I was so impressed with the size of this place! This is a major operation! They have all kinds of mechanics on the floor, and they mean business. It's a very clean automotive store, too. I stayed with my car I walked to the stall where my car was to see what was going on. I did not enter the building and stood outside the building. I was told to go back to the waiting room. It's like they didn't want me to see what was being done or wasn't being done to my car. Doubting that they actually did the work I took my car to another place where I could actually see the work being performed. Never will I ever go back to this place. People beware when a service company takes your car and will not let you see the work being done. I my opinion Mr. Mac's is not to be trusted.

On one occasion, I took my daughter's car in. Man, it was running really rough! They could have told me something was wrong with it, and it would take a gazillion dollars to fix, but they did not. Danny called not but a couple of hours later and said it was ready to be picked up. When we got there I was preparing for some astronomical bill. However, Danny said it was just a little vacuum hose that had come loose, he put it back on and it purred like a kitten. When I asked how much, he said NOTHING. We pulled off the highway as white smoke came boiling out of the front. Local shops said they were unwilling to do the repair work, even if we paid. But buying a used vehicle right now is pretty expensive. We wanted to repair. Dave at Dr. Yakamoto's answered his phone and listened to me describe the issue. He didn't want to do the work, but for my family's sake he did it. After some diagnostics, it became clear that pretty much everything would need to be replaced. He did quality work for a fair price, work that nobody else wanted to do, work that required a lot of attention to detail and quality. He's also very personable. He has a good sense of quality, fairness, and integrity. He's the sort of repair man one imagines when watching the Andy Griffith Show. Not one of these big corporate outfits. He's salt of the earth. I felt great about working with him. A couple months later, our restored Sienna runs great.

He is also very misogynistic. I asked him to install coil overs and see if he could fix a power steering issue by cleaning a sensor. I spoke to him and confirmed that he was comfortable doing this before dropping the car off. The coil over install was fine, but the way he treated me was uncalled for and way out of line. He is unautomated and expects payment in cash, but doesn't tell you that up front. He told me it would take a day to install the coil overs, but he wasn't done at the end of the day. He kept it overnight which is ok, but I had to call him to check on the status. Before I dropped it off, I asked him where he puts the car if it's held overnight and he told me if the car stays overnight, it's parked on the lift to secure it and keep the cats off it. The second day he was waiting for someone to help him diagnose a second issue but told me if the car stayed overnight, he would park it outside. (It's a high theft vehicle and convertible so the cats would destroy the top) I asked him to let me know if his guy was coming before he closed so I could pick it up and asked him what time he closed. He wouldn't tell me but said if it's after 5, he'd be gone. His hours are 10-6 on Google and he also told me to drop the car off at 11. You can't get a straight answer from this guy and I still don't know what his labor rate is. Even if it's posted at his shop, there is too much junk to see anything. His shop is filthy and unkept and dirtier than some junkyards I've been to. Instead of answering a question, he would "mansplain" everything, then finally went into a mental meltdown and started to yell at me and put me down. He looked up the labor for the job and told me he was sure it would be less and gave me a quote, then he complained about how difficult the job was saying "lady, I did a lot of work for you" going into a mental breakdown an screaming at me. I didn't even say I had a problem with the charges and was willing to pay him the original labor, and was going to give a large tip if he stuck to his original quote. He criticized me for researching online, forget what he told me previously and say that he told me something else raising his voice are insulting me like I was his ex wife or something. He griped that I had my own parts, even though he told me to get my own about 6 months earlier, called me a thief and just completely berated me for a good 20 minutes on the phone instead of giving me the total so I could pull the cash to pay him. I just can't recommend this guy. I don't know how he got the high reviews.
