In January of 2025, I decided to start my medical gender transition. I asked for a referral and got on hormone replacement therapy. 3 months later, Intermountain health dropped all gender affirming care for everyone, including referrals to other clinics who do it. with no warning, I got a letter in the mail. they have handled everything my family needed very poorly, including diagnosing too quickly, and refusing to assist in multiple ways that I have not mentioned. I will never be going to another clinic, ER, or hospital associated with Intermountain health again.

My father went to this doctor with difficulty swallowing and rapid weight loss and he had labs performed with results showing anemia that indicated possible cancer. However, Dr. Redal would not return his phone calls and ignored his letters and refused his repeated requests to authorize diagnostic tests, dismissing my father's concern as an overreaction. In the 3-week delay Dr. Redal caused, my father's condition worsened significantly, and as we feared, he was diagnosed with cancer. He passed away 6 months later. We filed a complaint with the State medical board, and while no violation was found, he could have made the crucial difference for my dad by simply authorizing an endoscopy immediately.

When NWFM moved from Arvada to Superior, we weighed the extra distance against the likelihood that any other practice would be as good, and opted to make the drive. Coal Creek Family Medicine exemplifies what is broken in modern medicine, based on my experience…read more While I would rate the clinical staff as slightly below average (approximately 3/10--many appear burned out and insufficiently trained), the administrative side of the practice is profoundly incompetent, unresponsive, and unprofessional (0/10). Even the most basic visits--such as routine annual wellness/annual physical exams--are repeatedly billed incorrectly, with improper codes submitted to insurance. This has happened to me two years in a row. Each time, the result has been hundreds of dollars out of pocket and significant time wasted correcting errors that should never have occurred. I raised these issues multiple times directly with my physician and with Audrey, the practice manager. There has been zero response and no attempt to resolve the problem. If this is how the practice handles routine preventive care, I cannot imagine how poorly it would perform if a patient were genuinely ill or required ongoing medical attention. Frankly, socialized medicine in a third world country would be preferable to the dysfunction I've experienced here. I do not recommend Coal Creek Family Medicine.

Unfortunately, since Dr. Hill took over and many of the longtime doctors left, the quality of care has noticeably declined. My experiences with the staff and providers have often felt dismissive and uncaring. Rather than feeling listened to and supported, I have frequently felt brushed off and judged. At times, I have overheard conversations and witnessed interactions that made me uncomfortable and gave me the impression that patients' personal situations were being discussed in an unprofessional manner. I have also been frustrated by unexpected charges and bills that were not clearly explained beforehand. Better communication regarding costs and billing would go a long way toward building trust with patients. I have been dealing with an ongoing health issue that has caused significant anxiety, and when I sought help, Dr. Hill made me feel as though I was wrong for coming in and expressing my concerns. Instead of feeling supported, I left feeling discouraged and unheard. What was once a welcoming and compassionate practice no longer feels that way. Patients deserve to feel heard, respected, and cared for, especially when dealing with ongoing health concerns.
