What happened to the resort Family Dollars store of Pollock Pines ? It was not well lit, there was only 2 shoppers in the store, products all over the floors . I managed that store with the highest of standards. But when a company side with employees that steal, have a righteous attitude this is what happens. The X manager kathy gave a 2 week notice but then came in the next day worked till I got there And left she brought her body guards in big bodies her daughter. And the big assistant manager. She called the district manager and said she was scared . Can you believe what I had to deal with everyday. They had Malinda A Mexican East L.A. DM come all the way to Pollock Pines. She tried to tell me she was there to help me run store, she asked about dress code of my employees, while as a while she had no professional clothing on . So I end this with A big thank you all the customers who shopped, and supported me as the Store Manager that cared for his store ,his employees, and most of all ,my customers. read more

Mangement is a joke at this store! They care more about an expired twinkie than employees not following procdure with cash handling or theft protocal. Its also generally a mess inside this store. Clerks arnt at the front. Seriously a sign saying you are in the bathroom on the front door! It seems like the employees who actually care are let go when they speak up. This family dollar sells expired milk. I bought expired milk here on July 10th and was told on the phone that I can exchange it. My husband comes in to exchange it and halfway through shopping he's told by a clerk that the exchange can't happen again and that he's unable to get a new one. It's within 30 days right now too. I call to ask for the manager and is told they don't know when a manager will be in and hung up on me while I was talking. read more

I'm a regular customer at family dollar. I love coming in once a week to do some shopping. For the past 4 months every time I come in, the store manager (mason) and a young employee, I believe her name is Chloe. Is constantly fraternizing in and outside of the store. I constantly see them grabbing on each other. I personally don't feel this is appropriate behavior. Specially when it comes to me bringing my two young grandchildren in, the behavior bothers me. There will be a line of customers and we are waiting because they are in the isle goofing around. Very unprofessional, I suggest that employees should not be dating or fraternizing. First off you need to know everything is not a dollar. Yes that can be misleading. But you will find some bargains in the store if you look around. For example I bought a pack of five Top Raman for one dollar, at Safeway they were 39 cents for one pack. Also bought a decent pair of kitchen curtains with valance for 8 dollars. The store is clean, and most things are in stock, with helpful, friendly employees. Was going to take off one star because according to their app. I should have gotten five bucks off my purchase. Wasn't going to happen, even though the manager tried too. As I was picking which things I had to put back, (since I couldn't cover my purchase without that discount), another customer came up to me and gave me five dollars! Hella unexpected and a very gracious thing to do. So I added back the star, for having nice customers. read more

Great location, quiet, clean, friendly staff, impressive clothing section but big cheap, many food items. LA Colors brand makeup decently priced, great eyeshadow palettes. I wanted to clarify what I meant in my post but couldn't edit my original post. When I said people complaining about masks, I meant ppl should be happy when people ARE wearing them/require them. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the 'culture' at many places up here - There have been at least three businesses I have wanted to patronize today but because people won't take precautions I will likely end up doing online ordering from a competitor. I do understand it is hard for the shopkeeper to keep both 'sides' happy- there are people that will be upset either way. If this weren't the case at many of these kind of shops I would be shopping there every week likely at an average of about 50 bucks a visit. I know I'm not the only one in my demographic that feels this way, even if we're not the loudest. Other than this issue (in general, not only this place by a longshot) I hope to come back because it's a cool store and has a lot of neat stuff. read more

After the old Los Hermanos burned down, I was frustrated to hear it would be replaced by a dollar store. I thought "Pollock Pines needs a dollar store about as much as we need another auto parts store". But this place has grown on me. Initially, when I just needed a jug of milk or a box of cereal, wanting to avoid Safeway's checkout lines and CVS' old and expired food items, but more recently to purchase as much as they have on hand that I normally would have purchased elsewhere. Bottled water, soft drinks, milk, cleaning supplies, condiments, snacks, nuts, and related food items, even over the counter meds. Yes the selection is not vast, but what is there is cheaper, and fresher than even Safeway (with milk usually having a 3 to 4 day further out 'use by' date). Staff is friendly, and there's rarely a line to wait in, and I have even been impressed with some of the 'Family Dollar' branded items. What's not to like? read more

While this place is not as cheap as the real 99 cents stores and Dollar Trees, I am very grateful to have this place in town because it means never having to go into Safeway or CVS. The employees here are super nice and there is a good assortment of grab and go items. It isn't crowded and there is plenty of parking. Whether its a late night craving, a roll of scotch tape, or a new shower curtain, this place has it and gets you in and out quickly and happily. read more

Terrible customer service every time I go in there you have to wait for a long time before anybody comes to the register

We definitely need a store like this in Pollock Pines. They have a TON of great inexpensive house hold products so you don't have to pay extra gas or bus money to go to Placerville. However, there have been some fairly minor issues; I bought a seven dollar flash light there that only worked for the first set of batteries, then when the batteries wore out it has not worked with replacement batteries. One time I bought some coffee creamer from the refrigerator and it was sour when I got home. The last incident, I bought a completely worthless, complicated, garbage alarm clock. I needed the clock so I could wake up at 4 a.m. to feed some feral kittens that the mama cat was asking me for help with. No way I am going to let them starve, and they would if they did not receive substantial food supplement and help. They have to be fed before the yellow jackets come to devour their food at 5 a.m. I have been awake every single night until 4 a.m. The yellow jacket trap I bought at the hardware store for twelve dollars was also worthless. So I was looking forward to getting a few hours sleep between the times I feed them at 8 p.m., 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. but no. The clock I bought was a complicated piece of garbage and I had to call a call center in India to get help setting the alarm. No way. I should have known as soon as I had to call a call center that whoever is manufacturing this clock is conducting some kind of scam international business. On top of that, some of these call center employees have left legitimate employment and taken personal information with them to work at real scam call centers. This call center asked for my first and last name and then my email address. Why? What next, my social security number? My address? My date of birth? Total b.s. all the way around. So no, I did not get any sleep last night, and I was not planning to go back out, and it will cost an extra three bucks to take the clock back to get my ten dollars back. I called today and spoke with the manager. She said they do not order the items from the store. Apparently corporate does. She said to bring it in for a refund and I will tomorrow. Then I will also send an email to the Corporate Office. All this for a simple alarm. read more

I thought this was the most awful and disgusting place! The store was a disaster. It was a total mess !!!! Items on the floor so disorganized and not in order! I had to ask for several times where items were. If I could I would give this store a rating a zero instead of a 1 rating. I had to go back as like I said the store was such a mess I had to make sure I didn't fall over anything or trip on anything I had forgotten to get my thumbtacks. I pulled in to park I'm handicap. There was someone parked in a handicap parking spot. I walked in the employee jumped me about a mask it is not a law to wear a mask.I wanted to know about the person who was parked in the handicap spot without a handicap placard oh no ‍ he didn't care he said leave go get a mask so I did I came back in then I repeated whoever is in handicap you need to find out he said it he didn't care well I'm sending it over to ADA since they don't care ‍ about the handicap plus the worker was very rude!!! I asked about where a product is located he didn't know I told him he needs to know the store but since it's a mess they need to clean it up so they can clean it up so he can find things! I spoke to the manager of the rudeness how this employee spoke to me he said he will speak to him but I did not see him walk over to him and no one was in the store as he did have time to do so the person that was parked in the handicap had already left! read more

I love this store! I was sad to see Los Hermanos go, which was the place that was there before, but I absolutely love how you can find anything and everything for a pretty low price. It's nice to have a bargain store up here without having to go down the hill. read more

People working there are rude. This evening while looking around we had my daughter in the cart and a few items as well. We had a bouncy ball that my daughter was holding and in fell on the floor. My mom who was pushing the cart while I shopped bounced it a few times at which point one of the workers yelled from the front "no bouncing the balls." She did see us enter the store and we were the only people in the store. I felt it uncalled for, we had every intention of buying it. Oh and might I add that was the only interaction we had with the employee, no greeting or can I help you find anything. We left our cart and walked out as my daughter shrieked with delight down the isles and I didn't give a damn! read more
