I will start by saying that I am a very type-A person. I love organization, I admire meticulous work & need things to be executed in a manner that shows no stone gets left unturned. I looked into a few different wedding planners when I first got engaged & interviewed a couple of them. Naturally, I left the best for last - which was, of course, Fairy Godmother. She was the only planner I met with that had her own office space (an adorable one at that) & who had examples galore to show me. The moment she brought out her binder of wedding planning sheets, detailed documents, timelines, & slideshow for design - it was hook, line & sinker for me. We booked her that very next day. I booked her about a year & a half before my wedding & she started the planning process with me right away. She did the most amazing job at making me feel like I was the only bride she had. She always answered my calls, emails, & texts within the day & put any worries I had to rest. Any time we had a touch base call - which was often - she made me feel at ease & reminded me that I was ahead of schedule & to take a minute to breathe. She truly cares about her clients & makes sure everything runs smoothly. She has different packages that can fit anyone's budget from full planning, the month of, day of coordination - or just chat with her & she could work with what your needs are. I chose full planning because we were planning a 250-person wedding. She recommended the most amazing vendors that anyone could choose from & even connected us via text or email. She was the main liaison between us & our vendors to ensure everyone was on the same page; she even made sure she went over any contracts we had to ensure everything booked got executed correctly. During the planning process, she sent me a series of documents to fill out for details of the wedding party, what style I love, & my dream design, she created my budget documents, sent me all the notes she took during every single one of our touch base phone calls & made me think about aspects of the wedding day I would have NEVER thought of myself. As we neared the last 7ish months before the wedding, decided to completely cancel our large wedding, move the date & move the now 30-person intimate wedding to a new city; without so much of a blink of an eye, Colleen said no problem, where are we going & what do you want to do? Things changed again so we decided to keep it in Bakersfield & Colleen, again, went with the flow, not bothered whatsoever. It was truly such a relief to have her helping me every step of the way. Enter other members of her fairy team - like Sara D. - my designer. Immaculate, impeccable, & pristine are the words I would use to describe her & her work. She took my Pinterest board & my vision & completely created a design that was completely outside of my expectations. There was an issue with guests who didn't RSVP who RSVP'd at the last minute & we would have been short chairs - well leave it to the Fairy team to get it taken care of. They have amazing relationships with wedding pros & can get things handled because of how well their team works & the professionalism they bring. While at rehearsal the day before, the grass wasn't cut at the venue. Colleen was able to get it taken care of & the venue was in pristine condition just in time for the wedding. I truly was in awe of their work. Finally, come the day of the wedding. Colleen's setup team arrived along with my designer, Sara & they executed the most amazing ceremony & reception I could have EVER imagined; every detail I wanted was done - every picture I had framed was placed around so beautifully, & every single one of my candles was lit without anyone even noticing when they were lit or by whom, they moved my flowers from the ceremony to the reception & we were kept on time with the timeline of our day. I had already left a 5 star review for my fairy Sara for everything she did for us pre- postponement. She was amazing and she helped us find a new date ALL our vendors could move to less than 24 hours after our original venue cancelled on us. She went out on maternity leave right after our original date and we were then assigned to Callie. I can't imagine being assigned to an already planned wedding after a postponement, mid-pandemic with a couple you've never met. But Callie did an awesome job catching up on who we were as a couple, our vision and what we did and didn't want. Since our new venue still hadn't opened back up 6 weeks before our new date, we decided to change venues again to our friends' home to ensure we could still have our wedding this time around. That meant re-planning most of the wedding in a few short weeks- and a lot more vendor inquiries and visits for Callie and I. It was a stressful last couple weeks, and an almost hiccup, but Callie and Colleen made sure everything was settled and perfect. Kate Prosser our planner, was so professional, always responsive to emails and texts. She took care of ALL the details. If we had a question or couldn't get in touch with a vendor she was right there handling things and making the planning as stress-free for us as possible. The week before the event, which was an outdoor backyard wedding, the weather report changed to 55% chance of rain. The day of wedding the rains came and the Fairy Godmother team worked their magic around the rain. Lots of changes had to happen that morning but they pulled off an incredibly beautiful wedding. They worked so hard all day long to make this the wedding my daughter and her husband dreamed about for months. Colleen is a consummate professional and exactly who you want helping you with an important event. Whenever I've needed to hire specialists and professionals in Bakersfield I've been worried--the selection is limited, so often you're "stuck" with what might not pass muster in a major metro. Let me mention some of the areas that impressed: * Organized: When it comes down to it, this is the most important trait of an event planner. I was initially going to wait until my three year wedding anniversary to write this review just to prove to you not only are they incredible event coordinators but they bring great luck to marriages. However, I'm currently reminiscing on my Magical Day and came across some incredible pictures of my Fairy Godmother(s) and I just couldn't help but share this review. When I came across their table at a wedding Expo my first impression was wow these ladies are full of happiness, and great energy. I left wanting to book them immediately. So I called them and made an appointment. I have to admit things were rocky at the beginning, but Colleen immediately handled my issue and matched me with Cassandra. I can write a novel about how amazing Cassandra as my Fairy Godmother but I wont. I will tell you she is amazing at recommending great wedding vendors that will fit your budget. Aside from meeting with me often she had my special day planned out to a T. The day of she met me at the Salon where I was getting my make-up and hair styled and was hard at work ensuring everything ran smoothly. I also had two other wonderful fairies on the day of, Pam and Leticia. while Cassandra focused entirely on me, Pam and Leticia focused on every detail at our venue. Cassandra, Pam and Leticia made sure to coordinated with the catering company, the DJ, the mariachi, the Pastor officiating our wedding (my precious Father-in-Law), and ensured any family members involved in our wedding knew their role and timing. My special day was truly Magical. I was treated like a princess that day. When i was thirsty and cup of water would magically appear, when i was tired of my heels my sandals would magically appear, if I needed a make-up touch up Cassandra was on it. I don't recall anything going wrong at my wedding, and if it did it must have been handled behind scenes because I was never stressed out. My only focus was to marry the man of my dreams and have a happy filled day and I know that was all made possible thanks to this amazing group of women from fairy Godmother who worked tirelessly to give me the best day of my life. Right after becoming engaged, I knew that I would have to call the Fairy Godmother Team to help me plan my wedding. I can't say how thankful I am that they were available to help my fiancé and I organize and execute the many ideas that we had. At the time that we were planning the wedding, I was completing my education. I had very little time for anything other than course work and student teaching. If it weren't for the handwork of my Fairy Godmother, Colleen, I know that I wouldn't have been able to schedule the appointments that included cake testing, florist visits, venue review, and the booking of a photographer. I am a shyer person who becomes uncomfortable when having to speak on the phone to people who I may not know. This is another reason why Colleen was so helpful and kind. She would call any of the vendors to schedule appointments, talk about pricing, and review details. Colleen also had beautiful design ideas, and was extremely kind when I wanted to change the theme of the wedding after our first consultation. Colleen also created a timeline for the wedding day that was extremely well done and easy to follow. The day of the wedding the people around me were commenting that I was the calmest bride. The main reason that I felt so calm was because I was confident that the two Fairy Godmother's creating the wedding would execute the "look" just as I had wanted it. I was right to be calm because Colleen and Cassandra did an unbelievably beautiful job. They helped us all stay on schedule while projecting kindness and patience. As my bridesmaids, my mother, and I were finishing getting ready my eight month old niece was in the room. She was wanting to be held but we were all having to run around to get dressed. Colleen happily held my niece all while helping the photographer get the photos of the accessories and bouquets. I think that small action really shows how much she cares, and that she is willing to do whatever it takes to help. I cannot recommend the Fairy Godmother's highly enough. What can I really say about the most amazing Wedding and Event planners? First, I had many questions and I always received prompt responses by Marissa and Denise. No question was ever too silly for them to take extra time out of their day to answer. I thought I was organized and then I met Denise. Denise took notes on every detail that I ever said. When I thought I was rambling off an unimportant detail, she would always stop me and remind me that she needed to know every detail so that day of she could ensure it came to fruition. I had a large bridal party (10) and I come from a large family (1 of 15), Denise made sure that everyone felt welcome and was apprised of all the details of the day. I can honestly say that my wedding was beyond what I expected. I say this with the happiest of feelings in my heart and thanks to Denise. There was a large possibility of rain the week of the wedding (my wedding ceremony was outdoors) and Denise was very honest and gave me the options and the reality of what I needed in order for the day to go on without a hitch. Our 'day-of' coordinator, Yessi, was wonderful, and really allowed us to relax on our wedding day, and ultimately enjoy it. Yessi was there from the very beginning and made sure that all our vendors were accounted for, she was there to direct our guests where to go and helped with the flow of things; even fixing last minute wardrobe malfunctions that took place only minutes before the ceremony. You don't really think about everything that is needed on the day-of, but I can safely say without her direction and guidance we would have been lost, and left scrambling for what to do and where to go. Where do I begin? We were lucky enough to have Colleen as our fairy godmother for our wedding. Our wedding was in Bakersfield and we live 2 hours away so I knew I needed help! I did plenty of research and after our first meeting, I knew she was the one. Throughout the process Colleen made sure to Skype or have phone conversations periodically since we were not able to meet in person. She helped me stay organized and made me feel comfortable. I had a huge wedding party (12 groomsmen and 12 bridesmaids; yeah I know Haha) and during my rehearsal the church coordinator was having a difficult time but Colleen kindly and gently stepped in to help. Mind you, this was my first time meeting her in person. Her calm and sweet presence is THE BEST. And on my wedding day. LET. ME. TELLLL YOU. She was my hero. From providing me with a last minute garter, keeping me and my 12 bridesmaids organized and prompt, assisting the photographer with locations, transporting me and my husband to the venue (and taking us to chipotle haha that was fun), finding my original garter just in time, making sure all our vendors were fed, ensuring everything was on time... Colleen even made sure she had Spanish speaking coordinators with her because most of my family is Spanish speaking. My fiancé and I are getting married Sept. 1, 2012. I had 12 months to plan our wedding. I thought how hard could it be planning a wedding I can do it on my own. Plus I had heard some people tell me it's not worth getting a wedding coordinator. Also the place we booked our ceremony and reception had a wedding coordinator. Well I was only 3 months away from my wedding date and I was crying at least once a week over all the work I had put into planning our wedding. I was so stressed and ready to call off the wedding and just go on a long vacation. We had problem after problem happen. I could not get a hold of people that I booked for the wedding after I had left my deposits. I had the Pastor cancel on me 3 times and 1 no showed appointment. The DJ would not return our calls for over 3 weeks and no showed to our appointment. My hair lady no showed to my hair trial and went to Vegas. My wedding venue place no showed to our appointment did not return my calls or text message for over a month. My makeup trail cancelled an hour before my bridal shower. The food for the bridal shower, the owner forgot to place the order. The list just goes on and on. At this point my fiancé told me get a wedding coordinator. I told him we don't have the extra funds for a planner we were already over budget. He said it's not worth you being so stressed out, you are supposed to enjoy planning your wedding. So I called around I left 2 messages with 2 different wedding coordinator. Colleen from Fairy Godmother called me back and took me under her wing. They say they are the day of wedding coordinator's but she has done so much for us. She would call and set up appointments for me and would talk to vendors that had not returned my calls. Where do I start?! There is way too much to be said about how Denise and Pam of "FG" saved my wedding day from certain disaster. Denise has been with us from the beginning, nudging us along when we needed it and supporting us and helping us where ever and whenever we called on her. They were so flexible with my insane work schedule, and endured listening to every frustration we had along the way (they even dealt with those frustrations head on!). They recommended WONDERFUL vendors for photography, videography and so much more. However....Where they really came through is at the wedding. When everything *no joke* that could go wrong actually went wrong - they handled it with both the force needed to get things done as well as the grace needed to do it in a way that was appropriate for a wedding. Anyone who knew all that went on behind the "curtains" so to speak of my wedding knows that without them, my now husband and I would have ended up out in the rain lightning and cold with our guests, starving and mistreated. Unfortunately we were still pretty mistreated as we had a nightmare of a vendor for our venue locations and our catering. Calling them "rude" is putting it politely :) Having a destination wedding comes with its own mess of problems - problems and crappy treatment from a vendor is the LAST thing any bride and her family and guests need on top of it. Just as I can't put into words how amazing Denise and Pam were, I can't put into words how awful the staff at our wedding/reception locations were (with very FEW exceptions). If you want to know the BIG thing that happened that they helped with, read on... To start, thunderstorms were predicted as a possibility on my wedding day, and due to this, the management at this resort town..let's call them "ELEPHANT" ;) were supposed to have a plan B already prepared. This was not done - and of course it rained gallons! So, FG made sure all of my guests and other traveling vendors made it to the new location safely, and then made sure that the Plan B location was cleaned of all of its rat poop, dead bugs, and cafeteria furniture - other vendors such as the photographers helped out as well! All while Elephant's staff just stood and watched! Also, they made sure that Plan B even happened in the first place because Elephant did not want to give up an additional location. My ceremony went of without a hitch and guests were then escorted to the reception location. In fact, during all of this, Denise and Pam made it go so smoothly, I had NO idea what had occurred until after the fact! (like the Elephant staff not helping one bit while Denise and Pam busted their butts doing Elephant's job!)They made sure we stayed on schedule as much as possible, even though the change in location put us back and hour. While there were so many more things that could not have been possible without them, I cannot go on. I promise that if you decide to use FG for your event or wedding, you will not regret it! You will think "how would we have ever done this without them?!" Because seriously - without exaggeration - I don't think I would have had a wedding without them. read more
