McKay's is a hidden treasure in Nashville. My friend and I were looking for things to do that were not drinking. Both of us are bookworms so when I saw that McKay's had over 300 reviews, I knew we had to check it out. The store is massive. It's 2 floors so their selection is not small. I was just expecting to only see movies and books but there is so much more. They have vinyls, Funko Pops, video games and guitars. We easily spent an hour here looking at everything. McKay's is a secondhand store so the prices of the books can be on the cheaper side compared to ordering them online. I bought 3 books and it only cost me 14 dollars!

Fun store. I love the fact that there are 2 levels to this bookstore. It made for a fun time. I did not find everything I was looking for but I did find almost all the books I needed to complete one of my series. My sister and I spent a bit of time in there and it was packed. The staff did seem to get everyone through the line rather quickly though

The size of this place alone is really impressive, and SO well organized. They have video games, books, CDs, vinyl, board games, puzzles, Pokemon cards, figurines and more. They also buy and if I were a local I would definitely want to sell here, I figure there's a better chance of someone finding a specific item they're looking for. My big purchase was a 95¢ puzzle, no complaints! lol

McKay's Bookstore is such a fun place to browse with endless shelves of books to explore! The staff is friendly & helpful, whether you're dropping off books to sell or just looking for your next read. It's the perfect spot to trade in books you've already finished & you can easily spend hours looking around. Prices are fair, with popular titles marked a little higher, but if you enjoy discovering hidden gems or waiting until the hype dies down, this is the place to go.

This place is a true gem for any type of audio or vintage collector. They have everything! CDs, vinyl, video games, toys, electronics, books and so much more. I could spend days in here. Very surprised that when I searched CD stores on Yelp this place did not come up. It was recommended to me by another local music store in Nashville. I was able to find numerous hip-hop CDs that I needed for my collection all for barely a dollar each. When you walk in it almost feels like a Walmart or some kind of superstore. They have shopping carts, hand baskets and literally thousands of things to dig through. Can't wait to come back again.!

McKays is a great place if you're looking for used books, movies, games, toys, music, etc. There is such a wide array of things to shop for here that it can be a little overwhelming in a good way. If you've never been here before make sure you give yourself PLENTY of time to look around because it's huge. The prices are pretty steep, to be honest, on most items. (You can likely get what you're looking for cheaper on ThriftBooks in most cases.) Especially considering you can find some of these titles for just a few dollars more brand new at other retailers. You can also sell your used items to McKays for cash or store credit. If you choose store credit you'll more than likely get double the amount. It makes most sense to redeem it as store credit but it also kinda negates it because their prices are steep. All in all, a great place. Not necessarily the best deal but I know it's not the worst deal either.

WOW!! Whether you're a book lover, record lover, or a gamer you MUST make a stop at McKay's! My friends and I were absolutely blown away by the sheer size of this place, but that's not all that's amazing. The books and stacks are incredibly organized, and you will have no problem finding your favorite author or book series. The prices are incredible as well, we ended up with 20 books for less than $40! The selection is mind blowing. The store is also incredibly clean, including the bathrooms. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable as well. All in all I HIGHLY recommend a trip to McKay's. Pro tip: bring a sturdy reusable bag with you, you're going to find more books that you'll have to have then you think!!

I wish I knew how many hours I have spent here over the years, it's such a treasure. I love the concept of trading and usually sell items for store credit, particularly books and puzzles. I love the nostalgia of all the cds, vinyls, dvds, and other forms of media. I really appreciate their staff and the vibes are always on point, even when it's a busy packed house. One thing that can sometimes not make sense is overpriced board games, I get for hard to find items, but often popular board games are more expensive used here than brand new elsewhere.

You are about to experience the awe and mystery of, The Outer Limits! You've been seeking an experience. An adventure. Well, now you've found it. The Outer Limits is out there alright. But not so much for the hoard of Pokémon Trainers, who flock to this establishment to engage in the fantasy world of playing and trading. For them this is serious fun. For I, as an observer, it's a one of a kind experience to delve into the mysterious world, and minds, of my new friends. On my visit the store was packed to the Limits. From the Outer portion, to the inner sanctum. That's where games were afoot. The participants paid no attention to this pathogen who looked over shoulders in an attempt to make sense of what the eyes were taking in. Make sense? I couldn't. But it was fun watching the ones who knew what they were doing, enjoying themselves. Each digging into their prerequisite backpacks, ferreting through their game pieces in an attempt to gain advantage. At least that's what I think they were doing. I have no idea as to the process, or for that matter, the outcome. But what I do know, all were having a blast, albeit in a controlled intellectual way. I had a blast too. I admire this sect of game followers, these who dwell on the fringes. They're in their own world. One fraught with challenges of the game, as the real world meanders. In the game, they're in control. We on the outside looking in, can only watch in awe, and wonder. If it's collectable that you're interested in, it's here. Comics, cards, and weird doll things (you know what they are, me, I just shrug the shoulders). Enter the Outer Limits, where Reality ends and fantasy begins. Quick Tip: The card prices seem to be fair. But I have no perspective from which to judge. I being a sports card collector and not fantasy. I can only fantasize that one day I'll come across a rare Mickey Mantle for cheap. I wouldn't know a Pikachu Illustrator from a Alpha Black Lotus. Hmm...could those be the ones I used as drink coasters?

I returned to check it out. I love a good bookstore. I am known to spend at least a good hour leafing through books and looking at whatever merchandise it has. This store is a gem. As someone who likes stationery, gift ideas, and collectables, this store has everything. I have a natural inclination to head to the discount book section. You can find everything from fiction to cookbooks. I loved it. Not that I need any more notebooks or planners, but there are some nice ones here. I liked the hedgehog one with spiral binding. I nearly died happy in the Star Wars section. The number of Grogu items felt infinite. I ended up getting a set of Grogu measuring cups and spoons. I had never seen them before and they were lightweight to bring back home. I stood in front of the book holders section for the longest time. You can place these holders on a notebook or book to store your reading glasses, pens, cell phone, and more. They were practical and cool. There were gigantic Squishmallows towards the back of the store. It made me so happy seeing them. I had thought about driving back home with them in the backseat, but it would have been an extremely expensive road trip. I also wanted a pair of typewriter bookends. They looked classy and neat. They were so heavy, though. Instead, i have a photo to remind me of their coolness. I went to pay for my Grogu items at the counter. I had a nice man help me out. There was a problem, though. He couldn't find the barcodes for my measuring cups and spoons. They weren't on the packaging. He consulted with his colleague. Apparently, the tags with barcodes were inside the cups and spoons, within their plastic packaging. Okay, how ridiculous is that move? The man had to cut open both items in their packaging to get to the tags to scan them. Thankfully, these items were for me, so it didn't matter that they were out of their packaging. Perhaps it would matter for a diehard collector who wants items in pristine condition, or a germaphobe who neither wants this man's fingerprints on the merchandise, nor mine. Anyway, all was great once both barcode tags were scanned. I paid for my items with a credit card. All was great. This store has a program called Millionaire's Club. Since this was my first time ever seeing this store, I didn't opt into it. You can get discounts on your orders here. If you do shop here often, it's worth your while. It was great finding this bookstore and spending an hour looking at everything. I loved it. If I'm ever back in this area, I'd return and check out the other stores at Nashville West Shopping Center, too. (286)
