I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. I'm shocked by the number of positive reviews given how poor my experience was. Dr. Roth didn't answer any of my questions, and seemed to be following a checklist. He pushed the eye device into my face rather hard, hard enough where it hurt when it impacted my forehead. My eye pressure was high--something that should not have been overlooked--but Dr. Roth failed to even notice it. After I brought it up, he quickly dismissed it, saying he'd "take care of it" as he rushed me out. Take care of it when? That kind of neglect is unacceptable. I literally have to go to a different doctor to redo the exam because this guy was so incompetent. This is not to mention that I was initially told vision therapy would be covered by my insurance, and then told the first part would be $1400 not covered by any insurance. He wouldn't tell me the cost of the next part nor would he tell me what was involved. Please don't go here - you deserve better. read more

I took my ASD son here to get his eyes checked and I must say Dr. Viveros was absolutely AMAZING! She was so patient and understanding. My son has a hard time sitting still for too long he was able to get up, move around, stim if he needed, he was given the time he needed to regulate himself so that he could continue his exam. She broke his exam up into multiple seasons so that he would be able to tolerate the exam and become familiar with her. It worked we were able to find out if he needed glasses. Her assistants are wonderful as well they were so patient and kind. I would definitely recommend this eye care center for everyone, especially those with special needs. read more

Wow! Shocking bad behavior from this place. What a horrible experience here. I called this vision center to make a first time appointment for my daughter for an eye exam. The woman who answered the phone was very pleasant but then I was transferred to a different woman to verify insurance information. Family Eye Care's website states that they accept Davis vision plan so it seemed like all was well and that is what would be used for the eye exam. I was then asked what medical insurance I had so I said we have Tricare as we are a military family. This is when everything changed. Now I'm being told are don't accept THAT Davis vision. I then explained these two policies are not at all connected and my Davis vision plan is not connected to Tricare whatsoever as the medical plan is under my husband and the vision under myself. Totally separate. I was then told it's just our policy. So I said but you didn't even take down any of my information or policy information so how do you know you don't take my specific Davis policy without even checking and there is no connection to Tricare? At this point the woman began yelling and stated it is just our policy and slammed the phone down one me! Since there was no problem until I mentioned TriCare, it sounds like this practice has a problem with military insurance and therefore military families. I'm glad I know thank God I didn't bring my eight-year-old around these people. Military families especially: Stay away !! read more

I have been suffering for 10 months with severe eye pain and peripheral vision loss and was hospitalized , misdiagnosed, and ignored by many doctors . Dr Rothe is not only brilliant at what he does , but patient and explains to you in simple terms what your diagnosis is . He is understanding and looks outside the box to try and help you . After 5 weeks of Syntonic Light Therapy , my peripheral vision has improved dramatically which I never thought could happen and was told would never come back from many other doctors! I am looking forward to vision therapy with these brilliant Doctors and hopefully getting out of pain since I have a Binocular Vision problem which no other doctor figured out either ! If a service is not covered by my health insurance, I have a right to not want to further my services with the practice If my insurance doesn't cover it. Even 1 star is generous, If giving 0 was possible, that's what this doctor deserves. He was very rude and didn't want to explain anything. He just wanted to get rid of us so he can see other patients. We asked the questions more than once and he got irritated. My mil didn't have insurance and he charged the maximum amount when I called to ask how much it would be. Saw her for less than 10 minutes, we waited for an hour. Told us to come a week later to do a full exam. And pay again. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR. HE HAS NO COMPASSION TOWARDS HIS PATIENTS. It seemed that he looked online for her diagnosis. I could have done that for free. Google does not charge arm and leg for doing warm compresses which was his diagnosis. I started going to Dr. Roth a few years ago and I wish everyday I had found Dr. Roth sooner. As a result of an eye procedure that I had prior to meeting Dr. Roth I now suffer from corneal erosions. I found Dr. Roth at a time of despair and Dr. Roth has been nothing but absolutely amazing. Great care. Dr. Roth is extremely knowledgeable and his staff is great. We were referred to him after a routine eye exam of my daughter, who was 7 at the time, pointed towards strabismus. Prior to the exam we noticed she was having problems reading, staying on her grade level and she also complained of headaches. She also had difficulty with hand eye coordination. Dr. Roth confirmed the diagnosis and recommended we start her on vision therapy. We went through the course of treatment and over time saw steady improvement in all areas as my daughter used the techniques she learned to control/focus her eyes. While it was a long course of treatment for her I can't argue with the results. After therapy removed the obstacle of her vision problem at age 10 she went on to do very well in school and actually exceeded the averages for 4th graders on her PARCC tests at the state and district level as well as in her school, which is in a very good school district. I was so impressed that once my daughter finished vision therapy I began seeing Dr. Roth for my own eye care. I had complications from a 2009 LASIK operation from a large heavily advertised facility. Dr. Roth assessed me and offered me a chance to try Orthokeratology to correct my vision problems. I wear my corrective lenses at night while I sleep and during the day I'm contact lens free. My results, greatly improved vision, the headaches are gone and I'm seeing 20/10 (as long as I follow my lens wearing schedule). He also caught the early stages of glaucoma in me and is effectively managing that. What I've observed is that Dr. Roth is very knowledgeable, he loves what he does and actually cares about his patients. read more

This past week I went to Family Eye Care for the first time. I must say I give them 5 stars. Since I work for the County of Monmouth I get an eye plan called the Davis Plan which they accept that's a plus not many eye doctors accept that plan. There're really no complaints they took me exactly at 3:30, also a shout out to Heather who was shadowing she did a great job. My son had double amblyopia, all discovered at the age of 7. That is late in the game for glasses and treatment. He got glasses and had vision therapy there for 14 months. The first 3 months we were uncertain whether the glasses or therapy were the cause of all the changes we saw. After that we had to attribute the continuing changes to the therapy. Our son is a great kid. The quiet, funny type who is great one on one but lies low in the crowd. Prior to vision therapy we knew one kid and school and sports teams saw another. The kid we knew was bright and funny. In school he was literally trying to be invisible. He had no confidence. We have seen academic improvement (he went from a 19 on the NJ ASK math portion to an 83), social improvement (he is the same kid everywhere now) to sports improvement. Prior to vision therapy he could not find a ball in a room if it were the only one. Now he is the one finding things we can't. He is now so outgoing. I used to speak for him and now he speaks for himself. I used to put him in situations to talk to others "Go ask that lady what time it is, etc." and he always balked. On vacation this year I legitimately asked him to ask someone something, pay the lady, etc. for my convenience without giving it a thought and he just did it. I think this is important because vision therapy changed not only him but us and the way we treat him. Think about what that means. We, who love and respect him, accommodate him less because he can handle things he could not before. It could have been uglier for him in the years to come when he was not as much of a player in life and he encountered those who did not love and respect him. They would not have had patience, he would have felt helpless... As I wrote to Dr. Moshe: "I can't express enough how I had decided that some things were permanent and had accepted that only to discover that vision therapy made those things temporary. I am convinced his life will be happier because of what you and your staff did. Of all the things I want for him as his mom, happiness and confidence, the two most important things he got from you, I value the most." Things you will not like but will accept, as I did, because of what they do to change your child's life. 1) It's expensive. There, I said it. But worth it (see above). 2) Little office annoyances: They never seem to know what insurance paid for and they get upset if you get the prescription filled elsewhere. read more

I wasn't going to write a review but one of my friend insisted I write one.My daughter was 5 month at the time I took her to Dr. Roth. I don't know the medical name for what she had but it wasn't anything major. In the white part of her eye, I would say she had an extra skin. It didn't cover her eye lens so her eye sight was great. Anyway the first visit was ok, he looked at her eye and said she is fine but want her to come back after 3 month just make sure it doesn't expanded or something like that. Anyway, I book my 4 year old son for next visit too. He was giving some discount for another member so, I thought why not. In my, next visit he took in my daughter first and ask her name. I told him her name and he says you know that sounds like a name of Hamas's leader. I am sitting there going, what and why is he saying that. I didn't say anything. He was also,being very aggressive with my baby and yelling at me. Mind you this is 8 month baby! He checked her for like 15 min, stretching her eyes and just not being gentle. I understand, he has to be a little aggressive because babies move around a lot but the way he was doing it, just didn't seem right. Most doctors,say things to the baby to make them at ease but he didn't say anything!! After checking,he tells me I used some tools to check her so I would need to bill your insurance company.I was like, ok. Told me she needs to come back again, she maybe near sighted. Now it was my son's turn. He looked at his eye and showed him pictures and kept on switching around the pictures to make him confused. He then diagnose that he was near sighted. He claimed he needed glasses. Oh, yeah he has an eye shop at the clinic. He was just scamming us so we could spend more money. Not only, was he a racist but also a scam artist. I was hurt because I thought that doctors actually care for patient no matter what color, ethnicity, or race. He only was looking to make more money. Very sad. We never went back. read more
