The park has a lot of new equipment (which is good for kids between the ages of 3 to 9 I'd say), it was very clean, and there was also lots of parking which was convenient. The one shortcoming is that there's no bathroom or fountain. Other than that though, pretty solid park.

I was able to get a pin that says I hiked the Silver Lake Trail. so cute! I added it to my pin collection! Within the Visitor's Center there is information about common species within the park and information about species that used the live there before so many people lived nearby. It was very educational and helped me look for native species when walking around. There were also several turtles in tanks to look at and that was lovely. After the Visitor's Center, I went outside to enjoy the trails. There are a few different trails, I was just wandering around. I walked about 1.5 miles. On the path, I took photos of many native species and the biodiversity here is amazing! Partway through the trail, there is an overlook that allows you to look over the water and the view is amazing. I saw many people walking their dogs and enjoying the scenery. There were also a few families walking around. This is a peaceful, well-maintained park that is an excellent spot for birding, walking, nature photography, and much more! This is a hidden gem that I would totally recommend!!

One main loop trail that is an easy hike through the woods and along the creek. My brother and I would spend hours there when we were young exploring the woods and wandering up the old railroad bridge. I come back often to remember those days, while I don't traverse up to the bridge a quiet walk along the creek is more my speed nowadays. A perfect place for contemplation and nature, a local gem. We walked about a mile loop around the trail, thought it is about 3 miles total. There is so much wildlife around! The park is so well-maintained and clean. It is such a pleasure to walk around! The main trails are either pavement or gravel so it is very easy to get around. This park is an easy hike or good place for a jog. We also saw many people walking their dogs or enjoying the scenery. There is a huge parking lot, bathrooms, water fountains, and trash cans scattered throughout the park. I also saw a pavilion or two. The park is right next to the Delaware River, so there are many places to get great photos as well! On the trail, there were many maple trees, many types of grasses, many birds including gray catbirds, and some mushrooms. This is a great park for birdwatching or nature photography due to the amount of biodiversity. If you have a chance, you should totally check out this park!

Plenty of paved, unpaved, gravel and dirt trails that offer easy hikes throughout the park. Pavilions, picnic areas, playground equipment, a volley ball pit and pool all scattered about the 300+ acres of parkland. It does get crowded on the weekends in summer but weekdays you can catch a nice walk in with relatively minimal human interaction. NSP is well maintained and has plenty of facilities. Perfect for a quiet weekday walk or a day at the park with the family. For me, it reminds me of a younger time when my work ethic was formed and my love of nature began.

It was still very early in the season so the trees have not come into their full foliage, but a lot of lovely little spring flowers were popping up along the edges of the trails, the weather was warm. The wind was lovely and the sun was shining. The trails are in desperate need of repair. I am not one for actual built, walking paths through an alleged "Woods" A better name would have been 5 Mile Park. This place very much gave me the vibe of the song Big Yellow Taxi "they took all the trees and put em in a tree museum" the feel of the place was anything, but "woodsy" the entire area was built up with wooden planks and boardwalk style walking trails rather than what one would typically experience in the "Woods". Also, they do not allow dogs. Remember people we can't have dogs running about in the woods. (How absurd) we did encounter some wildlife, several skittering squirrels, and a lovely black snake met us as we crossed the bridge of the stream, I guess he too, was looking for his natural habitat. As the days begin to get longer, the temperatures start to rise and my yearning to be in the outdoors strengthens as these next few months unfold; I will be out and about walking trails and appreciating nature, but I don't think 5 Mile Woods will be where I will be doing it.
