I'm not even sure where to begin because this place is now more than just another venue to us. My daughter was married at NH November '23. The entire experience was perfect. Every detail was attended to and even some that we hadn't thought about was perfected by the owner and her excellent eye for detail. We looked to NH for the reception location but due to renovations taking place at our church, we were there for the ceremony as well. That wound up being the best outcome, even though it was not our original plan. I keep seeing people trying to do so much of their wedding DIY. NH will help with every detail and in the end you will have a wonderful even and lovely memories. DIY details added to all they had to offer, but I can't imagine doing everything. They give great advice, but make sure to have your own assistance outside the venue to help organize. NH is an event venue and there is a limit to what that entitles you to. I believe other posters are expecting someone to consult with for every detail and that is not what an event venue is for. They certainly tie it all together in the end but it is your party to plan. Everyone was very professional and organized. There are many items to rent and have available. They have great vendors to recommend. The DJ was amazing and every detail made this a dream wedding without breaking the bank. read more

I had the opportunity to attend a wedding here after at least a decade since the last one I attended . This place is in a sketchy neighborhood, but the grounds are beautiful! I love the bar they've built and the functionality of it is much needed. The grounds, the stage, the landscaping were all superb. Most of the employees were friendly, especially the security guard outside of the establishment. Now with the issues I encountered. First, we were one of the first tables served food, but also the last. A friend of mine waited for his beef option for about an hour after the first plate was set on the table. It seems like a free for all with servers setting down plates just wherever instead of a calculated effort of table by table, ensuring everyone is plated before moving on to another. The bartender was a bit harsh at one point when I overheard someone ask her what type of whiskey she was serving and she harped out "We don't have any name brands here!" Which, I'm sorry...for as much as the couple shelled out for access to their bar, having some name brands would've been nice ‍ Overall, this place is nice. It's quant and very intimate. The dance floor was pretty as well. Definitely give this place a call if looking for an intimate location for your next event. read more

We did not have to worry about anything and although a few things didn't go as planned (due to my poor organization), I promise it didn't matter. My advice to any future brides is, go with the catering (we received so many compliments), and just trust that Michelle will take the best care of you on your day! I never sought legal action. I read a few Google reviews stating similar issues with this venue and how communication was lacking. I called and emailed asking for a copy of this signed contract but never got a response. I'm now paying for legal shield and if it's not too late I'm considering a small claims for my deposit. I encourage people to not make a deposit on this venue because it has a pretty scene. The lack of communication and the way I was ignored after asking for my deposit back is not how you will want to be treated. The owner of the venue had apologized to me and she shared a few personal details explaining her lack of effort in setting a meeting to iron out all my wedding ideas. The deposit should have been refunded in that case. I even paid for the DJ she recommended and he has been so great he is using the deposit I paid him to do my daughter's first birthday. It just proves what type of people you are dealing with when you sign with Noriega House. read more

I just want to say thank you to Michelle and her assistant for going above and beyond to save my daughters baby shower. After all of our decorations got stuck in LA at the very last min, they came through and by some miracle had everything we needed to pull off the theme of the shower. The space was so beautiful I almost cried. And even on a day when it was 110 outside, it was still bearable in the upstairs space. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I had a family member get married here recently, and overall, it was a nice experience. The venue itself was nice, the staff was friendly and helpful, and everything went off as it was supposed to. Based on what I was communicated by the family member, the price was fairly expensive, I guess understandably so. The entire wedding went great, and our experience was lovely, but my only complaints would be the price on everything, especially the drinks at the bar. Expensive, small, watered down drinks for 10 bucks a pop? Pass! Otherwise, great experience! read more

I was supposed to get married here in November and I'm so thankful I didn't. Michelle is dishonest and rude. This place knows what it is doing. It says multiple times in the contract no refunds so when they ghost you and you cancel they don't have to pay you! As soon as we sent over our deposit Michelle stopped responding to me. She told us she would give us vendor information and quotes for flowers however 5 months before the wedding we had zero information! When I tried to text her it would be weeks later with a response, if we even got one. Finally I told her because of the lack of communication and follow through we wouldn't have our wedding there and magically she text back immediately with a story about a family emergency and asking for grace. I completely understand emergencies but why couldn't she say that over the months I was trying to get information? I asked her not for the deposit back but for the $2000 we paid towards our bill because she failed to uphold her part in the contract and refused and said the things she said was not written down anywhere so I have no proof. She is correct. She told me verbally what she was willing to do for us. Now I realize it was just to get our deposit and she had no Intention of doing what she promised! I read the negative reviews and still tried this place out and that was my mistake! DO NOT HAVE YOUR EVENTS HERE! While the venue is beautiful my experience planning an event with the staff was sub par, and I would not recommend. We planned a celebration of life for my grandmother which was a task during COVID. We met with Michelle our point person for the event. During our initial meeting she lacked the ability to provide suggestions to our simply inquiries which left us struggling to pull ideas. She then told us she would reach out to us with her number to iron out details of the event the upcoming Saturday, she never did this. She was very inflexible when setting up a livestream test the day before making the planning process even more difficult. The day of the event her and her staff ignored my directions which resulted in over 20 balloons flying away (which they replaced with incorrect colors). I requested the walk path to the stage be dried it was wet and slippery which was a hazard. The servers were eating their personal meals with gloves they served us with which was not COVID friendly. Like a said a beautiful venue the staff however is just problematic and unprofessional. read more

I had my debut recently and I fell in love with Noriega House from the tour they gave us. It was the first venue my parents and I looked at but we already knew it was the one. I booked my venue a year early and we met more with Michelle as my birthday approached. She was so helpful and seemed genuinely excited for my party and made it so stress-free, especially the day of. I really can't remember the name of the lady who arranged the florals and tried her hardest to stay within the budget that we gave, but she was so nice and they really made the venue look like what I had always imagined it to be. They really made my big day fun and were always helpful! Highly recommend for any event read more

I know there are always those reviews that say "if I could leave zero stars, I would." But this place really deserves zero stars. We were going to plan a wedding here, and at first everything seemed great. But once we paid a deposit and the first installment, the communication went out the window. We would call- no response, email- no response, text- no response. It would take multiple tries to get a response and some would be a month or more later. They were supposed to set up appointments with vendors, get us quotes with flowers, and none of that was done. Do not work with Michelle and the Noriega house. They make everything non-refundable, and then don't do anything they said they were going to do. read more

Noriega House is beautiful but we scheduled our bridal shower and had to change the date. When we tried, we found that our $100 deposit wasn't transferable to another date. I was annoyed by the amount of phone balls we got from the girls there asking if we could meet about the event. I was too busy and I wasn't sure why we needed to sit down to meet over a bridal shower. I wasn't aware that any planning or services were included in the $375 we were paying, so I'm not sure what the meeting would have covered that an email couldn't have said. The management team is difficult to work with and has so many rules and expectations for their clients (that aren't all communicated up front). For example, the day I went to visit the venue (we were looking for a wedding venue as well), I was greeted by a very offputting remark by one of the owners or managers. She said I shouldn't be there without an appointment. Well, if the gate is unlocked and there are no signs on the gate or door, how am I supposed to know when it's appropriate to stop by? They ended up giving me a quick tour that day (even though it was clear I put them out) and explained that the bridal room would be available for me but had all these rules (no food or drink, and I think no makeup). Isn't the whole point of getting ready somewhere to have makeup done and food/drink? We called later to ask about using the chapel as an elopement space. It would be $800 and that only included chairs and it didn't matter if there were 2 or 20 people. Oh, and the $100 deposit wasn't transferable. The Santa Barbara Courthouse Mural Room was far more gorgeous and only $600 and Harmony Chapel was just a little higher than Noriega. Both venues offer WAY more for an elopement so we opted to cancel everything at this venue and move on. It's no wonder it's up for sale! read more

The Noriega House is a beautiful venue but has inconsiderate owners! We would've been celebrating my daughter's going away party for her enlistment to the US NAVY on 02/10/18!! It was an exciting time for my daughter and she fell in love with the venue!! Due to her departure date being moved up 3 months (11/22/18) we had to cancel our celebration! In hopes that the owner would take into consideration the circumstances for cancellation I requested our deposit of $100 but was told by her assistant that the owner declined to issue a refund citing, "it is a legal contract!" It's unfortunate she isn't Military Friendly! My money has no business in the hands of a greedy business! read more

Michelle & Blaire were sweet & super easy to get a hold of if I ever needed anything or had any questions. That day of the party the staff were BEYOND helpful!! They helped setup & also helped at the end! The bartender was super sweet as well! I would 100% recommend this place to anyone! Beautiful wedding venue and wonderful helpful staff. Lots of great locations for taking photos and a really pretty gazebo that your wedding cake can be placed under. It is one of my favorite venues to photograph in town. The only down side side is the neighborhood and parking. But it makes up for it up for it with all the charm the location holds. read more

Never have any events at Noriega house The new owners are very rude. They need to understand they are in the service industry. They have no idea how to deal with customers. First of all there is no handicap accessibility to the house itself. There are no public restrooms inside the house in a gas needs to use the restroom they have to exit the building and go across the courtyard two restrooms that are located outside. For elderly people or people with disabilities this is not always that easy This venue need to be turned into the ADA compliance through the state of California to make sure that it is accessible to all people As I said I would never have any event here at this venue read more

We made an appointment to speak with someone but they didn't really seem interested in having our wedding there. They never acknowledged my fiance or his opinions. Very quick and felt rushed. They promised to email me and never did with a estimate. I emailed them and never got a reply. Thankfully we found better services in Santa Barbara for much more reasonable prices. read more

I don't usually leave bad reviews. BUT WOW. The owner and staff aren't professional at all. Its so sad because the Venue is great. I wanted to rent out the venue for a party and was told Saturdays were not available for my type of party (50's themed.) I was ready to accept that and look elsewhere BUT then the snotty little fat girl with Wal-Mart shoes told me "well let me see what I can do...im not promising anything though." OK COOL. so she told me she'd call me back that day or the next with an answer but never did. I called her back and she gave me the run around. I called her back a few days later and she told me "yes, my boss said you can have that Saturday but the price will be so and so." GREAT. LETS DO IT. I was ready to sign a contract but again she gave me the run a round and didn't call back. I requested to get ahold of the owner but surprise ...its VERY hard to get ahold of the actual owner which is just strange. Well the SAME girl called me and told me the owner was unavailable and asked what I needed as if she didn't remember me. Then she proceeded to tell me how much the cost would be for the millionth time adding "and it might even be MORE than that.." I said "Yes we've talked it over and thats fine." She then said "Well actually my boss said you wont be able to have your party at our venue." ???!!!! say what? Then why did she said I could days earlier? I was baffled that people can a run a business like 12 year olds. WELL later I open my emails and see an email from the same girl telling me her boss is going to try to reach out to me this week and "see what she can do." "okaaaaay." HA HA HA HA....suuuure. I wrote back and thanked her just to see what she would do and guess what? NO ONE has called me. Just like I thought. We had my sister's Bridal Shower here last Saturday and it was perfect! Noriega House is so pretty to begin with and the Queen Anne room was the perfect setting for a Kate Spade inspired shower. I worked with Grace prior to the event and on the day of and she was amazing. On the day of she was actually prepping for a wedding that afternoon but that did not stop her from giving us top-notch customer service. Worst wedding experience of my life. I've been a bridesmaid in 7 weddings this venue and wedding coordinator is the LEAST organized I have ever experienced. The coordinator Michelle gives attitude the entire wedding rehearsal + wedding. Was no where to be found during the wedding agenda activities. We gathered our own party for the grand entrance. They didn't allow the bride to bring her own bottle of Champaign for her wedding pictures. Must purchase all alcohol through the venue. The liquor tastes watered down. They told bride 5 minutes before it was over they were WITHHOLDING the sparklers for the Sparkler exit unless they put an additional credit card on file, to charge for board game missing pieces THAT WERE INDEED NOT MISSING, (said it was policy and would reimburse if they found the pieces). Multiple cars got broken into. ALL STREET PARKING. Located in the WORST part of Bakersfield. Pay extra to get married somewhere else. This is the tackiest venue and staff I have come across. read more

One of my friends rented this venue for February for her daughter's going away party to the US Navy. Unfortunately they changed the departure date to next week so the party had to be cancelled. This place was contacted of the issue and they were unsympathetic and refused to give the deposit back. To start off, I will say how much I LOVE the Noriega House. It is so beautiful and I cannot wait to marry the love of my life there. I have had welcoming and loving vibes from one of their coordinators, Jordan, since day one. She is amazing, sweet & full of ideas. I set my date back in March 2018. Was told 1/2 (including my first initial deposit) was due in July. I paid early, and a little extra. Then, I was told to meet the owner, Michelle. I have never seen her before. She doesn't seem very active in any of the coordinating of events. Anyways, I have a good meeting with her. Added some minimal stuff, then "added" a GOAL for my fiancé and I to meet to save for our possible open bar. This increased my total by a significant amount Got a new email last night about how I now have a new payment due in about 2 weeks.. for a little over $1,000... Which was not told me when I met with her last Friday. I'm PISSED! I know I have to pay them. But when you're told from the beginning that 50% is due 90 days after the contract is signed and the remained 50% is due 30 days before the wedding (Mind you I have until April 2019) and get a random ass bill while you have many other expenses to do at the moment, it makes you step back and question if this place is really ran by someone who knows what they are doing. I was not informed that because of small changes and adding a big goal would effect how much was due at a random decided date (WITH BARELY ANY TIME!), let alone aware of it all. I have been dealing with a lot of other vendors, and everyone has been clear cut & dry about everything excluding Michelle. She has completely given me unnecessary stress and here's the kicker- she's only available to meet on FRIDAYS! I called her this morning to go over the contract and was completely rude and told me she wouldn't be in until after 1030. Wasn't apologetic. Doesn't seem like this is the only business she's running because she doesn't seem to care about her clients too much. I have never met someone who's handled their business so unprofessionally. I have referred them 2 people who have committed to them already, and have talked to more than 10 friends about getting married there. I will go back and make sure they are aware of this situation and I will never recommend to anyone else ever again. It sucks, it's such a beautiful place. read more

I had my wedding here a few years ago and it was perfect. The staff was accommodating and the details were easy because they hire out catering so I didn't have to worry about all that in addition to my own wedding details. The location was beautiful, of course. I love the vintage houses, and since I wanted a vintage and classic feel to my wedding this place was perfect. The inside was beautiful for pictures with my bridesmaids, and my husband's pictures with his groomsmen in the front room. We had our ceremony outdoors and had dinner and dancing outdoors as well. I couldn't have asked for a better venue or staff, they covered all the bases and it put me at ease, especially since my wedding was planned in 30 days- very fast. They were more than accommodating and I have wonderful memories (and pictures) to look back on. I totally recommend this place for a wedding or other upscale celebration. read more

This review comes from someone who was interested in getting some information for possibly holding an event there; however, I was never able to get a hold of any representatives from Noriega House directly after at least 10 attempts. I called the number located on their webpage (during supposed business hours) only to have an answering machine pick up each time. As I attempted to leave a brief message and call back number, the machine cut me off mid-sentence. The last time I called, it said their voicemail box was now full! I also attempted to fill out the Contact Forum via Internet on their website and haven't heard back after 3 weeks. Their inability to call me back or lack of interest for would-be clients is not a promising sign of excellent service. It's disappointing and very unprofessional. read more

We had my friends bridal shower last Sunday in the Queen Anne room. Victoria was our coordinator and exceeded our expectations. She answered every question we had with an excellent response time. Her customer service was well over my expectations. From booking a date to the day off she made sure everything was perfect for us.
