He wasn't available so he set us up with Captain Aedon and deckhand brother Zander. Aedon picked us up on time with a smile and wonderful spirit. Aedon put us on the fishing spots to catch four King Salmon, one we were able to keep and ship home, one that was too small to keep, and two that I was unable to land :-(. We also caught a large Lingcod and a couple others smaller ones. Captain Aedon and Zander were both open to share so much information about their fishing techniques and the Sitka culture. Amanda from Sitka Point Lodge was excellent as well. She contacted us the day of the charter to get copies of our fishing licenses so she could print them and give them to Captain Aedon with our delicious Sandwiches. Chips, and cookies. We were also provided sodas and waters. She also asked us if we needed rain gear and deck boots. After our trip, Amanda communicated with me to organize the least expensive way to deliver our catch and a couple extras. She went above and beyond to get our fish to us in one day on Alaskan Air Cargo for a reasonable price. What a wonderful experience! This was a small tour which we loved, only max 10 people; we had 8. Our tour guide, Bret, was very helpful, courteous and professional. He was also an excellent photo taker!! The raptor center and the Fortress of the Bear are both smaller venues so it doesn't take a long time to see everything. I think the tours allowed for 30 minutes at each place, but I think it would have been nice to have maybe another 20 minutes at the Fortress so we could have read some stuff and looked around more. There were so many bald eagles there too! The Sitka Nat'l Historic Park was beautiful as were all the totems, we walked a short loop around while our guide, Bret provided a lot of wonderful information. I would have loved to have gotten more time there to read a bit more in the museum and walk more of the the trails. If we get back to Sitka, we will absolutely come back and re-visit the park and trails. Bret shared information with us the whole time he was driving and we really learned a lot. Worth taking and less expensive than the cruise ship.

Our tour guide Brett took us to the Fortess of the Bear, the Raptor Center and the Park. Amazing centers that support the wildlife is such a great spot to visit. We had plenty of time to watch the bears communicate with one another and the staff at the centers. I also love that there are items in the gift shop that support the sanctuary so purchase those and know your purchase supports the wildlife. The Raptor center has amazing eagles, owls and other birds that are in need of medical help. Absolutely amazing to see them up close. The park has so much history on the natives, totem poles, and beautiful artifacts to see up close. If you're in Sitka I highly recommend you take this tour.

They advise you to use a short & gentle 2 finger touch. I didn't touch any of them. Lol! I was just happy to see these colorful creatures walking all over their tank. As you enter, you'll see a large orca skeleton hanging over the tanks. I didn't get a picture of it, but you can see it in the reflection off the touch tanks in some of the videos. I enjoyed seeing the grouchy looking sculpin, as well as the sweet wolf eel named Wanda. She's actually quite adorable until she shows her teeth. What's interesting is that she's not really an eel. She's a fish. She came out of her home to greet me. How sweet! It was also cool to see the colorful rockfish. There's more, but I won't ruin it for you. We didn't get to see the salmon hatchery. We were too early for salmon spawning season. It's a better value to wait until the summer months to see it. The admission price was higher than what has previously been mentioned in reviews. It didn't come with a tour. They offer a behind the scenes tour for an additional charge. The proceeds help to maintain the facilities and programs. Would I visit the aquarium again? Probably not. It's a one-time experience for me. There's a gift shop next door that also houses Ludvig's Chowder Cart. The buildings are located on Sage Beach near the Sea Walk trail. It's a beautiful area!

The facility to suit up was extremely clean. The suits were clean and had no smell. That is where the good ends. Went o the dock. Met Captain Dave. Asked him if we would be going to the cave. No, way too windy. Would not be near it. We were going to focus on birds in the bay. You have got to be kidding me for $199 each. We went to an outcropping of rocks. We stared at star fish and two small birds for 15 minutes. Then he saw a whale. We went in that direction saw a little bit of the whales back. Dave said it was shallow do the whale would not dive deep so no fluke would be seen. 30 seconds later the fake came up, but naturally our cameras were away as we were told too shallow for the whale to dive that way. Dave waited about 15 minutes more for the whale to come up. No whale, he finally left. During this time very little talking. Very little boat movement. The raft was in silence. Then he goes to a small island we see what he says are otters. I think they were. We were so far away I am not sure. Then some more otters, we were so far could not see them well. Then some little bird with a red long beak that he was thrilled about. He then went by a black sand (volcanic) beach. A couple of eagles, and a nest that you could barely see. Then back to shore. We got undressed. A woman came up to the van driver and said something about being late. So they wanted our driver to go into Sitka. All of us were ok with that so she dropped up there. Our tour ticket says it started at 8. It was now 10:15. The tour was supposed to be 1 1/2 hours long so they ended our tour early. Extremely boring. No thrills-----none. Not a little bit. If you have ever been on a lake in a speed boat---way less thrilling than that. Boring. Thank god he ended it early. Not what was described and paid for. Holland America said how people passengers and crew love the tour in other words--too bad so sad you wasted your money. No love here. Very tame, extremely boring ride. Nothing to recommend it except hat the gear was in good clean condition

She said she would write down our name and dates for a trip this coming June so we could buy our first class tickets for four. We have sent emails and left messages over 30 times and zero response. We just cancelled our flights today. I have taken groups as large as 12 to Alaska to fish 27 times and never once had a business that just did not care or respond.
