Items which would be $1 at Dollar Tree of 99 Cent Only are $1.49 or $1.99 here, still cheaper than you'd find at a regular store. Discount mart carries accessories such as scarves, hats, scarves, and gloves displayed in laundry baskets up near the cash register. They have a huge selection of supplies for the office, cleaning, and party planning. They carry toys, toiletries, bath and body products, hair accessories, dishware, and kitchen gadgets. There is an entire aisle full of small electric appliances like toasters, waffle irons, food processors, coffee makers, and blenders. Sunglasses and reading glasses are $2.99 each. CDs of Mexican music (with scandalously clad models gracing the cover art) are $3.99 each. The prices are slightly higher than at the dollar stores, but they are providing an important service to members of this community, many of whom may not have access to larger discount chain stores.

I called earlier in the day to make sure there was a case of cantaloupe, a case of hone dew melons and a case of pineapple ready for me to pick up. The store put me on hold for a few minutes and verified they had all the case items I needed. I proceeded to the store and got in line to check out. DELIA had never waited on me in the past and I had indicated she needed to get the item case codes from her book behind the register. She SMARTED off to me and told me she needed to check my cart. I explained that the items were ALL case items and they could not be rung up separately. Her ATTITUDE proceeded to get WORSE! People in line started screaming profanities at ME. While it was NOT my issue. She the cried for the manager on the store intercom. I will NO LONGER be using this store for purchases. I always try to spend money in Delano instead of Bakersfield. DELIA has left me and my employees NO choice.
