They were attentive and helpful. The house needed some work before we could rent it, and they helped us navigate what was needed to obtain a rental permit, helped us find bids and let contractors in for us. As first time rental property owners, we couldn't have had a more helpful team at NPM. Everyone there is kind and does whatever possible to get us the answers we need. One particular awful agency dismissed us and said we could only rent the property for half of what we thought because it was not 'downtown'. But NPM was positive they could rent it for what we expected (after researching rental rates), as they had many other similar houses that were rented at those rates. We all worked hard and fast to get the house in shape, and they rented it in January 2015 for a year and a half lease. We got slightly lower than we wanted for rent, but we were willing to negotiate because we weren't sure we'd get anyone in there for January, and NPM gave us great advice during that process. We are making profits on the house and have felt that NPM has given us good information on our investment. We plan to purchase more homes in the area, and we will most certainly continue to use NPM.

When I send an email and visit the office to ask about terms for continuing the lease (they increased $300/month and asked us to decide in one week), they simply interrupt me and ask me to leave, saying they will reply to me in an email, but they never replied. Then they send me an email stating they have never heard from me regarding if i want to continue or not, as if I am the one who didn't reply. After that, they continuously schedule facetime showing days 3 month before move out date, and complained that we are leaving trashes in the trashbin. We clean our carpet on second floor and we don' wear shoes on it. The staff doing the showing day insisted on stepping onto it wearing her shoes. I don't want to ever consider NPM's property ever again. They are awful. I plaid full rents but they act as if I am owning them a lot.

We told him we could take care of it that day, but he told us... Just put everything in a folder and slide it through the mailbox slot in the door and I'll get it on Monday when I come in." Sounds like a done deal, except... I go into work on that Sunday and notice an email from him saying that someone stopped in at 4:30 on Friday wanting to look at it and filled out everything on the spot for the apartment, so unfortunately, it's no longer available. So let me get this straight, after telling you we could give you everything that day, you tell us that it's not necessary and to drop everything off over the weekend. Then you go and sell the place out from under us? That's what you would call "unprofessional". After that experience, they could offer me a place for free and I'd still turn them down.

Other reviewers hvae said the same thing - it's buried. So, to add insult to injury, I never got ONE SINGLE CALL from the listing. I sold the house to a friend for cash. And they still wanted their 0.25%. STEER CLEAR!

I called the leasing office and a women named Mary went over to my apartment and grabbed the Wi-Fi box brought it back to the leasing office for my friend to pick up and return for me since I had left State College by that time. You may have noticed that The Apartment Store has received quite a few negative reviews in the…read morepast, and I agree they have had their problems, but let me say they have made an incredible effort to rebrand their image and turn things around. This is my second year renting with them and I have always had my maintenance requests attended to rapidly. More recently the apartment store has gone above and beyond to accommodate me. Some examples: 1) I was unable to buy a parking pass before they closed on a Friday and they allowed me to park in the lot for that weekend plus the following Monday 2) they did a promotion that rewarded you with $100 should you refer a friend who rents an apartment with them and had previously gone through another company, and they let me use my roommate to refer my friends to the apartment I was living in the following year so that I received the payout 3) I received my entire security deposit promptly when moved out and my roommates stayed 4) they accidentally overcharged my account an extra month's rent but cut a check immediately to refund the money That being said, there are still a few issues the apartment store needs to fix. I've noticed some of the dryers don't properly dry clothes. Also, My roommates and I were charged about $75 for them to pick up and throw away a slip of paper that had one of my roommates name on it The apartment store has really screwed people over in the past but I think that with their new management they are heading in the right direction

And lastly, there was a major issue with the management team that was never resolved. These people are atrocious. This was truly a learning experience.
