I have been going to this fair play for 35 years. 5 stars up to the last 2 or 3 years. Today, the produce will spoil the day after you purchase it. Since they started the (for digital coupons) app, sales are hard to apply and if you dont read the fine print, no coupon. Example: Nabisco cookies this week. Save $1 on 1 pack, the package has to say "Party" for the coupon although the Family pack is the same weight. Just got charged $6 for a brussel stick. I Didnt buy a stick! the cashier didn't care what she charged for. I had 10 brussel sprouts, maybe a pound? $2.29 was on the sign. Last my tomato came home with a hole in it. Probably because the person packing the bag pierced it with his/her finger. I went to customer service, that guy doesnt care. The internet service is so bad that I said F*** it and walked out. Think he could have helped, what does customer service mean??? BUT, they have expanded the food choices for other ethnic groups. I hope they watch what they are charged for and make sure they don't get OLD produce. read more

The whole store is just wonderful, friendly and great customer service. The deli is amazing, everything is always fresh and the prices are just unbelievably inexpensive. They range 3 to 5 dollars less the mariano's and Jewel stores. Which is FairPlays regular price. It's like that throughout the store. Mariano's prices have doubled with most of their products. With my car out of commission, I've decided to use a delivery system. Fairplay uses Doordash. Last week was just great, they arrived on time and everything was there. Now, I'm upset and dissatisfied because only half my order arrived last night. When I placed the order online, there were no notifications indicating it was out of stock or unavailable. I wasn't even notified when I completed my order. I didn't even get an email. No, I had to discover the unavailability on my own when I just happened to think of checking my order to see if it was my mistake. The good thing was I wasn't charged for the missing items. Target indicates if they're low on stock. I think every supermarket should do the same. I hated being misled this way. read more

I have shopped at the store for over 30 years. And now that I'm a senior 67 years old I am very unhappy with a deli department. They do make everything pre-made and containers but the containers are so big it's for like a family of four or five the deli does not take into consideration a senior it only lives one person in the household I would buy more the deli taco dip spinach dip and other pre-made deli items if they would make them in smaller containers for seniors that live by themselves. Overall the workers are friendly and my only complaint is that the last cashier stands are always closed so I suggest that they open a few self check out stands. I mostly shop at the Jewel-Osco in the area, Hickory Hills and Palos. However there are times when I miss an item or it's a last minute decision to pick up something and don't feel like running back to Jewels so I go to the FairPlay in Worth. On Friday, August 5th 2022 I went to the FairPlay in Worth in the late morning. I stopped in to get some Ground Chuck. I bought 2 packs that totaled a little over 3 pounds. It's didn't look really pink like fresh ground meat should look but I just thought maybe it was the light. FYI, I am 5 minutes from this store so it was not in the car that long. The next day, Saturday, I went to cook it and it smelled awful. Fresh ground meat does not have an odor. I had to toss it and went to Jewel's and bought the meat I needed. Jewels meat was a beautiful pink like it should be. The meat I bought at Fairplay should have lasted longer. It was not even 24 hours after I bought it and it spoiled. I have been shopping at Jewels for a long time and never experienced this with their meat. I give the meat 2 days in the refrigerator and then I cook it. I will NEVER buy any kind of meat at Fairplay again. I have OCD regarding expiration dates and this store needs to look at their products not just meat and toss them. I'm retired and can't afford to waste money. I have bought other items there with no problem but they need to keep tabs on this. Sorry. Best choice for grocery shopping on the South Side. They have more items in stock than Marianos does. I get my order right, on time, and with a smile. I have asked for special things and additional items that were not on my order (last minute changes) and they have been very accommodating. I can not order any 1/2 pound of anything at Marianos, but at Fairplay I can order 1/4, 3/4 whatever. They have a Great Deli, and great Rotisserie chicken. read more

I was hoping to never set foot in this store again, but they had a great sale ad so I decided to give it another shot. Again, the aisles were full of boxes blocking the products, and they were out of most things in the sale ad. I won't be back, no matter how enticing the sale ads may be. The only reason to shop at the Worth, Il, Fairplay are the prices and even that is becoming less and less the case. The deli is insanely slow, the stockers are rude and make it their business to block aisles, one of the butchers seems to be a racist and items ring up incorrectly frequently; darn near every visit. And God forbid you bring this to the checker's attention. Some of the checkers are very nice, but others should not be in the service industry. Oh, and if you buy their bakery French bread, plan on eating it all the minute you get home. Purchased twin loaves on a Thursday afternoon. The one used on Friday was a bit firmer than expected, but okay. The second was rock hard by Saturday morning and unedible. There was a time I would have recommended this store without hesitation, but no more. To be fair, the location in Hickory Hills seems to be relatively well managed. read more

I go to FairPlay quite a bit because it's the closest grocery store to my house. Well tonight, 3/7/21, I went there and was at register 3 and after getting home with my items I noticed the dirtiest bandage attached to the bag that my items were in. I'm absolutely appalled. Not only is this disgusting to find but it's disgusting how dirty this bandage was on the outside and clearly not up to codes for someone to be dealing with other peoples groceries. If there is no star, it will be more than enough. The attitude of the cashiers is terrible. One old blonde cashier, was chatting and laghing with another costumer. When I stopped by her, she rudely did not reply to my greetings when I said Hello?? when she finally finished her slow checking out, she rudely handled the receipt ignoring me and looking to the other side of the store. Never seen such a horrible attitude. Never seen such a poor unprofessional customer service. Another young cashier was at the closing time she asked me to put the Close sign on the counter, as if she can not put it or the counter is miles far from her. What a terrible trashy place. Their produce is ok but still too much expensive for the quality, the only reason I go there sometimes is just that is close to my home going back from work. Haven't gone here in a long time, bought avacado here a few times and I'd get them home just to find them rotten on inside didn't take them back just stopped going. Gave them a try today and the cashier had a problem with me telling her I wouldn't get the sale price on something if the sale was broken in two. I had an experience at Fairplay Foods that was appalling. I bought a head of lettuce brought it home. Had it for two days before I tried to use it. When I opened it up, the inside was rotten. I returned to the store with my receipt and the lettuce for a different head and the manager refused to give it to me. He pointed to a sign taped to the top of the service desk that you only have 24 hours to return produce. There are no signs where you bye it. I think $1.49 they have lost my business of three times a week for good. Apparently they have no faith in there produce. Other stores stand behind what thay sell. WHAT A DUMP. I stopped at Fairplay on 111th in Worth today as saw add for paper towels and toilet paper 2 for ten dollars either item, paper towels rang up for five as I just bought the one package of 6, however the toilet paper was $8.99 manager said they were all out of the sale item for the toilet paper I took the Angel Soft tp off the shelf and it had the sale tag next to it 2 for ten, manager would not honor the price, don't feel it is my fault the tag was there I should have taken a picture of it. Just moved to Worth, nice town, cops that only care about getting their paychecks' and some parks, nice neighborhoods like mine, a preserve and dozens of businesses, including Fairplay. This fine store has been around for decades, it was even around in 1998 when I lived in a beautiful house in the corrupt town of Chicago Ridge. This store is a medium sized grocery store, prices and sales are average to good, name brand, generic and many Polish items (in a few aisles are the Polish items) and everything in between. Great selections of pizzas, French fries, breakfast foods, etc are located in the Frozen sections. I love their homemade meals, Chickens, bakery and lunch meat counter. 4/5 stars. read more

Semi decent grocery store. I just come here for the sale price of the meat and any other items are just normal frozen section canned and many more. Produce can be deceiving sometimes because of the turnover rate. The less people buying the less fresh it is. My recommendation to the place is to keep atleast the produce fresh and keep the meat fresh everytime. read more

Don't buy their produce!!!! Went there last weekend and purchased some watermelon in a plastic contained, the next day I offered some to my grandson and he scrunched up his face and said No! I smelled and tasted it, it was sour and smelled rancid! I opened the avocados I had purchased, and although they were hard and looked healthy on the outside, they were brown and rotten on the inside. To say the least I will not shop at Fairplay again! This is your no frills small, neighborhood grocery store. You can get some fantastic deals on produce and bakery and also at the deli. Just shop their weekly ads to get the best deals. This place does get very crowded. I found the best times to shop is a late Sunday afternoon or Monday evening from 6-8pm. Forget Saturday and Sunday mornings or early afternoons. You won't find parking. The one negative is the parking lot is small and is in terrible need of repair and repaving. Definitely bring your flotation device if you park after a heavy rain. The pot holes are about the size of a kiddie pool. This grocery store is also in Worth, IL, not Palos Park. read more

I had to stop at this feed store for the masses the other day, nothing has changed. But I had to write an update on something that I wrote about before and seen a similar act. In front of me was some little old lady who was trying to use a credit card to pay for her items. She had to be taught on how to swipe it, what keys to hit, and where to sign. But the kicker was she went over to the lottery machine to purchase some tickets, she worked that machine like a pro. Knew how to insert the money and what buttons to push, amazing. read more

Bought 15 pounds of chicken wings here Friday for our block party. We open them up on Saturday only to have the entire house stink of rotten chicken. We called them and asked if anybody else had a similar experience, of course the answer is no. He asked that we bring the chicken back to him and we can exchange it. I am not a fan, the parking lot needs to be paved and it goes downhill from there, I feel like I'm in the bowel's of Arkansas when I visit this store. It doesn't smell right, like the cold temps in the store are helping to mask foul odors. The employee's don't even look like the best available from the labor pool in cook county, sale items are often sold out, the prices are mediocre at best, it's very "dated" and not in a charming way. I like this store. The competition is the new Jewel on 127th & Harlem. The Jewel is laid out in a labyrinth. The signs are misleading but you do get a lot of exercise trying to find what you want. Fairplay is compact. You get to know just where things are. The produce is usually fresh and the bakery items are really diverse. I did have a problem on one visit. My credit card was charged twice (over $150.00) for the same transaction. I visited the store within a few days with my receipt in hand and a copy of the info from the credit card company showing the two charges I requested that they issue a credit. The manager told me that I would have to contact the credit company in order to get the charge deleted. Stupid! I began to argue but to no avail. I went to the company and they, of course, said that I should work this out with the merchant. Since I had disputed the charge, I finally got the credit issued and was not liable for Fairplay's mistake. All that being said, I still like the store and continue to visit frequently. read more
