Located just off I-85 exit 12B. Close to a variety of restaraunts, SuperWalmart Center, gas stations etc. This HIlton property is very clean with friendly staff. Complimentary WiFi and breakfast included with your stay. As a Hilton Honors member I was kindly greeeted at check-in with 2 complimentary water bottles to wet the palate. Pre check-in was available on line where I was also able to select my room of choice (recommended). The hotel was very quite, room was super clean and very comfortable.

One of two beds in the room.

Very good place. Clean. Breakfast is good on alternate days cause one day is omelets and the next scrambled eggs. You would think they were the same, but the omelets taste microwaved. Aside from that, the staff is cool and the accommodations were awesome and I stayed s week here.

This was actually our second or third time staying at this Hampton Inn. My hubs and I stayed here on a Saturday night during our trip to Martinsville for the race. When we visited last year, the first floor common area was being renovated so I was curious to see how it turned out. Looked clean and spacious enough and there was a gentleman at the desk ready to greet us. My husband reserved a room online using his Hilton Honors or whatever acct, and he mentioned to the gentleman (Bill? Bob?) that the reservation said that it was a handicap accessible room and that if we needed to be moved from there, that would be fine. Well, apparently there were no other rooms available since the Ms. VA pageant was happening in South Hill that weekend. Well, fine by us as long as the room wasn't needed by someone else. It was also mentioned that it was a smoking room. Eek. We're both non-smokers. Bob/Bill said that out acct stated "smoking preferred." Eeeeek. Nothing we can do about that now since there weren't any other rooms left. So we walked into the room and... The smell of smoke punched me in the face. I guess since it's a smoking preferred room, the housekeeping staff doesn't even try to make the room smell less like smoke. I really felt like the air was saturated by it. I'm not even sure a smoker would be okay with it. My hubs went to Bill/Bob and returned with a can of Febreeze and some other industrial cleaner. It wasn't working. We went out to eat and buy stuff at the local Walmart because I wanted to spend the least amount of time in that room. So we return from Walmart armed with a new can of Febreeze and some AirWick freshener. Let me tell you, I think those Febreeze commercials with the blindfolded people are all lies. I sprayed the room down--curtains, carpet, bedding, chairs. My nostrils still burned while I slept. Bill was kind enough to put an air purifier in our room while we were away earlier in the evening but we returned it before sleeping; my husband couldn't handle the noise. The bathroom for this accessible room was nice and spacious. There was no partition for the shower except for a curtain so when I was done using it, the floor was all wet, all the way up to the toilet. It was all dried up by morning. The free breakfast consisted of a waffle maker, biscuits, scrambled eggs, Canadian bacon, cereals, oatmeal, assorted bagels and other pastries. OJ, apple juice, milk (I'm assuming; I didn't look for milk). It was good for what it was. Bob was still there in the AM when we checked out. Apparently we don't actually check out to return our key cards. I guess they don't reuse them anymore. Overall, I think we'll use Hampton Inn again next year since it's halfway between Hampton Roads and Martinsville. It was our fault about the smoking room and Bill did all he could to accommodate us. I'm sure if the pageant wasn't happening the same weekend, he would've given us another room. Also, when we checked in he told us the password for the wi-fi network, but we didn't use it. P.S. When I unpacked, my PJs smelled like smoke. It was that bad. Lesson learned!

Meh... Room smelled like cigarette smoke. Some hotel patrons were outside partying to the wee hours of the night.

Poor maintenance (exterior door slams... and room in need of renovation... jacuzzi suites out of order... laundry out of order).

If we had a question or concern, they were quick to respond accordingly, and fast. Not to mention, this was the week of 1) a family reunion AND 2) A national little league traveling baseball tournament. Despite the heavy workload, fresh breakfast was provided each night and service remained to be caring and direct. You can tell that these workers also care about what they do. To be clear, hotels aren't perfect; and this one surely wasn't so. The key is how the staff responds to a multitude of issues that's surely to arrive. That determines the stay. That made this A+. Needless to say, when we entered the hotel and went to the registration desk, no one was there. Guess who the reservation agent was - smoky lady! She didn't say I will be right with you, or are you guys checking in. She continued to smoke her cigarette and came in when she was done. But the caveat is, I asked for additional towels and washcloths, because I didn't think our room had any. She called us later in the evening, and asked us to bring the unused towels back to the lobby. Very unsanitary. Not to mention the big burn on the carpet in the hallway outside of our room. This was a quick overnight stay, needless to say - THE LAST ONE!

I had never had any issues before, so I felt comfortable stayingthere. We checked in, the carpet was soaking wet. Apparently housekeeping did something with the a/c that caused it to leak. Will we be back?....not likely. Here's why:…read more Pros: 1. Really close distance to various fast food joints, sit down restaurants, gas stations and supermarkets/stores. Sonic, McDonalds, Cracker Barrel, Walmart, etc. 2. Rooms have a mini-fridge. Not sure if every room does, so I would double check upon checking in. 3. Breakfast was delicious. They have a really nice spread of hot and cold foods. Biscuits with gravy, scrambled eggs (which were DELICIOUS), bacon, and sausage in the hot food buffet bar. They also have a belgian waffle maker. Various cereals, oatmeals, breads, yogurts, and fruits if not interested in hot breakfast. 4. Tea and coffee is available all day for free. 5. Bed was very comfortable. 6. Our...4th bathroom was clean. Yes I did say 4th. Let me explain. Cons: 1. My parents had to change the room four times because the first three were filthy. I mean that's just ridiculous. There was hair (a lot of hair) on the bed sheets in the first three rooms they gave us keys to. One room didn't even have the beds made and had used towels on the floor in the bathroom. That's nasty as hell. So fyi, pull back the comforters and check the sheets before laying on them, because otherwise, you'll be in for one hell of a nasty ass surprise. 2. The rooms are small. Not much space between beds, furniture, and walls. Sucks if you're claustrophobic. 3. When you turned on the heater in our 4th room, it smelled like burnt smoke. We had to open up the window because it stank up the whole room. 4. Smoke detectors were covered in the 4th room. That's such a fire hazard and illegal? We didn't notice if this was the case in the other 3 rooms because we hadn't got past the beds.... 5. When we spoke to the manager upon checking out about the rooms situation, all he offered us was a discount on our next stay there. I would come back for the food but not to room there.

The clerk told them both that the hotel was overbooked so they left. We were asked to scan our credit card into the system to verify the information already submitted and given room keys. When we went to our room it was occupied. So we returned to the front desk and asked to speak to the manager. We were advised a manager was not available and the clerk was visibly overwhelmed and told us she couldn't help us. We called the customer service number for Choice Hotels, explained the situation and they told us they could relocate us to the Quality Inn in Clarksville, VA for an additional $10. When we arrived in Clarksville we were told we'd be charged the full price for the room. We called customer service back and they said they would handle the situation. They put me on hold for 30 minutes and I hung up since it appeared they did not intend to come off of hold. In the end we were charged twice for the first room and charged the full price for the room we actually stayed in. We were finally able to get to the room at 3am which had two queen beds. Unfortunately we were awakened early due to my husband having multiple bed bug bites which we reported to management. After a very lengthy and exhausting journey we were appalled at the lack of professionalism and reasonable accommodation. Neither the hotel staff nor corporate customer service accepted responsibility for their failure to provide the room we reserved. To say that we were disappointed is an understatement.
