Stunning Riverwalk and downtown area in Greenville SC. The Riverwalk itself is a gorgeous area with waterfalls near a lot of restaurants and shops as well. We walked for 2 miles along the river before turning around. There is a zoo if you keep going along the path. The main area/park is the best part if you're short on time. OMGG!! This place is AAHHMAAZZING!! My husband and I took a little Memorial Day Weekend get-a-way and decided to spend the day here! Glad we did! We had a great day! It was very GORGEOUS weather and we had a ball! This is unlike any park that I've been too, or any park we have where I live (and we have a few)! Doesn't even compare! I actually saw this advertised on the Greenville, S.C. commercials that have been playing on t.v. lately in my location. What drew me to it initially was seeing the bridge (found out it's called Liberty Bridge)! I was like, "hey, let's make a trip here so that I can attempt to face my fear of heights". Iconic Greenville attraction with the waterfall roaring along the Reedy River right through downtown. This park is just below Main Street and is most recognizable by the Liberty Bridge over the falls- a beautiful engineered curved suspension bridge. The park is easily accessed from main roads with nearby parking and there are several entrances from pedestrian walkways downtown and the Swamp Rabbit Trail. There are a good number of stairs throughout the park but most areas have ramps or elevators nearby making the park accessible. The park itself is beautifully landscaped and well maintained year round. There are rock hardscapes alongside grassy lawns with mature trees and seasonal flowerbeds. And of course there is a waterfall, which you can view from overhead or walk down and explore from below the cascade. read more

This was such a cute, spacious, and clean park in the heart of downtown. There's food and shopping nearby if you're done admiring the animals (especially ducks) and waterfall. There were benches and swings throughout the park where you're able to sit and relax. The suspension bridge had a nice view of the park and waterfall as well. I absolutely love being outside in nature and waterfalls are so calming. We happened to be in town during the recent "snowstorm" but still wanted to get a view of the falls. Before leaving, we decided to go out there in the snow and cold and it was more than I could've imagined. I almost want to say that it was better than seeing a waterfall in the spring, summer, or fall. There was snow and a few people took the time to build snowpeople near the falls and, although I was cold, I honestly didn't care. I even recorded a video and sent it to my students. Who knew there could be an actual waterfall and river going through a downtown area. Greenville is a lovely place. We cannot wait to visit again. read more

If I were to ever consider writing a one word review it would be about this place. And that word would be, "wow". Okay, maybe "wow" and "breathtaking". Wait, and "mindfulness personified". Alright, alright I guess I will never be capable of writing a one word review so I might as well get a typing. I love all things urban. I love the smell of coffee and concrete and yes, even wet garbage in the morning. I love the sounds of cars and public buses and people crossing the street in a hurried pace. I love seeing the sun reflect off towering buildings and street corner vendors alike. I am made to live in the city. What I underappreciate (I can be honest about myself) and find myself unenthused about is the outdoors. I know I should love Mother Nature. The relaxation, the clean air, the smell of rain permeating the earth. I just don't. I get annoyed by gnats and flies and a lack of hot water and readily-available pour over coffee. So imagine the joyous surprise when I found the two could coexist. Such is the case in Greenville, SC. Only minutes after sipping the ecstasy in a cup that is Methodical Coffee (another review for another day) and enjoying small batch ice cream, I learned that there, amidst the sidewalks and rumbles of the city, existed a waterfall. This is no singular waterfall, where one might be tempted to smirk and continue about their day. No, this waterfall ascends from a calm stream into a mighty force of water before your eyes. You soon realize why people bring blankets and picnic baskets to the grassy areas surrounding this wonder. There is a suspension bridge so you can get that profile pic that will make everyone jealous and live music to be heard on the multiple levels of steps. It is a wellspring of peace and tranquility and a testament to the efforts of this city to reinvent itself over the past number of years. I came to Greenville for a wedding. I had no idea that this town was so cute!!! I was pleasantly surprised! A block away from my hotel was Falls Park - gorgeous grounds. Well kept . Adorned with beautiful flowers . Suspension bridge to walk above the waterfalls and there also walk ways everywhere that will get you down below the the base of the falls where many ducks and geese were roaming about and not very scared of people quite surprisingly! We were looking for a break on our drive from Charlotte, NC to Atlanta, GA and found this gem of a park in the beautiful downtown area of Greenville, SC. The park is well thought out and beautifully landscaped. There are plenty of places to just lounge in the grass, sit in the swinging benches or sit along the rock walls. There are public restrooms along the path. There are lots of restaurants in the area too. The waterfalls are beautiful. There are lots of signs up to not climb on the rocks or swim in the water but people were doing both. There is a small two hour parking lot at one end of the park but it was full. There is a paid lot across from that one. We were able to park at the government building lot further down for free (since it was a weekend and the offices were closed). If you're local to the area or just passing through like us this is a great place to visit. The park is a beautiful to enjoy the weather and relax. read more

I really can't say enough about Falls Park. I take trips from Columbia to stop by here for the day and spend the whole day in pure enjoyment. You can mosey on down to the banks of the water and watch the ducks. I once watched some beavers playing on the hill across the water. They were living their best life. I was living mine. It was a good moment. Notables: -the suspension bridge overlooking the small waterfall and the park -the "medusa" tree with the gigantic roots -the area down the stairs to the right when you enter the park. I call it the "secret garden." It's shady, has a little stream, and has flowers meticulously placed throughout -animal watching -If you're a geocacher, there a big cache in here! -swamp rabbit trail for walking/jogging Definitely recommend for families wanting a nice picnic, photographers needing a great shot, singles who want a nice stroll, anyone really. My first time visiting Greenville, my sister in law thought it would be a great idea to visit Falls Park. It is located in such a cute area, I loved driving around Downtown Greenville. We found a parking spot for $5 off of Main Street. The paths are very well laid out and the scenery is so pretty! It is super stroller and bike friendly. Tons of ducks and geese roaming freely. Plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. Lots of benches throughout the area. The splash pad area was quite small, but my infant, nephews/niece loved it. This place is perfect for a stroll, animal watching, a picnic and beyond. It's a great place to sit and relax as well, especially by the waterfall. Great place for photos! read more

Downtown Greenville is graced by this rather magnificent piece of urban infrastructure, with multilevel walking paths, ample amenities, and a massive suspension bridge for pedestrians which overlooks the main falls. It's well-lit at night, and while I was apprehensive-as an urbanite-it felt safe enough. The falls are quite pretty, and the whole thing makes a visit to the downtown area much more pleasant than the modest auspices of the town would otherwise suggest. This is an absolute MUST if you are visiting the Greenville area. Falls Park is a lovely place to walk and enjoy nature, right in the middle of downtown Greenville. The side suspension bridge over the Reedy River waterfall is one of a kind and a great spot for taking pictures. In the past decade, the park has been revamped to be handicap and stroller accessible in most areas, yet without taking away from the beauty of the park and walking paths. This is part of downtown Greenville and definitely a nice place to visit, especially on a beautiful day. It's getting harder and harder to find parking downtown but they do have paid parking garages further up the street or if you are lucky, street parking. Yet Falls Park awaits you beyond the small shops, restaurants and ice cream store where you can head toward the water with the Falls. Definitely watch your steps as you'll see people wanting to step on the rocks to wade in the water and rocks when wet do get slippery and then there are the ducks. There are several open spots for people to lay down and picnic or hang out and read. Lots of people do bring their dogs on leashes. When our kids were young, we would come down here and let them run around and sometimes during the summer, there are performances - Shakespeare in the Park, or when Artisphere or any other festivals, this is the place to be. If you continue through the path, you can reach the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities opposite the "river". It has its own fence system since high school students stay at this residential school from across the state if they are so fortunate to be accepted. read more

The waterfall is beautiful. It's peaceful. The park is clean and well kept. There are swings and benches throughout it. I was disappointed the bridge was closed for maintenance but it wasn't a big deal. There are restaurants and local stores on the outskirts of the park. Falls Park is a -Nature Lover"s Paradise- as it is a beautiful place to go and enjoy an outdoor activity down town "breath taking" Greenville, South Carolina. I thought it was a fantastic and fun park yet very interesting. If I lived here, I would come down here on my days off. Falls Park was founded in 1967 and encompasses 32 acres. It is within walking distance of numerous restaurants. There are also several coffee shops and ice creams stores to visit. Not to mention local shops and beer pubs to spend time in. History. Well this place has been here for years as Reedy River runs right down through the middle of the park. Dukes mayonnaise used to have a small factory that still stands today close by. Although it is vacant, you can see it along the way. Outstanding feature observed: Well, there is a suspension bridge on the trail called "Liberty Bridge". It is over 355 feet long and was built in 2004. This is a must see and walk on landmark to do. You can actually see the water falls from it. Just walk about half way and look over the guard rails at the magnificent view. They say it is strong enough to support a car. However, I felt it swaying a little bit as I walked on it. So I kind of doubt it but that's what the locals are saying. Resting places: if you get tired, there are some benches along the way where you can rest. Most are in the shade too which is a plus. The park is dog friendly so you can bring your buddy if you like. I saw several dogs while visiting including almost every breed of dog that o like. There is also a trail nearby called "Swamp Rabbit Trail" that runs for 14 miles. This trail is separate from Falls Park but yet attached to it. Here you can walk, jog and most of all ride your bike. This would be a fun outdoor activity to do. I just wished I had more time to check out (Swamp Rabbit) and had brought my bike. Parking: Well I am a tourist but I parked down town for free. I just pulled into a diagonal parking space off one of the main roads where there were signs that stated " 2 hour parking only". I think this is meant for work week days. Whether this is enforced on the week ends or not, I do not know. I asked a local person to confirm this but she did not know. But, I think 2 hours is enough. Now, if you are going to spend more time. Then I would recommend paying the $5 at one of the parking lots nearby. Especially, if you are going to walk down Swamp Rabbit Trail and/or dine at one of the fine restaurants nearby. read more

I could go here every single day and never get bored! It is a beautiful park in the middle of Downtown Greenville. As you are dirving along Main Street we go from shops, restaurants, and hotels to a beautiful park and waterfall. How is that even possible? The park is people and dog friendly. On both of my visits there (twice in less than 24 hours) there were people and dogs everywhere. There are plenty of places to run or walk, as well as sit and enjoy the view. I'd definitely like to spend some more time there on my next visit with a good book. During my second visit I was there on a run. I love that you can run through the park and that it connects to the Swamp Rabbit Trail which covers over 14 miles! The best part was that a good portion of the park is in the shade which really helps out on a hot summer day. read more
