PLEASE DONT RENT FROM HENDRICKS. they give false advertisement and they at first claimed we only needed to give them first months and security deposit but then the second we were about to sign the lease they wanted us to pay an additional 1500 for "last months rent". I didn't even receive a key yet, was not made aware of the possible last months rent, and was not in contact for about 3 weeks awaiting to hear back. i explained to them multiple times that my lease would end on oct 31st but proceeded to wait till the day before to tell me for me to sign and start moving in. Keep in mind I already previously gave them almost 2,095 in fees already weeks prior to even hear back. very sketchy , unprofessional, and the landlord tried making us feel small since we knew what we were talking about. they are trying to trick young adults, please still be aware. read more

My boyfriend and I lived here for over a year and hardly had any issues. Whenever we called for maintenance, they came and fixed it in a timely manner. I had to send a big check through the mail for my parking spot and when I emailed and called 2 times each to confirm that they received it after a few days, I didn't get a response until the third time, and the lady was so rude. Don't bother even calling these clowns. We scheduled an appointment to see two properties with 'Susan'. Confirmed the appointments by email and phone. Drove an hour and half to State College for the appointments, and she never showed up. When we tried to reach her by phone, we were told she was on a call and unavailable. After explaining why we were calling, the guy who answered the phone said the appointment was cancelled because the first location was rented out, and the second location had a tenant who was refusing to open up for a showing. They take advantage of college students have been in trouble in the past for wrongfully withholding the entire security deposit with false claims about things that were "wrong with the home". We left our home in better condition then when we moved in and our entire security deposit was taken and they claimed we owed $25 on top of that. They exaggerated the cost of many of the issues that we were charged for, and we were charged for labor to fix a window MONTHS before it was fixed. I could go into much more details of the way the screwed us out of our security deposit, but Ill save you the long read. PLEASE do not rent from them and learn from my mistake. I was in need of a cheap place quickly so I disregarded all the bad reviews but I wish I hadn't now that Im moved out with no return of a security deposit. To add to the fire, they are extremely unprofessional and very rude. Susan the main lady in the office always had an attitude and they were very unorganized and their office is DISGUSTING. Rodney tries to be slick and talks extremely fast when explaining prices to confuse college students who likely have never rented a home before. If I could give this landlord/rental agency less than one star, I would. Let me begin with this advice: DO NOT RENT FROM HENDRICKS INVESTMENTS. As a tenant, you will be neglected with almost every phone call. Have a problem? Be prepared to call numerous times, and for the help to not show up for a few days after that. When the help comes, they will have no idea the problem so it will take multitiple attempts to fix it, and finally about 2 weeks after your initial issue occured, you will have it fixed to the bare minimum (I'm talking duct-tape on vents, glued cabinets, etc). But do not worry, you will receive an astronomical bill for those labor and materials! The properties' themselves are very old and in bad condition, and you will move in with the place uncleaned. Upon our move in date, we had to call the landlord multiple times to get him to come clean the place because it was so dirty and disgusting!! They have people come every Saturday around 6 AM to remove any trash (I'm talking a few paper cups) and you will have a piece of paper written in pen/pencil on your door claiming a "trash fine" for $100!!! This also occurs with lawn care. We had about 4 feet of grass total in our front lawn, but received over $200 in "lawn care fines" in which he has someone come over and spend almost 8 hours mowing that patch of grass. You will receive a lovely piece of white paper in their handwriting that you owe $50 for that on your door. Nextly, upon moving out. We didn't expect our security deposit back because we heard of the past what happens. However, we even got charged MORE money!!! We left the house in better condition than it was when we received it. He makes up fines, for example $25 to clean a cabinet. $15 for a toliet... and so on regarding every single thing that was rented from him in that house. Nextly, fire safety fines occur almost monthly. We never had our extininguisher filled prior to moving in, which we notified him about. Yet when we moved out we got a list of the fines we owed, and we had over $700 charged to us saying "fire extinguisher dispensed AGAIN"... like we were running around squirting that thing for fun! It's insane, a headache, and going to cost you A PRETTY PENNy in the long run. Not worth a dime of his service. read more

The place is run by Rodney and his girlfriend Andrea. Terrible service. They never get back to you when you call and usually it's a big deal as to why you're calling because the houses they own are crap. Holes in the walls, terrible paint jobs, and faulty heating are all well known problems to this company. He also claims that he will pay the water/sewage bills, and then conveniently forgets. It's also really sketchy that they have virtually no internet presence. Most landlords from a "company" will have at least an email address or website. I can't imagine renting an apartment from Hendricks Investments. I simply purchased a parking spot a few blocks from downtown State College and it was nothing but a hell-ish experience. First of all, the parking spots were way too small. I drove a mid-sized SUV and was only a few inches from the cars on either side. Each person had to be perfectly angled in order for everyone to fit. It was a constant battle and fight with the others who parked next to me because if each of us weren't perfectly aligned, the person on the very end spot was basically outside the parking lot's limits and into the road. In one instance, Hendricks had called me and yelled into my voicemail threatening to tow and fine me if I didn't properly angle my car into the spot to fit the person parked to my left (and trust me, it took multiple tries to park and I always did it perfectly to accommodate the other cars, but at some point, it's a little ridiculous). I told them to go see for themselves and they did apologize. A few days later my tires were slashed. Although Hendricks insisted that the spots were properly marked, they were not. The signs were faded so badly that no one knew where to park or that it was a private lot and I had to tow people CONSTANTLY so I could park. In the winter, Hendricks provided absolutely ZERO maintenance to the lot. No salt, no plowing, nothing. The lot would freeze over so badly that it took me hours just to salt and shovel my car out just to do some grocery shopping. Nothing beats the time a tow truck had to pull me out because the ice was so bad my tires were completely frozen within ice blocks (he said he's never seen anything like it in all of State College). My boyfriend's car also got stuck and needed to be towed just from pulling a few feet into the lot's entrance. Nonetheless, it was the worst experience ever and ridiculously overpriced. The staff was rude every time I visited their building (disgustingly dirty, unorganized, and filled with trash and junk... might I add) and they were never there during the posted office hours. Hendricks is simply a money-hungry business that loves to screw college students for a little extra cash and many more fights. Please, take my experience as a warning. read more
