I'm a regular rider and was looking for a new place to trail ride with my less-horsey friends. I found this place online and I'm glad I did. Kelly and her staff are great! The trail horses we rode out on we're mostly retired cow horses who were very well-broke and very responsive to riding aids--almost to a fault. Hehe. We rode in western tack and split reins. The trail is very wooded and its a lot of hills and there is a small stream to cross. Kelly was so pleasant, professional, and accommodating! I asked if we could go longer than an hour (as we were driving quite a way and wanted to make it worth our while) so she planned out out day with her. We went out for an hour, she sent us into town to grab some lunch, and then we rode back out a different way. They even jump-started my car battery when it wouldn't turn on. Just had the most amazing horseback riding lesson. I have very little riding experience but Paul and his staff made me feel really comfortable on top of a horse and it was a very incredible experience to enjoy. I plan on coming back for a trail ride in a few weeks, which I heard was also great experience from previous customers. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

I own a horse and mostly trail ride but my girlfriend and I wanted to try working cattle and we came across Falcon Ridge online. We didn't know what to expect (having been to all kinds of barns in the area), but wow, Falcon Ridge was a really wonderful surprise. The barn was very clean and the two horses we rode (Bud and Magic) were both very well cared for (clean stalls with hay and fresh water, nicely trimmed feet, clearly well fed) and sweet on the ground. The tack they had was very high quality and the indoor arena was nice and large with good footing. Our horses were clearly very talented and responsive under saddle - both had reining backgrounds and were naturally "cowy". The lesson was great and we both got several opportunities to sort two different herd of cattle (who were also clearly well treated and seemed "fresh"). Paul is clearly passionate about cattle work and horsemanship and it shows in the facility he's created. It's cool to see such a vibrant "cowboy scene" so close to New York City - they have regular shows and competitions with prizes not only in ranch/arena sorting but also it looks like they do barrels/pole bending and other western stuff. The day of our lesson there were 8-10 people who had trailered their horses in for arena sorting practice. Highly recommended! read more

My friends and I went upstate and thought it'd be fun to go horseback riding, so we went to this place. The price was $35 for a 1-hour lesson. There were 5 of us, so they grouped us all together in that 1 hour for $35/each and we ended up having to switch off and only got to be on the horses for about 25 minutes tops in their corral. They asked if I was experienced and I said "I used to ride but haven't been on a horse in over 10 years, so not really." They gave me a specific horse to ride after hearing that information. I had no idea if that meant that the horse I was going on was more stubborn? Maybe it was older? I had a bad feeling before I got on the horse and almost passed on the whole thing. I was riding for about 10 minutes and suddenly the horse took off and bucked me off of it-- we didn't have helmets. I flew over the horse's head and rolled on the ground, thankfully I didn't break anything. I had such an adrenaline rush from being scared sh*tless that I felt fine and said "I'm okay." They said "Oh that horse has NEVER done that before, want to get back on?" I declined, since I'm no masochist. The woman who was part of the staff was very apologetic and nice about everything, the guy was very "Ahh, suck it up, kiddo. You're fine!" I started to really feel the fall I took on the drive home and ended up needing to get an x-ray and go on pain medication. If I could attach pictures to this, I would show you the football-sized bruises and welts on my legs and arms. The dude from this place called me the following Monday and didn't leave a message so I assumed he was making a gesture to make sure I wasn't going to try to sue them and then when he got to my voicemail, he was over it and moved on. Anyway, my point is-- sure, I signed a waiver, but I ended up calling back these people to ask for my money back since I was only on the horse for under 10 minutes and ended up spending $200 on doctors and a Rx for steroid medication to make the swelling go down in my back. The guy I talked to said "Sure, no problem, text me your address and I'll put a check in the mail today" and never sent it. So my complaint is really just about bad customer service from seemingly decent people. If it were me, I would not make a person pay for a lesson if my horse kicked them off because that is bad form. If I had been riding for an hour I wouldn't have even asked, since I would have been paying for the lesson provided. Not only did I not get what I paid for, I basically spent $35 to have the crap kicked out of me. read more

The staff are so friendly and helpful! The horses were clean and well trained, I never once felt uncomfortable during the trail ride. Afterwards they allowed us to stick around and play with the minature horses (so adorable) and did not rush us out to get to their next lessons or trail rides. It was a great weekend activity and my group plans to return next month for another trail ride! HIGHLY RECOMMEND :) read more

I will start off by saying I have never been around a horse and definitely never rode one before. My wonderful boyfriend always hears me say I would like to go horseback riding one day, so, he surprised me and took me here.. The first person we met was little Rachel. She walked us right up to meet Melissa. Not only is she very knowledgeable about the horses and farm life, but, she is also a retired Marine! Then we met the farm manager Kelly. She was extremely nice and very experienced with the horses. They introduced us to all of the amazingly gorgeous horses then showed us how to get on them and then took us through a very relaxing ride through their trail. I had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend this ranch to anyone who is thinking about learning to ride a horse or just wants a leisurely stroll through nature.
