This is a nice park with shaded field space, workoit stations including a pulluo bar (I love pullups) a public pool, a skate park, pier and water views. It's by an elementary school and tucked away in a quiet residential neighborhood south of Ybor. Great water views. McKay Bay Preserve, the Tampa impound lot where mayor Buckhorn is keeping hundreds and hundreds of stolen bicycles, and the Tampa waste to refuse global warming facility and asthma headquarters are also nearby and interesting to visit. A bike trail connects these areaas to the area by the park.

(From March, 2022)…read more Never crossed my mind that this would be considered a park as it's more of an art exhibit from the outskirts of it. It's small but has some statues, a water fountain, and artwork that will make you turn your head when you walk past it. As you walk past, you might as well take a turn into it and explore. You'll probably get through it in 10 minutes but it makes you appreciate how cool of a city Tampa is. For the most part it was clean but there's some gum on the ground. Watch your steps here!

The recreation area & housing projects formerly known as Central Park Village are well known in and a major part of Tampa's archives now & then. Take a look at the "Lifetiles" along the park's wall of Black History and near the grassy field that was once a world renowned American skatepark developed in the 70's called The Bro Bowl. The park is about 11 acres yet spacious enough for dogwalkers, skaters, & fitness officianados. Some of the happenings that have taken place include: The Tampa Bay Veg Fest, BBQ Love Fest, The Fight Wright Foundation's Annual 5k Walk/Festival by (Dr. Vondalyn Wright) a survivor & true pioneer of the former Central Park Village. An annual Easter Eggstravaganza sponsored by 1828 Entertainment (Marlon Wright). A host of vendor & market events have taken place at the park as well. *There are local businesses near on the east end (off from the park). ***One interesting note in particular is that the cross street from Central Avenue is titled "Ray Charles Boulevard". Named for his connection to the city within Tampa's Rhythm + Blues music scene and apparently the HeyDays of (R+B) in the early 1950-60's & 70's. *This area was once titled Central Park Village. The park also has a water sprout or splash pad for kids as well as a picnic area. Come take a look at the giant musician statues, murals & more. Parking is free and just in front of the shaded table area.

That's basically what you experience here! "Bayshore Boulevard is a waterfront road on Hillsborough Bay in South Tampa, Florida. Located south of downtown Tampa, its sidewalk, at 4.5 miles long, is 10 feet wide and is the longest continuous sidewalk in the United States." The sidewalk is amazing for working out because it seems like it never stops. I love exercising here. This place can get pretty crowded if you go later in the afternoon, the earlier the better. You can also find bikes & scooters along the trail to rent. The bike cost $1+.49 /minute. They pre authorize your card for $17 but only charge you for the time you use. If you're interested in renting a bike I have a promo code you can use for a free ride. Sign up for Spin and use code PYWOHR4RZW10XV3 to get a free ride! https://spin.app Parking seems to be all over the Blvd on the other side of the street in the residential areas but I tend to park in the paid parking area because it's just easier to find a park for me. Parking is $1.50 an hour and can be paid at the kiosk or on the app, park mobile.

I always made sure that I would get there early as it can get very crowded with other patrons with their pups and the fitness lovers. The trail is a good width but adding runners, walkers, bikers, roller-bladders and those with dogs and some fisherman... you do often have to adjust to try to make everyone comfortable. My little Bears are classic small dogs that suddenly think they are Dobermans while on a leash when another dog is close so I try to be as respectful of others as much as possible, going early helps and you can beat the heat. PLUS.... the views. Oh my goodness, the views are just so beautiful and a wonderful way to welcome to day over Tampa Bay. On a good day, it is not crazy to see dolphins and I have often had them swim along the trail with you while you walk. Can't hate that. The trail does have areas where people can stop and work out, sit and there are areas that have doggie water fountains.

The Sulphur Springs Water Tower is 214 feet (65 meters) tall with a foundation 45 feet deep and has a capacity of 200,000 gallons. It was built in 1927 over the opening to an artesian well. It's an impressive structure that, unless the park somehow is developed into a mixed use condo/retail, should be here for decades thanks to some very heavy duty construction. We arrived early so the kids could enjoy the pre-concert fun, and also so we could get a good spot. There was a ton of (free) parking, which was nicer than the downtown park. However, I noticed a lot of broken glass on the ground, which is not an issue at Julian B Lane. There are not a lot of resources at this park as it's not really used outside of functions. The FLO brought in Port-a-Potties and food trucks. Once the sun set, the place was very dark -- no real built-in lighting, a bit of an issue with uneven ground and no paved walking paths. The setting was buggy, but no worse than anywhere in Tampa. The lit up river tower was very attractive at dusk and after dark. Think of this place as a blank slate, but one where you need to watch where you step.

The Madison Street Park is located North of Kennedy Grand Central, South of Bell Channelside, and East of Channelside Club off Madison Street and Meridian, North of Kennedy. The developer of Martin at Meridian, Ken Stoltenberg of Mercury Advisors, donated a portion of the land he purchased for his property to the park. The Madison Street Park features 2 gated dog parks, an event space, a putting green, 3 shaded areas, a 2 water fountain for dogs, 3 water fountain for people, picnic tables, benches, 5 lounge chairs, a kids play area, climbing blocks, a mixed-use recreation court for volleyball or pickleball, and 2 shuffleboard courts. There is also plenty of space to relax and enjoy the outdoors. I heard that there would be a 51-foot arched bench consisting of thousands of pieces of hand-blown Tampa Bay inspired glass art by artist Susan Gott but it is not featured at the park yet. Perhaps the artist is running behind schedule or decided not to feature her art at the park after all. I hope she does add it when she finishes it. It sounded like a beautiful piece of art that would be great for the park! The Madison Street Park provides a nice respite of a natural green space in the urban concrete jungle of the Channelside District area. The benefits of the Madison Street Park will be improved health and well-being for the neighborhood. The Madison Street Park is a perfect addition to the Channelside area to give everyone in Channelside a place for their dogs to have unleashed fun within a block or 2 from their residence. The Madison Street Park is 2 blocks south of the Deputy Kotfila Memorial Dog Park and 2 blocks north of Washington Street Park. Compared to these 2 parks, this park is larger and superior in every way! I look forward to many more visits to here in the future and am so happy to finally get this park Downtown! It is a very pretty and well thought out park! I highly recommend you visit if you have a dog and are in the downtown Tampa Channelside area!
