A family member needed to go into assisted living senior care and we assumed the Long-Term Care Insurance she paid into would cover the cost. In order for the insurance to pay, certain criteria had to be met concerning the level of assistance needed. She met the criteria in our family's mind, because she needed help and could not live alone. As we found out, insurance companies are not very willing to pay out. Navigating the insurance benefit approval process is difficult, so we hired the Family Solutions for Care organization to help. Claims were submitted for benefit approval, but the insurance company denied payment. Additional documentation from doctors and the living facility were also submitted. This went on for about eight months. Family Solutions for Care were persistent, and finally received the benefit approval. The benefit payment included a check for past expenditures, and approval for ongoing charges. The price we paid Family Solutions for Care per year, was roughly equal to just one month of the yearly benefit we received; so, it is definitely worth it. Going forward, Family Solutions for Care continues the service by submitting facility charges to the insurance company and processing the benefits with direct deposit. They take care of everything and provide monthly updates. Family Solutions for Care provides an excellent service and is a great return on your money. I highly recommend them. read more

I needed help in dealing with a long term care insurance company that refused to pay for my mother's Alzheimer's condition. She had paid for this policy for over 40 years and the insurance company was looking for any excuse to not pay. Family Solutions For Care Agent, Oliva Duncan was an absolute blessing to have on our side. She took over and was successful in getting full care for my mother. This was not an easy task and it did take at least 8 to 9 months of phone calls and letters by Oliva to get the covered care that my mother paid for. AVOID AT ALL COSTS: This company exploits the elderly and their families at their most vulnerable. Writing on behalf of my wife and her sister, I can say that FSC talked a great talk, collected $5,700 of our family savings, and did nothing. When we questioned them, they were extremely unprofessional, hostile and rude. Our FSC claims specialist even admitted to my wife and sister that their mother simply wasn't eligible for her long-term health benefits because her condition had improved and there was little else to do. We requested a refund but didn't get one. We have consulted several long term health specialists who confirmed that my mother-in-law was not eligible for benefits and FSC should not have said otherwise. They took our money under false pretenses, did nothing, and then lied about it. They said they contacted caregivers, but our caregivers confirmed they had never heard from them. FSC charged us extra money, because ours was a "difficult case." They said we had mishandled our appeals and they would fix the problem with a new approach. Then, the one thing they did submit to our insurance duplicated our prior actions. Our insurance company said what they submitted was useless. This has been confirmed by outside sources, including other industry professionals. We reported them to the Missouri Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau. Please do so if you had the same experience! Furthermore, beware of the FSC contract: It's one-sided in their favor, requires a social security number and makes FSC the default mailing address. We deeply regret this costly and unnecessary expense. read more
