from zero to Brillo Pad -- 6. Enough exfoliation to wake you up in the morning. Also smaller than towels at prior stops. I can only assume the traveling population shrinks as we head north. Breakfast: This was the curveball. We expected the standard chain-wide lineup. Instead: plant-based sausage, rubberized egg discs, and Hampton-branded waffles. Fortunately, I had leftover Chicken Fried Chicken from Cracker Barrel the night before, so I improvised my own chicken-and-waffles situation. Adapt. Overcome. Jen ate enough to be fed and carried on like a champion. Check-in was friendly and welcoming. Whether that energy influenced the room assignment, I'll leave to speculation. Overall: Spacious layout. Reliable mattress. Serviceable shower. Ongoing pillow conspiracy. (4/5) As we continue this one-night, multi-state sprint toward the District, Hampton remains consistent -- just waiting on the pillows to join the program.

There was constant traffic going through that back door which loudly slammed all night. That was only one issue. As Rory stated the maintenance was terrible. The shower did not drain and there was something going on with the AC unit on the floor above, I suspect, since I heard dripping water coming in the room and hitting the AC unit in my room. I thought it was pouring down outside and was shocked to discover that it was sunny outside. I'm a VIP with Hilton and feel like they gave me the worse room I'm the hotel.

If we had a question or concern, they were quick to respond accordingly, and fast. Not to mention, this was the week of 1) a family reunion AND 2) A national little league traveling baseball tournament. Despite the heavy workload, fresh breakfast was provided each night and service remained to be caring and direct. You can tell that these workers also care about what they do. To be clear, hotels aren't perfect; and this one surely wasn't so. The key is how the staff responds to a multitude of issues that's surely to arrive. That determines the stay. That made this A+. Needless to say, when we entered the hotel and went to the registration desk, no one was there. Guess who the reservation agent was - smoky lady! She didn't say I will be right with you, or are you guys checking in. She continued to smoke her cigarette and came in when she was done. But the caveat is, I asked for additional towels and washcloths, because I didn't think our room had any. She called us later in the evening, and asked us to bring the unused towels back to the lobby. Very unsanitary. Not to mention the big burn on the carpet in the hallway outside of our room. This was a quick overnight stay, needless to say - THE LAST ONE!

I had never had any issues before, so I felt comfortable stayingthere. We checked in, the carpet was soaking wet. Apparently housekeeping did something with the a/c that caused it to leak. Sonic, McDonalds, Cracker Barrel, Walmart, etc. 2. Rooms have a mini-fridge. Not sure if every room does, so I would double check upon checking in. 3. Breakfast was delicious. They have a really nice spread of hot and cold foods. Biscuits with gravy, scrambled eggs (which were DELICIOUS), bacon, and sausage in the hot food buffet bar. They also have a belgian waffle maker. Various cereals, oatmeals, breads, yogurts, and fruits if not interested in hot breakfast. 4. Tea and coffee is available all day for free. 5. Bed was very comfortable. 6. Our...4th bathroom was clean. Yes I did say 4th. Let me explain. Cons: 1. My parents had to change the room four times because the first three were filthy. I mean that's just ridiculous. There was hair (a lot of hair) on the bed sheets in the first three rooms they gave us keys to. One room didn't even have the beds made and had used towels on the floor in the bathroom. That's nasty as hell. So fyi, pull back the comforters and check the sheets before laying on them, because otherwise, you'll be in for one hell of a nasty ass surprise. 2. The rooms are small. Not much space between beds, furniture, and walls. Sucks if you're claustrophobic. 3. When you turned on the heater in our 4th room, it smelled like burnt smoke. We had to open up the window because it stank up the whole room. 4. Smoke detectors were covered in the 4th room. That's such a fire hazard and illegal? We didn't notice if this was the case in the other 3 rooms because we hadn't got past the beds.... 5. When we spoke to the manager upon checking out about the rooms situation, all he offered us was a discount on our next stay there. I would come back for the food but not to room there.

The clerk told them both that the hotel was overbooked so they left. We were asked to scan our credit card into the system to verify the information already submitted and given room keys. When we went to our room it was occupied. So we returned to the front desk and asked to speak to the manager. We were advised a manager was not available and the clerk was visibly overwhelmed and told us she couldn't help us. We called the customer service number for Choice Hotels, explained the situation and they told us they could relocate us to the Quality Inn in Clarksville, VA for an additional $10. When we arrived in Clarksville we were told we'd be charged the full price for the room. We called customer service back and they said they would handle the situation. They put me on hold for 30 minutes and I hung up since it appeared they did not intend to come off of hold. In the end we were charged twice for the first room and charged the full price for the room we actually stayed in. We were finally able to get to the room at 3am which had two queen beds. Unfortunately we were awakened early due to my husband having multiple bed bug bites which we reported to management. After a very lengthy and exhausting journey we were appalled at the lack of professionalism and reasonable accommodation. Neither the hotel staff nor corporate customer service accepted responsibility for their failure to provide the room we reserved. To say that we were disappointed is an understatement.

We call down to the front desk and the arrogant , Indian front desk employee tells My fiancé that he " does not do refunds and to call police to get his money back. " Although we know it is a civil matter, we still call just to have it on record that we did. The only reason we even went to this particular place was because there were no hotels for miles. At this exit , there were three but this was the first one I called to find out if there were any vacancies. My purpose for writing this review isn't because I'm pressed for $60 but to spread awareness to the people that may want to stop at this place or places like this in the future. I have 2 babies. I cannot afford to bring bedbugs home. Sorry. I have experience in the hospitality field. Specifically motel 6 as a night auditor at the front desk. Therefore, I know how things should be. This employee was not sympathetic in any way, shape or form. Instead he was arrogant and extremely rude and continuously called our room telling us to change rooms. We don't live here to take them to court so I won't waste my time driving this far for nothing but I will contact corporate and raise awareness about their terrible policy. There is nothing posted anywhere about their refund policy period. They just assume we are young and stupid maybe even inferior but my momma didn't raise a fool. I will never sit there and argue with an employee. I'll go right above your head. Immediately took a hot shower and used their skin drying soap on my arms.
