Valuable to me in a practitioner are qualities of patience, thoroughness, humility, and collaboration. In my experience visiting St. Francis Health Center, and specifically with my nurse practitioner, Abby Rodriguez, I have felt entirely seen and cared for. The establishment is explicitly feminist and highly regards the voices and opinions of patients, materials in the lobby emphasize the power of women to make their own health choices and it is clear that the St. Francis Health Center exists to support women to do just that. In my checkups with Abby, I never felt like she lacked for time. Abby asked lots of questions pertaining to my physical, mental, and emotional health, in addition to performing a routine physical and ordering blood work. Based on my answers and the results of my blood work, Abby has been able to recommend a range of non-invasive options to support my particular health needs including vitamins, herbs, and supplements, and personally recommending mental health professionals, acupuncturists, various types of alternative and energy therapists. For example, Abby was able to recommend a pre- and post-surgery protocol of vitamins/supplements that accelerated my healing in incredible ways, much to my surgeon's dismay. Throughout my time seeing Abby, I have felt that we were exploring questions and answers together - without the undue pretension of an MD who makes an act of knowing more than they do and discards the infinite potential offered by Eastern/"Alternative" Medicine. I appreciate Abby for embracing and supporting my health interests and helping me to expand my own knowledge and understanding with the deep kindness and compassion you'd want in a personal relationship with someone caring for your whole self. I recommend her and this clinic to anyone.

My daughter has endometriosis is just turning 18 and Dr. Vigil has been patient with her explain why she was doing the treatment course. When my daughter was still having break through bleeding and cramps we stop by her office and told the front office girl who immediately talked to the doctor and took her right back. The girl in the front office has bent over backwards to be helpful. I would recommend her to any young girl that has problems that they need to use an OB/GYN she takes her time to find out what is wrong and patiently explains to the how to go about fixing it. We love her and recommend her.

BOTH times I saw her, she barely spent ten minutes in the room with me, gave me a very cursory exam and prescribed me antibiotics "just in case" before she even knew what exactly she was treating. On my second visit to her she gave me antibiotics that only made my symptoms worse - I had to find another gyno to actually treat me because I vowed never to go back to her again. I still got charged nearly $300 and when I called to see if I could appeal or make a payment plan, Dr. Vigil herself spoke to me in an extremely catty and condescending manner before hanging up on me. In conclusion, seek help elsewhere. This woman barely spends any time with her patients before overprescribing them antibiotics and charging them hundreds of dollars for it. And she doesn't take kindly to being questioned.

Do not trust them! From the ultrasound to the diagnosis from the diabetic doctors. I had the worst…read moreexperience and hardest pregnancy for no reason. I had to fight every step of my pregnancy and advocate for myself and my unborn baby. I passed my one-hour glucose test however I was told I was diabetic based on a test that can not be used to diagnose anything but be used as a tool to help aid with diabetes. I was given numbers they wanted fastings under and when I met these numbers with dieting the numbers were changed and now lower than I originally was given. I had to take on a strict diet during this pregnancy because of this false diagnosis. The diabetic Dr no longer wanted to see me because I questioned her and refused to take a drug my body did not need. I was threatened if I didn't take the insulin they would deliver my baby early and have her in the NICU. I was also told if I didn't take this medicine I would be giving my baby diabetes. I was told my baby was too big in the 99th percentile and she would need to be delivered early. I was told her kidneys had way more fluid in them than they had. I became a diabetes expert and how to diagnose, what the current numbers should be. I did extensive research to learn as much as I could because I knew something wasn't right and was fishy with this office. I researched the side effects of the insulin they were trying to force down my throat it had side effects that could have killed me due to health conditions I have with vitamin deficiency. I finally had enough and went for a second opinion only to find out that everything that I felt and researched was correct I was never diabetic, you can NOT diagnose off A1C. I was told I was correct for sticking to my guns and not letting them bully me into taking medication that was not needed. My baby isn't as big as the kept says she is only in the 80th percentile she is a normal size given her dad and his family's height. Her kidneys do have fluid but nothing of concern and not as much as they were telling me. They could have killed me and my unborn child if I had shut up and listened to them. These are dangerous people looking for medication money kickbacks. DO NOT TRUST THEM! Go for a second opinion if something doesn't feel right question it, stand up for yourself don't let them try to bully you.

My husband and I had an absolutely horrible experience with Dr. Michael Ruma at Perinatal…read moreAssociates in Santa Fe. We went in for an ultrasound when I was 36 weeks pregnant. The ultrasound was supposed to be a longer, more comprehensive ultrasound to check on baby's heart. Instead, the entire scan, performed by a very young tech, took 15 minutes. Afterwards, Dr. Ruma waltzed into the room, spent about 5 minutes looking at the images and then told us, quite confidently, that our baby had an abnormal heart. He said most likely Ebstein's Anomaly or Transposition of the Great Vessels. Both require multiple surgeries and are rare. In fact, he told us Ebstein's only occurs in 1/20,000 births. When asked if he had diagnosed it before he said "no" but he was confident he was right in that our baby had a serious heart defect. He did not reference any imaging to back this up. He told us to go to see Dr. Patel, a Pediatric Cardiologist, in Albuquerque. My husband and I left in total shock. I was sick to my stomach for days and neither of us could sleep. A few days later we got a 1 hour long cardio echogram and met Dr. Patel. We were told baby's heart is NORMAL. Nothing wrong. Dr. Ruma is an irresponsible and arrogant doctor. His ridiculous diagnosis was not even remotely accurate and he gave it without having clear images and without the knowledge required to give such a serious diagnosis. I would never see him again under ANY circumstances and want to warn other women that this man is dangerous and grossly unprofessional.
