What an experience we had at Falafel! The owner greeted us at the door, offering us samples of olives and suggesting different menu items to try. We did indeed have those olives and some pita bread for the road. The pita bread was so soft and fluffy, and also stayed warm throughout our night. The olives were marinated to perfection, and we recieved a healthy amount! I think the real amazing part of this was the story we'll have dancing with the owner, and how he made us feel- apart of the family. It takes a lot for me to go to to the trouble of reviewing something but this was horrible. Kibbeh tasted like straight grease. Baklava was soggy and cold??? Schwarma wrap had no flavor. Would not recommend. read more

There were falafels of several different varieties, and I had the Palestinian Falafel plate, which came with six crunchy spiced chickpea fritters along with a grainy hummus and a salad of lettuce, tomatoes, pickled cucumbers and red cabbage, parsley, and olives. I also tried the Mixed Shish plate, which came with a chicken kebab and lamb kofta (minced lamb) kebab, which were both flavorful but slightly dry. Whether it's the middle of the day or, like me, it was near 1 am on a Thursday/Friday Falafel is a welcoming beacon of delicious hope. The place even at this hour was somewhat busy, but the food was coming out quick and delicious. I grabbed a mix of chicken and lamb. Both were good, but the lamb was absolutely incredible and I would definitely get all lamb next time i'm in town. Needless to say I didn't photograph anything but simply devoured it all since I hadn't eaten all day. But the fresh bread, the sauces, the meat and toppings, all bright happy crisp and lovely. Food was excellent! We got a chicken shawarma and the grilled lamb, plus a babaganoush. We made it a "meal" for an extra 4 euros and you could add a drink and fries. We walked in on a Wednesday afternoon and were sat in the booth facing the street. The windows were open and the tile work, decore, and music had a great vibe. It was cold and windy this afternoon and were able to close the windows and still look out on the street. We had green tea and mint tea. They came in large glasses. We also ordered 2 wraps and a Turkish plate. The food was delicious and generously portioned. They put out 2 large containers of sauces for you to use. It was also extremely affordable. It was our last night in Dublin and my friend and I were looking for something to eat before heading back to the hotel and stumbled in the Temple bar area. We wanted to sit outside to take in the scenery and life of the area. I love Mediterranean food and this place fit the bill. Just writing this is making be crave this place! When we walked in it was slow, it was also Sunday around 7pm. One thing about Dublin is a lot of places close early as not that many local people go out late. We we're greeted by some nice men who took our order. After we went to sit but noticed only one chair was outside so we asked to bring out a chair from inside to the outside table. The man who seemed like the owner said no problem. We sat outside and waited for our food which didn't take long. The presentation was more than I expected actually. I was impressed. Who would think that some of the best food I would have in Dublin would be a place called Falafel, well it was. This place reminds me of Pita Inn back home in Skokie, Illinois!! We came here at the end of our pub filled night. They are open late. The food comes in pretty good portions, full of flavor, and delicious. A lot of places open after hours are either oily, fried or heavy, but this is a legit good meal. The staff are friendly, place is pretty clean. Oh and my favorite part, they have hookah. Freshly made tasty food, decent price and friendly staff. I'm not usually a kebab kind of guy but I felt this place was different and didn't have that typical grimy kebab shop vibe. I gave it a try and I was very happy indeed! Interior is inviting, friendly and laid back (with shisha pipes available for use). It all seems kind of cool. Food is prepared fresh (I watched!) and food presentation is quite good for a kebab shop - you even get metal knives and forks and ceramic plates. I'll upload a pic. I've had really good middle eastern food and this is definitely not good middle eastern food. The dishes weren't very authentic and especially for expensive it is, you don't get very much food. I think our food was also over cooked. The place had no other customers (it was 5pm on a Tuesday) which may account for the fantastic service but the food alone would make me want to return. This great little eatery smack bang in temple bar has some tasty choices, the food taste fresher than you'd get from other Kebab places. I went for the chicken special with humus & tabouleh. It came with a side of naan and was just what I needed. They also hire Hookah pipes we were watching a few guys relaxing whilst enjoying theirs in the open window.
