From the outside this looks a lot more enticing than it is in real life. It appears like a quaint little tea shop to go have high tea, with pastel colored walls, pretty china and roses on each table. But the roses are fake polyester and dusty, the china is chipped, the tables are small, and the pastries are overpriced. We went there for high tea and after being seated and ordering, the waiter tells us 15 mins later that they can't do the finger sandwiches. Unclear whether they were out of them or it was too late or too early to order them. It was 4 pm which by all accounts is tea time! So we ordered tea with 2 very small scones and a pastry from the counter. The pastry ended up being £6.90 which was highway robbery for what it was. Also the menu is far more Middle Eastern than one would expect for a name like Fait Maison (home made in French). I should have guessed from the clientele... Go somewhere else for a quintessentially British high tea experience. And for fresh macarons go to Ladurée instead. read more

My friend and I took one look through the giant window of this place, stuffed with the most delicious looking cakes and pastries, and went straight in. Very nice staff, who listed the flavours of meringue for me (almond, raspberry, chocolate and pistachio). Choosing what to get was painful, yet exciting! In the end we got a lemon cupcake and apple & plum crumble, both good. I need to go back to try some of those meringues, and the coconut & pistachio cupcake. Also they have lots of prepared Mediterranean dishes which looked good, especially the rare beef. Only thing I wasn't loving was the hot chocolate, it was not at all sweet which was actually quite a nice change but was basically too milky. If they really want to go for the Mediterranean theme they should get one of those hot chocolate machines. Not that that is my own interests, or anything. We came here to have some tea & dessert after dinner. The first impression was good. Atmosphere was very cute. "Cute" is not really the word I like to use for description but it really was cute! There were plenty of wonderful looking pastries & many different teas to choose from. Gentleman taking our order wasn't very friendly. It didn't really bother me. I figured he was tired because it was getting late. We ordered 3 desserts to share between two of us. (Don't judge me! They were small!) All 3 were slightly stale & didn't taste very appealing. The tea, on the other hand, was superb! We finished the 1st pot & moved on to the 2nd one. Stupid me decided to open the 2nd one. That's when I discovered that the teapot was full of mold inside. Needless to say we were both really grossed out. When I showed it to the unfriendly guy he didn't look surprised, or maybe he just didn't care. The prices are reasonable. The decor is light and fun but with a classic design. My mom and I went during our first visit to London this past week. We're from New York City. We went for an afternoon tea with dessert and sandwiches. We got it thru a special offer with groupon. Substantial food at a reasonable price. Marilena, our server, was very attentive and friendly. We fell for this tourist trap. It looks nice from outside but thought it was just okay. Wife got some tea and she thought it was decent.

In one word: Beautiful The entry is COVERED in flowers, twinkly lights, and the interior is equally dainty with its wallpaper. The service was very sweet and helpful. The tea came in a it's own teapot, seemingly from a collection of odds and ends. And the pastry was delicious. I didn't eat any of the food, but what I saw at a nearby table looked great. If I lived in London I'd definitely want to host bridal and baby showers and ladies gatherings and other events here!! read more

I can't believe this place has 3*! I absolutely love it. Great home made food. Delicious cakes. Calm and great one to one service. This is my go to destination after a stressful day. I love their beetroot salads and their carrot and parsnips roast vegetables. They even serve carrot juice! The staff are so kind and friendly. Fiat Maison was an absolute favorite of mine during my stay in Kensington for soooo many reasons. My place was about a six minute walk from this location but I never really looked twice at it since it seemed a little out of my price range (yes, I tend to be a little judgmental. I know better now). But one night I was walking home, and I struck up a conversation with a lovely lady that worked there and came back the next day. Wow. I quickly became a regular. I went the first time for some tea with a friend and to try their baklava (a favorite dessert of mine). The baklava was delicious and the way they prepare the tea was so cute to me. Everything about this place is fabulous (even the immaculate bathrooms)!. I even went for there for my birthday brunch with some friends and the Eggs Benedict was just..... to this day I don't really have another word to describe it besides PERFECT. Had a uniquely bad experience here. There was a dead fly in my salad which I didn't notice til there were about three bites left. I didn't say anything about it. I just paid and left. I had also asked for a hot chocolate and cake. They brought the hot chocolate out but not the cake. By the time they brought it out, the hot chocolate was cold and I'd drank half of it. There was middle eastern music blaring which made no sense given the aesthetic they were trying to achieve. It's meant to be a very pretty tea room style place. But the place was totally empty. This place is incredible. Everything I ate there made my heart sing. The first time I went in there I couldn't figure out if they had scones or not and in my socially anxious glory ordered a lemon drizzle cake by accident without knowing what it was. Now let me tell you, it was the best cake I've ever had in my entire life. It was incredible, so I kept coming back during my stay in london. Ten stars! This is a place of beauty and more importantly, everything tastes as delicious as it looks. Cute, clean, and extremely friendly service. What a true and genuine treasure. We walked by and saw the display of gorgeous edibles in the window and then made a mental note to return the next morning and so glad we did! This is one of the most charming places I have seen in the area. Once you get to Kensington High Street there are a lot of chains with zero appeal so this is a welcome and treasured change. We came in on Christmas Eve and surprise! 50% off all of the food. What a truly special touch. We ordered quiche, a delicious avocado tomato salad, divine chocolate chip cookies, heavenly coconut pistachio cake, perfectly moist and crumbly blueberry muffins and two very hot beverages for right around £12! Love this place! I was studying here for a week at Boston University's London campus and ate breakfast/brunch here every day after trying a few other Gloucester Road locations and being disappointed. The staff (especially the owners) are super friendly and hard working but it's the food that's the attraction. The full English breakfast is great, but come after 10:30 for the incredible display of homemade (fait maison) vegetarian and meat based selections from the deli counter. Choose 3 - 4 sides to make a really delicious meal of fresh and healthy vegetable dishes and then add a roasted chicken or grilled salmon slice to round it out. Oh and the espresso has a wonderfully creamy head and will get your day off to a great start. read more

After having lunch around the corner a friend and I saw the amazing window display of this cafe and just had to give it a try. My friend and I shared a cupcake that was almost to pretty to eat! It was delicious and so decadent !! To help pass the decadent cupcake we also ordered som tea which was just as great as out dessert. I ended up getting take away for my boyfriend.
