This is an old fashioned toy store with classic toys and modern, cool gifts and gadgets. Literally everywhere we looked there was something unique and cool, the type of toys you rarely see anymore but ones that every kid I know would love to receive on Christmas. The employee at the front pulled out an entire box of them, which made it seem like they were available for purchase. When I asked to buy one, he told me, "I have to ask the owner and see if I can." I stood there waiting for several minutes while he supposedly waited for a response from the owner, but nothing ever happened. Since I never got an answer, I decided to come back the next day. This time, a different cashier simply told me they didn't have any booster boxes in stock. It was confusing because I had literally seen a full box of them the night before. Whether they weren't actually for sale or there was some other reason, I would have appreciated an honest explanation instead of being left waiting and then being told they weren't in stock the next day. Better communication and transparency would have made for a much better customer experience.

Yesterday was my first time coming in, and I loved it! They had every book on my look out for list,…read moreand then some. A total of sixteen books, not sorry lol. All my friends I was with were very happy with their findings as well. The only negative thing I could possibly say about this awesome place was the young guy with glasses that rang me up at cash register two. After setting my basket down and getting out my credit card, I realize he must be waiting for me to get the books out, so no problem, I'm not above that. He waits for me to get all my books out, scans them, and that's it. Doesn't give me a bag to put my all my books in, or even help put back in the basket. No words to indicate the interaction is over until I awkwardly realize it on my own. He was very off-putting. I will still be back because this place, otherwise, is amazing and I want to bring some family members and friends who I know will have fun too.

The daughter being done with her Master's program at Vanderbilt was looking for a place to…read moreoffload/sell her nursing textbooks. She found McKay's online and it seemed to be the best place to do that. Wow -- we were not prepared for the massiveness of this super, super busy place! Being our first time and not knowing how it all worked, it didn't take us long to figure out where to go and what to do. There wasn't much of a line when we started. We placed her books in a bin, then waited to be called by a greeter. Our greeter quickly explained the process, gave the daughter a claim ticket, then we waited. In the 40 minutes it took for her claim number to come up on the screen, we were able to walk through most of the sections and pick out a couple things to buy. I was quite surprised to find so many things beyond books -- DVDs, VHS, vinyl records, CDs, cassette tapes, clothing, Pokémon cards, instruments, game consoles, accessories, Legos, toys, comic books, etc. It was seriously amazing. My daughter decided to take her sale in trade which gave her about 50% more to spend. For the books they didn't buy she was given the option to take them back or donate them there. She chose to donate. The husband loves old movies, art and music -- he will absolutely enjoy McKay's. I can't wait to bring him here! The parking lot is as massive, so I don't think there's ever an issue with that.
