Beautiful park that is such an attractive part of our revitalized downtown. I'm always so happy to "show it off" to out of town friends and family. A great place to take your dog, have a picnic, or just take a relaxing walk. Lots of cute restaurants and coffee shops on its borders if you want to stop for a bite. Plenty of parking all around on the street or in nearby parking garages. Right now there is some construction going on near the Falls Park Bridge, but they are doing their best to make sure that it doesn't ruin the beauty of the area. What is being built will be such a great addition to the site that its worth the temporary inconvenience. There are always people walking, running, gathering with friends, taking pictures and just generally enjoying the natural beauty of this safe, beautiful and clean park. Last weekend during a one hour afternoon walk with my dogs I saw a wedding, saw two couples get engaged (complete with cheers from passersby and hidden family and friends!) and enjoyed seeing loads of "prom kids" with their parents getting their pictures taken. Just a wonderful part of Greenville that reminds me of how lucky I am to live here! read more

My family and I love this park. It's really fun and has some pretty waterfalls and areas for an afternoon walk. The park is quite big and has a lot of paths. Make sure you explore the whole park. It connects to the swamp rabbit trail which is nice if you are going for a run or bike ride. I would avoid the park on the weekends if you don't like larger crowds. Mornings are really great and even afternoons before school and work gets out. read more

This is the best park that you will visit in Greenville SC I assure you! I've been here in the upstate close to 2 years almost now and this place I've found to be my go to spot to get away and see a very beautiful scene! It is also a wonderful place for people who love photography, historic views and nature! The ducks are the life of the party always here and that's what I love about going here ! I can always enjoy some good lunch and a cool drink here while walking and observing the beautiful scenery of the river flow and the whole place is amazing to me! The flowers are always beautiful as well! My dogs enjoy the trip to the park as the like to run through the shallow rivers and play. I've found peppers growing there as well and many varieties of plants which is awesome. I often go here to relax and meditate and just simply enjoy this park! I give falls park 5 stars definitely and would rate higher if I could! There are food places local and convenient to the park mostly high end restaurants but there's also a subway across the street I visit every time I go to falls park. I don't think anyone could be dissatisfied with this place! If you don't have any friends go visit the ducks here! They are very sociable especially if you have them a snack! Absolutely lovely park right in the middle of town. Very convenient to hotels in the area and dining. It's a nice place to stroll through and kill some time, but you can also get a serious workout with the terrain is and all the stairs! Very scenic and beautiful. Greenville, SC is one of those unique small cities that makes me giddy with excitement over some of it's historical apects. Take Downtown Greenville for example and the ever-so-gorgeous Falls Park. There is a building there (gutted down to only the original walls) sitting right along the banks of the Reedy River called Wyche Pavillion. First glances might make you wonder why they let this old warehouse remain standing, but crossing over the pedestrian bridge to get a closer look and you discover this is a fantastic setting for wedding receptions and other events with a very cool urban feel. After a little history search, it was no wonder why it drew my attention. Built in 1856, It was the original factory to my favorite mayonnaise - Duke's who acquired it in 1925. The geek in me finds little tidbits of information like that exciting. A few yards down stream and you will notice these concrete pylons that seem to be oddly placed in the middle of the river. Another history search reveals they were the foundations for a railroad bridge that once cross the river at that very spot. Yet again just a few yards down from the pylons, (after the river takes it's tumble down the falls) are the remains of an old brick wall. A plaque nearby tells the story of the McBee Mill built in 1819 as a corn mill, then later a water powered stone mill. Just above you near this point is a very modern suspension bridge that gives you an amazing view of the falls. Just below the bridge are well landscaped walking parks that extends along the banks and encourage your soul to stop and enjoy it's beauty. There is a bike riding trail that begins here and extends for miles called Swamp Rabbit Trail. It connects several parks together along with other social areas like the Greenville Zoo. On our first visit we decided to use Reedy Rides to rent bikes and explore the trail. http://www.reedyrides.com/ They are a new company and all the bikes were in top notch shape. We called ahead and she even purchased a special add-on for our 6 year old (at the time) who couldn't do such a long ride by himself. It's called a tag-a-long (see pictures) and it attached to my bike, so it didn't require any pedal power or balancing for him. The ride through the connecting parks was absolutely serene and made us so grateful to have the opportunity to visit and enjoy it as a family. HANDS DOWN this is one of the most attractive downtown areas in the country!!! If you have small children, there is a playground just outside the zoo, and Main Street (located Downtown) has a popular scavenger hunt game that will have your children searching for little bronze mice all afternoon. It's called Mice on Main: http://www.miceonmain.com/ You can print the clues from online or pick up a clue sheet from Mast General Store (also Downtown) and begin your search. I believe there is a total of 9 mice hidden along Main Street, which is only about 4 or 5 blocks long. Afterwards we like to head over to Barley's Pub for Pizza and sit out on the street-side patio. Not too far away from the city is a restaurant featured on Diners, Drive-in's and Dives called The Beacon in Spartanburg: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCuhtoxqKXk One hour north of the city is Asheville and in between there are hundreds of waterfalls just waiting to be discovered by an adventurous family. I highly recommend Triple Falls in the Dupont Forest. It is about a 1.5 mile hike from the parking area, but it is a breathtaking sight that will make you go WOW!!!! What's even better are the stairs that allow you to climb down to the falls and experience it up close. Most local hotels have waterfall maps and scenic driving suggestions. So go explore Falls Park and the surrounding Greenville area for a nice calorie burning weekend. Life is so much better spent together as a family and this little city allows everyone to be part of the adventure. There are places you can go and spend a lot of money for a little fun. Here you need bring very little money to have TONS of fun!!! read more

Cute park in downtown. No parking except on street. Look at the signs lots of people getting tickets. Lots of stairs to navigate. Many people had dogs with them and the overlook is beautiful. Can't get in the water Bc of too much bacteria per the sign from Greenville City. Made us sad Bc we wanted to get in based off the pictures we saw online. Lots of construction right now so could t go very many places. Hopefully will be nicer later in the year. read more

A BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO STOP AND REFLECT Falls Park is a beautiful park that is located adjacent to Downtown Greenville in the historic West End. Considered the birthplace of Greenville, the park was founded in 1967 when the Carolina Foothills Garden Club reclaimed 26 acres of land that had been previously used by textile mills. In 2005 a beautiful footbridge was added and it is quite the structure. It is the perfect place for taking in the beautiful views and taking photos. This park is perfect for casual walks, bike riding, photography and just relaxing on what of the swings located throughout the park. This is a very old park that has uneven steps and terrain so you must be careful as you travel along the paths. In general, the park is beautifully maintained and landscaped. There are several area restaurants that offer beautiful views of the falls and if you just travel a short distance down the sidewalk, you will encounter a bike rental service if you choose the bike instead of walk. This park is a great treasure for the city of Greenville and a major attraction for tourists. If you are planning a trip to the area, you must add this park to your itinerary. read more

This place is seriously beautiful. I came here a looooong time ago, and doubt I'll ever come back. Not because the experience was unpleasant, but I've since had a falling out with the friend who took me here. Even though it's been months since I came here, I can still remember how lovely it was. I'm actually a little wistful I won't be coming back. If I lived in the area, I would be out here ALL the time, enjoying a picnic and a good book. I happen to have an affinity for water, and I love the way waterfalls sound. Whether they're small and sound like tinkling bells, or they're larger and whooshing by at a deafening pace. It seems centrally located, within walking distance of downtown, and plenty of restaurants and small shopping centers. It'd be simple to grab a coffee somewhere and study on the grass. This terribly romantic notion seems pretty achievable here. Even though it was chilly when I went, there were people doing exactly that. It's definitely a gem of a place, right in the middle of a downtown area. I think this really beautifies the area, and I'm sure is a great draw for out-of-town tourism. I only wish a place like this was located near where I live. Sigh. THE VERDICT: Come here, take out-of-towners here, picnic here, take your dog here (is that allowed?), relax here. It's such a gorgeous, scenic spot. And since Greenville is so small (compared to where I live), I can't imagine it would get all that crowded here, even on a beautiful day. read more

Greenville residents are blessed with these beautiful falls in the center of their town. I would be a regular visitor if I lived or worked nearby. Very peaceful and easily accessible. If you have trouble walking there is even an elevator located in the building across from Starbucks! read more

This park redevelopment ranks an ultra-high 4.5 stars. Kudos to the city planners who thought this up. Visited the bridge, falls, and park earlier today. The weather couldn't have been better - a cool sunny autumn day and the families, couples, and groups were all out in force along with their dogs, too. I was amazed at the cantilevered curved bridge since it was the first thing to tackle. But, I was equally impressed by all of the pathways along the Reedy to explore. People were lolling on the actual rocks in the waterway, which seemed a little dangerous but no authorities were out there to rein them in. I am equally impressed with the smart development along the parkway - hotels, restaurants, shops, and the Peace Center all add to the revitalization. I can see how the people of Greenville cherish this beautiful park. It even made me think how great it would be to live here wiht access to the mountains and this fantastic urban park. All visitors to G-ville should make a stop here - they won't regret it. Unless, they are a total curmudgeon. Ha! read more

Falls Park is definitely the highlight of a visit to the downtown area. It is the one place I make sure to take family and friends when they come into town. The falls are gorgeous and the landscaping is well-maintained. The biggest complaint I have is that is gets ridiculously crowded on nice weekends. Not only are there beautiful trails you can walk on, there are nearby businesses with great views of the falls and river. There a lot of steps to navigate in the park, but the Liberty Bridge is handicapped-accessible due to an elevator by the businesses. You can get up pretty close to the river and walk some of the paved walkways, and there are so many great little restaurants and boutiques in the area to visit if you're looking for indoor places to check out. Make sure to check it out if you visit the city! read more

This place is an amazing asset to Greenville! This place turns an otherwise routine southern city into a destination! It's a fantastic, heavily utilitzed space full of people from all over. Nearby BMW workers up and down the trails speaking German, kids playing, exercise equipment built in! It's a pretty extensive trail system in a small City and well worth a visit! Beautiful place, plenty of seating around, shade, walking and biking trails. I needed this place! So relaxing even when fully in use. read more

Right in the heart of downtown is this long beautiful park with walkways and waterfalls. Very relaxing to walk through and check out the sights. I was lucky enough last time I was there during the arts festival to catch some live music in the amphitheater. It has a really cool set up built into the earth creating a bleacher-type of area. I had such a good time out there I ended up staying for a few hours after just walking through. read more

Reedy River rocks! A must see for anyone visiting or living in Greenville. Placed in the middle of downtown, this is Greenville's prized jewel, and rightly so. The walking bridge alone is worth an hour drive, but there's more! The Swamp Rabbit Trail, part of the Rails to Trails program in SC, runs right through it, so if you like biking, walking, or running, it's a good place to go. It's located right in the middle of downtown, so after walking, it's a short walk to pick up ice cream at Spill the Beans, grab something at Coffee Underground, or simply sit on the overhang by the bridge. The only drawback is how polluted the Reedy River is. It's pretty nasty when you get close, but it looks splendidly spectacular from any reasonable distance, especially from the bridge. read more

This park is gorgeous, the pictures don't do it justice. If free parking is not available, there is an electronic parking meter that charges $1 an hour, it seems to operate on the honor system because there was no parking attendant in the area. Can't wait to try the restaurants in the park next time! Some restaurants have great reviews and some offer seating with stellar views of the park. read more

We were at Falls Park on Duck Derby Day. It was super festive. Music, costumes, vendors, lots of well behaved children and dogs, too. Walkways are beautiful and there are many benches and chairs for resting a spell. The band that was playing had lots of speakers throughout the park so the music was family friendly and everywhere. There is at least one elevator that seemed very slow to help folks with strollers, walkers or unable to navigate the stairs. The flowers were lovely and not over done. For all the people, it was remarkably litter free, not that we saw anyone cleaning up. Seems that local folks just have respect for their surroundings. The falls were gentle and quite a number of folks, adults and children, were playing in the water at the edges. read more

It is a beautiful place to see, on a cool fall day, or a breezy spring day. The bridge is wonderful, and the view is on point!

This is a great linear park along the river in downtown Greenville. There is a paved path on both sides of the river and lots of bridges to cross back and forth. You can spend a couple hours here just walking along the river and seeing the sights, plus lots of places to stop for a drink or a bite to eat. What an awesome downtown park! read more

Even on a sunny day in March, you can find the park packed with people enjoying the on set of spring. There is plenty of spaces for children to play, groups to picnic, and places to simply sit and enjoy the sounds of Greenville. The falls are absolutely gorgeous and surrounded by great restaurants. When the weather warms up, I would love to bring my own little picnic basket and a good book and curl up on the grass. If you don't have your own pup to bring, fear not, there are plenty of wonderful doggies to play with! Just help keep Greenville beautiful by cleaning up after. Make plenty of memories, but leave it cleaner then when you arrive. read more

Anyone who has been to Falls Park will tell you what a treasure it is. Nestled in the heart of downtown Greenville, the park offers opportunities for walking, running, relaxing in the shade, wading in the river (although this is not encouraged), photography, social events, picnicking, bird watching and so much more. The award-winning Liberty Bridge is the focal point of the park, a 345-ft suspension bridge spanning the Reedy River, affording pedestrians a bird's eye view down onto the river and around the park. The landscaping throughout is impeccable. There are a number of great restaurants and businesses along the river and within walking distance of the park that are worth peeking in on. This is a pet-friendly park (leashes required, of course) and there is a field that is perfect for frisbee or tossing a ball. The park does get a bit crowded on nice weekends, but don't let that discourage you...everyone is friendly and happy to be there, so enjoy the love! Falls Park is a must visit if you are going to be in the downtown area or even close. It is a great way to spend some time as anyone who has been there will tell you. Lovely atmosphere- this place is family friendly and lovely for a stroll with other people or a dog. Saturday night the atmosphere is great and you can grab a drink or a snack at one of the amazing bars or restaurants. No need for hiking shoes, a light sneaker will do. read more
