The selection of noodles is good (as it is with all Asian Grocers), but where this place really stands out is the sweets/snacks and the frozen dumplings. again, not a massive selection, but some of the highest quality goods I have purchased. Often a problem with 'getting adventurous' in an Asian Supermarket, you just never know if a product is going to deliver.....pretty packaging doesn't mean great food! But I have just got gold after gold at YES. It might be that I am just really lucky (insanely good looking people like myself often are), but I think it is more a case of the owners being very selective as to what they have in stock! The Gyouza are wicked by the way!

The range is vast and the quality is excellent. Staff are friendly and helpful, and there is a terrific selection of herbs and spices from India, Thailand, China, Korea and Japan as well as sauces, rices, teas, snacks, sweets, and more. I bought several items on this occaision, but hands down, the best buy of the day was the six-pack of pumpkin buns with red bean paste centers. Baked in the oven for 20 minutes and they were DELICIOUS. I'll be returning for those for sure! Overall, this is a great alternative to Woollies, particularly if you're looking for more variety in your herbs, spices, oils and sauces than what the big box store has. Prices are very reasonable, and the place is stocked to the brim with goods, is light, clean and well presented. You won't be disappointed.

I often ask myself: How does a shop that specialises in chilli/chile/chilli products survive in the…read moresuburbs of Adelaide? Well, it's simple. Awesome products, decent prices, and great service. I've been here a few times and every time I intend to pick up one chili sauce, but end up with a box or bag of hot and spicy goodness. The first thing that I love about this place is the floor to ceiling wall of hot sauces with names like "satan's rage", "ass reaper" and "brand new asshole". Chili fiend culture is hilarious, while also being quite exciting and sometimes scary (my mouth waters when I even look at a really really hot sauce). All of the hot sauces are rated out of 10 with most being in the 5-10 range, but something you'll notice is that there are 11/10 sauces, 100/10 and I think 1000/10. What!?! Who the hell buys these insane sauces? Satan himself, for something to wash his face with?!? Even a 10/10 will blow my head off and I love chili. The owner Joel (who could easily be a character in a Coen Brothers movie) explains that these sauces are for huge batches of "chilli" I guess he means con-carne or something. I swear, Joel must be the biggest chili fiend, because none of it seems to faze him and he seems like he would eat a few scorpion chilli's on his cheerio's in the morning. Chile Mojo also sell chili merch, chili plants, fertiliser and seeds; Mexican ingredients for your next taco night; American soft drinks and more. Check them out or even order online. Just be careful what you buy, and ask Joel for his recommendation. He might even test your chili tolerance to see what you can handle. Also, get his buffalo wing recipe and Frank's sauce. You will not be disappointed... unless you don't like chili, in which case you should start on a 3/10 sauce and work up your tolerance, you wuss! Haha.

They eat a super hot bum burning chilli sauce on everything, sweat it out and skull a glass of milk afterwards. No sir, not for me. However, I do love chilli. I love enough chilli to still enjoy flavour. My partner is a chilli fiend and demands access to a good selection of sauces at home. I also am going through a buffalo wings stage; This brings me to Chile Mojo. Chilli fiends are like a moth to a flame for this store. It is truly amazing. I have never seen such an awesome selection of sauces, spices, jams, salsas, chilli merch, etc, etc.. The best part about this store is the amazing storeowner. He is so passionate about his store and spreading the chilli love. Last time I went into this store I was looking for a authentic buffalo wing chilli sauce. I got into an in-depth conversation with the storeowner about the best sauce to choose and how to cook the best wings. Then he said, "in fact, I have an amazing authentic southern buffalo wing recipe I can share with you". What? Giving your recipe secrets away? No, he doesn't mind. He just loves his customers that much! He pointed me to Franks Hot Sauce, printed out the recipe and told me to enjoy. And boy did I ever! This buffalo wings recipe kicks butt! This store is such a gem, and I love to support stores like this that care so much about what they are sharing with the community. So next time you are thinking about buying anything to do with chilli, Mexican or spices; skip to supermarket and go to Chile Mojo!

They have the ability to cure some ailments, act as a beauty tool and most importantly arouse the flavour and taste in a beautifully prepared Indian cuisine. When friends come to me for Indian recipes ( I should charge them by the hour!), I always send them to the Spice Centre to top up their spice racks or sample a new recipe. Like the orange lentils which lends a creamy texture to your dhal dish, or the green lentils which offers an healthy alternative to other carbs infused dhal. From fennel, fenugreek, cardamom, cumin to the expensive saffron, they carry a wide variety of spices fit for a Maharajah's (King) kitchen. You'll find plenty of meat curry powder packets here. My favourite Baba's is widely stocked here and is one of the finest curry powders ever. From meat, seafood and kurma curry powder, there is something for everyone. No Indian dish is good without curry leaves, and I'm happy to report that a huge bunch of curry leaves is available for purchase at a mere $1. Indian savouries, sweets and desserts are also sold here, so it might be worth checking them out for a different menu variety. Bollywood fans will appreciate the huge volume of DVD's here, showcassing some of Bollywood's finest stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol et al. When I want some Bhangra fever, I head out here and rent a couple to amuse me during the weekend. For those who like natural products, try the henna as an alternative to your normal boxed hair dye or a bottle of coconut oil for thick, soft and bouncy hair. The owner is friendly and is absolutely helpful in recommending some of the best spices to go with your curries. Drop in and say namaste!

Thankfully, Indian Plaza now allows us to get all of our authentic spices and ingredients from a nearby place. As it's located right next door to 24fit, I'll usually visit the shop after I've had a workout at the gym. The smell of the spices as you walk through the door is enough to knock your socks off! I love coming in to browse the various kinds of spices, rice, curry mixes and snacks. If I feel like I've deserved it, I'll even pick up a couple of bags of savoury Indian snacks - they are simply awesome, and probably much healthier than potato chips (another vice of mine). In addition to food, the shop also stocks a lot of Indian cosmetics and remedies, such as oils, soaps, fragrances, and hair dyes. Products such as pure coconut oil provide great natural remedies for those with particularly thick, damaged or difficult hair - and you won't have to worry about putting any unnecessary chemcials on your head.

It seems like every few months more and more of these stores are popping up in new locations (albeit sometimes in very close proximity) - and I'm glad to see that business is thriving. What can be said about K-Food? They have everything you'd expect from a 24 hour convenience store, namely plenty of junk food, sodas, cigarettes, and personal necessities like pain-killers - a lot of things you shouldn't be having late at night! But the fact that they're there saves you from waiting until morning to get your late night fix, and that's a reality I'm pretty happy with. The thing I like particularly about this location is that the staff is always good to talk to - especially when the streets quiet down and the majority of the weekend warriors have called it a night. Not too long ago I came into K-Food late one night after playing a gig, and the store clerk and I spoke for almost 30 minutes about the Misfits and the evolution of punk music, as well as exchanging our band contacts. I've also had great conversations with a lot of the other store clerks here too, and it seems like the personnel at this shop is all-round good people. It's tough working the graveyard shift, especially with all the drunken hooligans making things even more difficult. So if you're feeling nice, go in and have a chat and make they're night a little more entertaining!
