4/13/2019: It's always something I keep forgetting buying at Big Lots and it's always quirky items you can't find at either Tar-Chjay, Walmart, Rite-Aid or the grocery store! The quirky items I found and bought at Big Lots are the following: 1. Nailbrush 2. 1200-TC bed linen 3. Aromatherapy Lotions, Oils, and Mineral Bath Salts -All different scents Referring to item number 3, the locations listed above only have in stock two different scents; however, they never have a wide variety selection available. Referring to items 1 and 2-currently, there are no department stores carrying the traditional nailbrush or 1200-TC bed linen sets: I always scour all the department stores whether they're in a mall, strip mall or stand-alone store within the tri-counties searching for items I need. BTW-Update: I finally found the beer can koozies via my friend, Rick Monroe's and his Tennessee, country western band's schwag where I may buy twelve koozies from him directly; I might even buy Rick's T-Shirt, too~LOL! Bought some furniture from this store. Very helpful and kind staff. Great experience shopping and choosing my furniture.

I love Big Lots! The staff are very friendly and really I love the discounts you can receive from the store with a free rewards card! In November I purchased a couch set and the Manager, Anthony assisted me with my order. There was an issue with the order because it needed to be special ordered. He didn't know what he was doing because I thought everything was ok until I did a check in at the end of March and had found out that he didn't do a special order but just took the payment for the couch. I was floored and upset but luckily Carrie saved the day! She gave me direct instructions on what to do and the next day reordered my couch which only took 1 week. She is the best! and when I came to pick up the couch a friendly store associate (Alyssa) helped me load my rental truck. Both Ladies are wonderful! Great job Ladies! read more

No thanks to the clerk who assisted me when I requested an electronic product on display behind the counter. As he was also trying to help another customer at the time, he refused to just hand me the $8 item and allow me to walk five feet to the checkout line. I didn't enjoy standing there for ten minutes like a criminal while he held my purchase, telling me that I cannot be trusted carry the product to the register all by myself. Apparently, I am too much of a security risk to handle this EIGHT DOLLAR item without being supervised by the staff. I left there without the product and bought elsewhere. I should have made that my last visit but I thought I'd give them one more chance. I wish I hadn't. On another visit, I purchased a bluetooth headset to use with my phone. I got home and opened the box to find my new headset covered with GOBS of EARWAX from it's previous owner. Yuck! Thanks a lot Big lots. I return to the store to exchange the product, and the clerk tries to apologize and even makes a point of showing me that he is pulling my replacement from the back of the shelf, in the hopes that this doesn't happen again. Guess what? It did. Apparently, Big lots only sells products coated in other people's biohazardous waste. I am now too disgusted to ever go there again. read more

A little over a month ago my husband and I went furniture shopping at Big Lots. Found and fell in love with a couch and reclining chair so I came back in the next day and found out there were no couches in the back and there were 3 chairs back there. I then put $60 down on the couch as a price hold bc it was on sale and the lady (did not get her name) said she was putting my name on 1 of the chairs to hold it for me til the couch came in. A couple weeks go by with no word so I went in to check and someone checked the computer and said yes the couch came in and no one called you did they....nope. I said I would be back to pick up but my daughter was having an emergency and that I had the grandkids til I wasn't sure when and that it might take 2 weeks to come get them. No problem I was told. A few days later I got the call that the couch was in. Told my story of not sure when I can pick up. No problem they said they will be here til you pick up. Grandkids went home....shit happened and we could not pick up that Sunday so I called the store to tell them what was going on....No problem they said...so finally Saturday September 22 we hook the trailer up...deliver the chair being replaced to its new home and off to Big Lots we go. By this time we hadn't had a couch for 2 weeks. I get out my receipt for the $60 price hold and after a bunch of confusion and time the guy comes back and says that the couch will be delivered to the store on Wednsday..... WHAT?!!! And there is no chair back there with my name on it... Holy Crap! Your kidding right? Now I am not one to be messed with so I stood up and said in a loud voice I am not leaving here with out a couch and a chair and I will be taking the floor models with a discount!!! I had been working with Kayden and the Manager Kirk.... Kayden was very apologetic and couldn't figure out were the price hold went and when Kirk came back he said my discount was $100 off on each item.....each!!! Plus the sale price on the couch. My God!! Someone righted a wrong! Unbelievable! I am so impressed it made me write a review on yelp. Way to go Mr Manager Kirk! A much satisfied customer and life long shopper you have made... Every time I go to Big Lot's it's usually for 1 or 2 items, I ALWAYS leave the store with no less then 10!!! I am always finding great buys...I have been shopping this store when it's name was MacFrugals back in the '90s and LOVE IT!!! read more

Why doesn't management clean that mess of a store up! As the other reviewer said they sell cheap, cheap stuff. I've gone in there on a Monday and the store looked like a earth quake had hit, not a very good impression. read more

We went to Big Lots to purchase the couch we were pre approved for credit to return the next day to buy an additional item they were unable to figure out how to use the computer system it took 2 different managers we also had to wait while they got on the phone to talk to their corporate office where we waited 3 hours to have to use my own smartphone to do the whole application process again the assistant team leader I believe her name was Carrie was absolutely horrible and rude and I would not suggest ever going to Big Lots if you want to get out of there in under three hours read more

This store now occupies the building that used to be occupied by Safeway, before they got their new snazzy one on Missouri Flat. I mention this because it is the only real drawback to this store...things seem a bit crowded and cluttered sometimes. That said, I always find something fun or useful to buy, and the clerks and especially the management are very friendly and helpful. Go shop there and take it for what it is. read more

This store is horrible. I have repeatedly ask works for something that was not on the shelf and ask them to look in back. They would give me a look like, really you actually want me to work kind of look They would walk back into the storage area move their heads from left to right and say sorry I cant find it. So, I took it upon myself to look one day and found what I was looking for with no problem, I could even see it from the dirty window to the storage room. The next time I was in I'd asked a worker for something that again was not on the shelf, I was once again treated the same way, I was given a look like why are you bothering me and was told they couldn't find it. I believe this was even a manager. I will never shop there again it is dirty, unorganized, and some of the workers are lazy, some, not all because I have been helped by a couple employees that I believe are not working there any more that gave me great service. I take a family member shopping there every two weeks are so and have bought a $600 couch for my last place, but I will not be shopping there again. I will admit that I get better service from Walmart. I hope this helps either someone new to the area trying to find a store or a higher up to maybe pay them a surprise visit to see what I mean.
