Just a 15-minute walk from downtown, Sitka National Historical Park is Alaska's smallest national historical park. What makes this park truly special is its unique blend of Tlingit heritage and Russian history. The park is home to beautifully crafted totem poles, scenic trails, and historical sites that tell the story of the region's Indigenous peoples and the Russian influence that shaped Sitka. The totems themselves were stunning and far more impressive in person than my partner and I expected. The combination of the well-maintained forest trail, the sound of nature around us, and these huge carved totems appearing along the path makes this place one of the highlights of our trip. Alaska in the summertime is well worth a visit!

Captain Conner kindly shuttled us to the dock location (a very generous exception when I misunderstood the instructions). Guide Garrett, powerful waterman of the Sitka Sound (think a younger more approachable King Triton of The Little Mermaid), created the most wonderful day. He knew pretty much everything about anything oceanic or Alaska history and ALMOST all the bird species (it was a Pigeon Guillemot, Garrett). The waters are generally pretty calm on the west side of the island where this tour takes place, so you can get in really close to some amazing rock formations and see all the sea urchins, starfish, eagles, moon jellies, mussels, sea lions, and other wildlife. We did not spot any whales or bears on this trip, but we didn't miss them. It was most enjoyable. You can come as you are, they have all the gear you will need.

I was able to reserve everything via email. Easy enough and the price was great for 4 to golf 9 holes with pick up from port and back. It was $120/person and was a great price compared to other excursions, and who doesn't want to say they went golfing in Alaska! Different from the norm and we loved it! Once we arrived in port, I received a call where to meet our driver. He was super friendly and a quick and easy drive to the course. It was only about 10-15 minutes away. As soon as we got there we walked into the clubhouse to check in and get our gear. The clubs and cart were clean and gently used. We're not pros so it worked for us! We started off with drinks before the range and then to our 9 holes. Range is standard, warmed up and off we went. Greens and Tee boxes are astroturf which I totally get with weather they get. But the views are amazing. Pictures don't do it justice, it's absolutely breathtaking!!! Some steep rides up hill but the golf carts made it! Half way through we were back at the clubhouse for a break and some tasty hot dogs and beer! Bathrooms were clean which is always a plus!! The staff was amazing! Back to the course and forgot which hole, I believe 4 or 5 and you're at the very top of the mountain driving your ball to the hole below. Absolutely amazing!! Definitely a fun experience you have to try to say you did!! The weather was perfect that day for us! Hope to visit again some day!!

We golfed this nine hole course (extraordinary views) which is extremely tough. If you're afraid of heights, don't come here because it's very steep and a Rugged terrain - this is not Saint Andrews links. You're in Sitka. The golf course is only open for about three or four months a year. It's mostly run by volunteers. But we had such a wonderful trip. Bianca is a one-man show here I do think they need stuff at the pro shop. They need Koozies for beer a price for buckets of beer and some other things however what they do have was really nice range balls we're only six dollars a bucket. We will be back.

He knows most of the fisherman in the area so he's always asking where the bite is. When the Halibut fishing is slow, he has no problem picking up the anchor and moving muliple times to find fish. Kayak review Summary/ TLDR…read moreI would definitely recommend SWCK. Gear was outstanding, response time was fantastic, safety was exceptional and the day trip was very fun. Longer summary Mike was very responsive when I tried to book the kayak trip. We would be in Sitka for the day during our week-long Alaska cruise with Holland America (great cruise line, but that is another review). SWCK is a bit of a walk from where the bus drops you off at the visitors center, but that wasn't a big deal. Walking across the bridge to to SWCK gave us a great view of Sitka. Mike was ready with all the gear and kayaks. We let him know that we had to be back in time to get on the boat and he definitely gave us enough time to get back. We were 2 adults, an 11yo, a 9yo, and an 8yo. The adults have kayaked a couple times before and the kids were new to it. Mike is experienced with younger kayakers as well as older kayakers (he has *a lot* of experience). After a good safety and technique talk, we set off for a beach for lunch and then saw a whale in the distance, given our strength and ability to kayak he changed course so we could get a closer look at the whale and she was beautiful. We also saw sea lions, sea otters, and bald eagles. Since Mike is so experienced with kayaking and taking photos, he took photos and videos of us the whole time and airdropped it to me at the end, which was awesome. The weather was wonderful. Needless to say, Mike is very personable and loves what he does. Thank you for letting us share the day with you, Mike. Definitely a highlight of our trip.
