This ride was closed for a good while but it is open! I noticed it working on our last visits earlier this year. Talk about intense! If you are one that likes drops, then look no further! This ride not only takes you up high this tower, the seats then retract to leave you facing the ground, leaves you there for what I estimated to be about 20-30 seconds, and then drops you as you are still facing the ground. As you get closer to the ground, seats are moved back to original position. read more

Ok so I would never ride this thing in my life!! Scared of heights and scared of rides that drop you suddenly. My daughter however chose to ride this past weekend when we visited the park. The wait time wasn't long and the staff they have working the ride is very attentive to the needs of guests and ensures their safety. They check the height of young riders before they can even enter the line and are very organized with positioning riders in the waiting areas prior to getting on the ride. My daughters friend got in a panic after boarding the ride, she raised her hands and called the staff over letting them know she didn't want to ride any longer. They immediately halted things and unlocked her, escorting her off the ride. I felt with the level of attention and coordination of the staff that the girls were safe. There is plenty of areas around the ride where you can view riders and take pictures. read more

I finally got a chance to ride this ride multiple times and quite enjoyed it as there is no drop tower like no other. However, if it does get busy, the line can move slow and as it takes them awhile for you to strap on the restraints. I would say definitely be patient as this is a drop tower like no other as you face down. I would highly recommend this read more

Before Iron Gwazi opened this was my favorite ride at Busch Gardens, Tampa Bay. There is usually a wait since it does take a bit to load and unload people. I normally don't like drop tower rides but because you turn 90° toward the ground at the top before dropping it is similar to an acceleration from stop on a normal coaster. People scream like crazy. The shortness of this ride is easily offset by the shear terror you experience at the top! The wait is worth it, and usually shorter than you think as the ride holds a ton of people. You're going to have to remove everything that isn't attached well (glasses, hats, cell phones.) At the top, they tip the chairs so that you are hanging against your restraints and you truly feel like you're going to fall out. Once released, the free-fall is amazing and the landing controlled and not jerky at all. Great bucket list accomplishment if you're afraid of heights :) read more

Falcon's Fury is Busch Gardens newest attraction for those of us who love the rush of adrenaline much more than we love good old-fashioned common sense. The ride is officially described as a free-standing Sky Jump drop tower attraction which lifts you and 31 of your dearest friends to a height of 335 feet above the park, giving you a spectacular view of Tampa (assuming that you keep your eyes open). I had the chance to ride Falcon's Fury during it's soft opening, and enjoyed it so much that I got right back in line to ride it a second time that afternoon. This time, it was a night, during our Yelp-O-Scream event, and it was a whole different experience. You're seated 8 riders to a side, in a square lift mechanism that slowly hikes you up and up and up as you climb to a height of 335 feet. On cue your seat tips forward, till you are facing straight down, and it feels like only the horse collar is holding you in place. By now the screaming has reached a feverous pitch, and then there is that agonizing wait before "the drop". You hear the click as the electric brakes are unlocked, and suddenly you are free-falling towards earth at about 60 mph. You're pulling 3.5 G's for a 310 foot free-fall before your seat tips back up to upright, and you are slowly lowered back the remaining 25 feet to the ground. The entire ride lasts about 2 minutes, and several people kept up an ear-splitting shriek of terror for the entire time. Once you're back on the ground you're usually laughing hysterically while gasping for breath, and then running back around to get in line for a second time. During the day, the views of Tampa are spectacular and the rush of the ground coming up to meet your face is absolutely terrifying the first time that you ride this attraction. At night, you're able to focus on the lights of the park and the City of Tampa, and the crazy blend of colors and lights on the drop tower really enhances the sensation of falling. I've now ridden Falcon's Fury four times -- twice during the day, and twice at night. I really love this attraction, and just need to find more screwballs like me who enjoy these types of rides. The scariest part of this ride is definitely waiting at the very top. You can try to calm yourself down by talking to the person next to you about how pretty Tampa looks from all the way up there, but it's probably not going to work. I can tell you that from experience. That being said, once the clicking stops and you know what's coming next, you might as well take a deep breath and wait for the really fun part to come... The drop. Within seconds, you're back on the ground, unsure of how you're feeling but left with a strange desire to do it all again. I've been on rides like this before, the go high in the air and drop super fast type, but never facing directly down. This experience made for even more butterflies in my tummy. What's so great about this ride that makes you not weary to do again and again? It's comfy! No need to worry about the harness sticking into you in weird places, your head rattling from left to right over and over, or jerking motions pulling you up and down the whole time. It's smoooooooth. I'm not one that's afraid of rollercoasters but would even encourage friends with the deepest fear of rides like this to give it a shot. It's definitely one of my favorite attractions at this park, if not many. If only you could linger at the top a little bit longer. At night, the lights of Tampa make for quite the sight... read more

Today was my first on several thrill rides. I have never had the urge to ride Falcon's Fury, but peer pressure got the best of me today, so on we went. We came right as the park was opening, so there was ZERO wait times, which I instantly regretted on this ride because I use the wait times to hype myself up. No no! Not this time! Once you're strapped in you're lifted up, and that seems like it takes forever. Then the seat tilts you till you're facing the ground and as you guessed. Drops you. I'm not a fan of drops. Today was my day for drops apparently. It wasn't terrible but it also was three seconds that I never want to experience again. This was one ride that I was excited to get off of! read more

Rode this for the first time yesterday. It was super fun! I especially liked the view at the top and the interesting mix of rushing colors as you plummet towards the ground from the paint job on the coaster. I do wish that it lasted longer or maybe you could do two drops, a short one and then a longer one. Nice job, Busch Gardens! read more

Soooo cool! Many theme parks have a variation of a drop tower. You know the drill, it Bri gs you up, up up and then after a few moments of anticipation you drop to the ground. Always a good time. Falcon's Fury takes this model and kicks it up a notch! once you reach tha top, your seats tilt out so you go from a an upright, seated position to facing the ground! This is by no means a slight tilt, you are facing the ground ataight on! I don't know how tall this tower is, but it's billed as the tallest in Florida, so you are HIGH! After a few seconds of facing the ground you are whooshing down the tower, where, at the last minute, you are swooped back into an upright position. What an awesome way to take a theme park staple and make it unique and exciting! Loved it! read more

Awesome. The only ride at Busch Gardens I felt any apprehension about getting on, probably since it's the only thing they have that's bigger and badder than the Cedar Point equivalent. I'm glad the wait was so short so I didn't have too much time to mull it over. The view is great and being faced down really adds a new element to the drop tower experience. Falcon's Fury is intense! It's a 5 star attraction for sure. My one quibble would be that Power Tower, though much shorter, seems to drop you faster. That might just be me being a Cedar Point fanboy though. I really wish I had ridden this more than once, but with the early 5pm closing and it's location smack dab in the middle of this mammoth park it just wasn't doable for one last plunge. read more

When selecting five stars for this review, Yelp said, "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" And that's so true. This ride is perfect, no complaints. In 2014 when the ride was being built, there were many delays, but SO worth it. The line isn't usually too long. Since 32 people can ride at once, and the cycle is short, wait usually doesn't exceed 20 minutes. The ride ops tell you where to sit (based on diamonds) so it makes it very efficient. You're strapped in tight and go up 335 feet. The view is great, especially facing Tampa and the Hillsborough River. It's especially terrifying realizing you're taller than Sheikra! At the top, the seats tilt and all of your weight slides to your harness. Terrifying. You can be held at the top for one to five seconds. The mechanism releases and you fall straight down. There is so much wind and the fall feels like an eternity, but it's so liberating, just falling like that. It feels much different than riding Sheikra. This is a little less scary, honestly, but way better. You will love this ride. When people "return" they're always smiling and laughing. Just face your fears and ride! read more

I have only been on Falcon's Fury once, but it is an experience I will never forget. When the ride brings you to the top of the tower before the drop and has you staring straight at the ground beneath you with your body facing downward - it's a huge rush. I remember my palms sweating like crazy and being literally scared to death. When the ride shoots you downwards you feel like it really is the end and then it catches you just in time before you can hit the ground. Falcon's Fury is a major rush and is one my favorite rides at Busch Gardens! This ride is not for the faint of heart as you ascend 335 feet above the park. You want to close your eyes, but don't do it. The view is breathtaking. For those who close their eyes, good luck because just when you think you are just going to drop straight down...the ride swings you into a ninety degree angle. You almost have no choice but to look down! Then finally, when you think you have gotten used to the ninety degree angle you will be dropped at 60 miles per hour. Total exhilaration. I LOVE THIS RIDE. I was super excited to try this ride out on my first visit back to Busch Gardens after several years. Unfortunately for me, both of my brothers and my mother were too afraid to give it a go. I had to wait until my second visit back with my boyfriend. I wasn't scared of going on Falcon's Fury... well not that scared anyway, but Sam was terrified. I basically forced him to go on it as he said he wasn't ready yet (he wanted to ride Sheikra first and then work his way up to Falcon's Fury). I didn't feel like walking across the park to Sheikra so I basically pushed him into the line at Falcon's Fury. The wait to get on the ride is probably the scariest part. You see rider after rider take their seat with great fear in their eyes, and then you see them return safely to the ground taking deep breaths and laughing nervously. I even saw a grown man clutch his friend's arm and tell him "Never again!" Once seated on the ride you get all strapped in, and I mean strapped in! They make it super tight so there is very little wiggle room at all. Safety first! You then are elevated to the top of the ride at a slowish speed. Once you reach the top they slowly swing the seats back so that you are facing the ground. All of the people walking around Busch Gardens look like ants! Then finally, a few seconds later, they drop you! And just before you think you're about to hit the ground- splat!, they swing the seats back up to the upright position and you are safely on the ground. Unlike the grown man I mentioned earlier, when I got off my first ride I was yelling wilth joy- "That was AWESOME!!!" I couldn't wait to do it again! Since then I have been on Falcon's Fury 4 or 5 times and I still love it!! read more

Talk about intense... Standing in line is scarier than the actual ride though. While you ascend it's easy to forget what's about to happen. I usually look around and admire the view. When I feel it start to slow down and start moving towards the face down position, my adrenaline kicks in and I can't help but feel like I'm about to fall out of the seat. I've ran out of air in my lungs while screaming before I reached the end of the drop. I wasn't really sure what to do so I just enjoyed the rush till we reached the bottom. I have ridden this ride over and over again. So awesome. It's a 300 ft + tall tower. read more

Falcon's fury is a great ride! It looms over the entire park. From the top, even behemoths like Shiekra and Montu look tiny. The ride up is beautiful and terrifying at the same time. When you face down, you literally feel pressure on the front constraints...good thing they work! The ride down is fast and fun. And the line is never more than 20 min! read more

My favorite ride at Bush Gardens. I do not scare very easy but this ride managed to do just that and it was sure a thrill! For those with a scare of heights, you would be well advised to stay away, as the view up the top is spectacular but then that seat rotates and forces you to look straight down and it is sure unnerving look at all those little people down there! The drop is pure adrenaline inducing and the only thing I have felt that was more exciting than that was skydiving and for some reason, this was more scary than that! read more

Oh man, this ride is something else. A fairly imposing drop tower, Falcon's Fury is the tallest ride in the park at 335ft. I've been on towers that drop you before, and I've been on towers that launch you skyward before, but this is the only ride I've been on that simulates you plummeting towards the ground FACE FIRST. Approximately 3/4 of the way up the ascent your seat begins to tilt inward until you are parallel to the ground essentially hanging from your shoulder harness. Right about the time your brain starts to say "I shouldn't be in this position" you hear a click and begin to fall straight down (again, face first) at 60mph. Right before you think your going to hit concrete (about 80% down) your seat flips back out into its upright position with a woosh and you slowly come back to earth. Drop towers don't normally bother me but that change in orientation kind of freaks you out a bit. Not a ride for the faint of heart. read more

The shocking part of this ride is that when you reach the top, all the seats lean forward until your body is parallel to the ground ready to drop face first. Amazing attraction. Definitely not for the faint of heart. This ride is intense. The suspense builds as you wait in line. Once you're securely in, you ascend up, up, and further up until all of a sudden the seats shift and you're parallel with the ground. Your weight shifts and your entire body leaves the back of your seat and you are pushed forward, pressing up against the restraint that's keeping you from falling to the earth. Then, without knowing when it will happen, you rapidly descend and when you're almost to the bottom, the ride swings you out in a swooping motion so that you're back to a seated position. Excellent ride. When you get lifted up, you get magnificent views of Tampa. The scariest part is when they flip you forward. They hang you 1--6 seconds, then drop you. The drop is not bad and does not give you butterflies when you drop. read more
