I was new to Orthobionomy when I met Leopi through another practitioner I work with. The work we have done together for a year and a half now has been remarkable. I initially found her through my midwife- I had asked her what the best way to manage pain in birth was, and she said to start with good alignment, and she gave me Leopi's number. I had quite a few sessions over the course of my pregnancy. It was easily one of the most valuable things I did to support myself during that time. Her techniques were so transformative, and through such gentle touch. She has an amazing power to calm you down no matter how frazzled you are upon arrival. When I first tried Orthobionomy I had had no idea what to expect. The best way I can describe it is; beneath the surface touch (bones, connective tissue, muscle) with exquisite energy attunement (like Craniosacral). My experience with Leopi's skills is that they support both relaxing and receiving along with coming more "online" and awake to my body. Before we got married my wife and I both knew we wanted to have kids. We would talk about it now and then, gradually forming an idea of what we thought it would be like, excitedly imaging different aspects that could be. But when she mentioned she was thinking about home birth I worried. It sounded dangerous, even crazy. My wife was in her second year of medical school when she got pregnant. By then I'd read "Birth Matters" by Ina May Gaskin (didn't relate to all of the stories but did agree with Gaskins eye-opening critique of hospital birth in the US). I've gotten two massages from Leopi, and wow, what an incredible experience! I was 6 months pregnant at the first, and 8 months pregnant at the second massage, and felt physically and emotionally relaxed and happy after both. Leopi created the environment I needed to totally relax, with tons of cushy pillows, soothing sounds, sunlight and fresh air, and the most validating and comforting massage I've ever gotten! This review is long overdue. Leopi is just what every pregnant mama and expecting papa need. She's the hands on professional midwife you need mixed with the sensitivity, love, and compassion that all pregnant women deserve! My partner and I had Kaiser. We did labs and prenatal visits with the midwives there while also seeing Leopi. Let me tell you, there's such a BIG difference between the care of hospitals vs Leopi. While it was easy to get blood work done at kaiser, my visits with the midwife were literally 10 maybe 15 minutes long. They talked about important physiological stuff but they were nothing like the visits with Leopi. Her care is felt throughout the soul. Each visit I had epiphanies and experienced a new layer of pregnancy that I hadn't yet before. She facilitated conversation that allowed for more closeness between my partner and I. She held a sacred space where I felt comfortable to cry, express frustration, and be genuinely myself. My partner said he is so glad we went with Leopi because of how she acknowledged him becoming a papa and his new role! Kaiser briefly touched on it perhaps in a class, but he was very involved and a part of everything when it came to Leopi. She's just amazing. I am so glad I went in for orthobionomy when my pregnancy started getting uncomfortable! I had never heard of orthobionomy but the reviews and comments on Yelp encouraged me to give it a try. I have had lots of body work pre-pregnancy such as reiki, massage, acupuncture, acupressure etc but orthobionomy is unique and so effective! From the first visit Leopi was supportive, inviting and encouraging. I was able to relax completely on the table and go in to a beautiful healing space in my body that felt so good! Since then I have had several treatments because it worked! I couldn't believe that the symptoms kept going away after treatment! Sciatica pain, wrist pain, back and shoulder pain- all of it was alleviated after session and the relief continued! Through sessions my body learns what it feels like to rest and let go of tension and I'm able to enter that space quicker and quicker with each subsequent session. Leopi is amazing! I can tell you I was skeptical and a little confused as to what orthobiotomy was prior to giving it a try. It's much different than a massage but better in my opinion. It's far more healing actually. The practice entails using light stretching and gently holding your body in certain ways to let it release tension on its own. Stress happens in life and obviously we have trouble releasing it. This is a natural and effective way to help yourself feel better and relieve far more stress than a massage. I've had the pleasure of experiencing Leopi's skills both as a midwife and as an ortho-bionomy practitioner, and she's outstanding at both. As a midwife and a bodyworker, she is simply lovely to be around. She's strong, sweet, caring, knowledgable and her skills are beyond description. And I'd like to say, after reading what I just typed, that this shouldn't be discounted as hyperbole. I'm being honest and forthright. As a midwife, she was recommended by several people my wife and I knew. We scheduled a meeting to see if she'd be a good fit, and within the first 10 or 20 minutes of that first meeting both my wife and I knew we'd found the right person. From those first moments, through the birth of our sweet little boy, and continuing with postpartum care, she was professional, comforting, and an altogether positive presence. In all honesty, I can't really imagine going through such and experience with anyone else. As an ortho-bionomy practitioner, she was the first bodyworker to relieve my post-injury back pain. Prior to her treatment I had felt debilitated for several years. I tried massage, acupuncture and chiropractic, with very little improvement. As a gardener and all around active person, dealing with such pain for so long was a huge stressor, both physically and mentally. Leopi's talent as an ortho-bionomist effectively allowed my body to release and move beyond that pain. And for the past two years I've been receiving ortho from her once a month. Leopi is wonderful. I found out about her from two different sources and I'm very glad I stumbled upon her. One source was a male and the other very knowledgable about the body. I had lower back and SI pain for over 2 years after I gave birth to my first child. Then when I was pregnant and delivered my second child, my back pain continued. I went to several physical therapists and chiropractors for all those years, but never felt better. I finally gave Leopi and orthobionomy a try and I'm so glad I did. Leopi said she thought I would feel a lot better after three visits. After many years of being in pain I didn't think that could happen. But my back pain did greatly improve from Leopi's work in just three visits. Orthobionomy is very hands on and gentle. Leopi is warm, a great listener, and caring. She truly wants to help you heal and is very honest. She truly tries to heal you as quickly and efficiently as possible and didn't ask me to come back for unnecessary treatment. Leopi is amazing in ortho-bionomy. I did not know what this is first, and it felt like magic. By gently moving my legs and hands and applying massage-like pressure, she was able to release tension from my lower back, hips and shoulders. Leopi is a highly-experienced and gifted midwife and body-worker! We have two children. The first child was born in 2004 in the hospital and although my son was born healthy, the experience of birthing in the hospital left me feeling disempowered. When we became pregnant with our second in 2008, I knew I wanted a home birth. We interviewed many midwives and when we met Leopi we knew instantly she was it! My lower back and leg pain has been reduced dramatically since I met with Leopi. I have tried doctors and chiropractic care - which are all beneficial, but this treatment made the most notable difference for me. She has very careful and strong healing hands. Even before we got pregnant we knew we wanted to have a home birth. The only problem was, finding a great midwife. It took us a while to actually find one that we felt comfortable with. I looked at so many midwives websites and did not feel the connection with their "values" and services. I wanted someone who would include my partner in the process and the other midwives talked about "woman empowerment" and all that modern talk about doing it yourself. After meeting Leopi we decided she was the one, she's so warm, friendly, knowledgeable and has tons of years of experience. This is such a long overdue review. There are really no words to express how amazing, knowledgeable, graceful, talented, creative, attentive and empowering Leopi is (I could go on and on). Leopi helped me heal from a previous traumatic birth experience that resulted in an unnecessary c-section (see my review of Sage Femme for more info on that). I decided I would happily pay whatever it was worth to have someone I could completely trust to not send me to the hospital unless it was absolutely necessary as well as someone that could competently guide me through a VBAC home birth. Choosing Leopi was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I'll never forget what she said after the successful and beautiful birth of my daughter at home.. she said, "you have new cellular memory"... and she was right. She has been more than I ever hoped for and I truly wish every woman/family can experience the kind of love, kindness, knowledge and humor Leopi brings to every meeting (she is hilarious). Leopi and Ellen Levitt are such a great pair. When they had to maneuver my daughter's arm so that her head would come out first, my husband said it was like a walk in a park to them because they handled it with such ease and grace. Not only are they knowledgeable and experienced midwives, they have lovely personalities. One of my cherished memories is chatting with them for hours as the sun came up after my daughter was born. The Ortho Bionomy sessions are very powerful and effective. If I still lived in the bay, i would be seeing her as often as possible. There is such fear around VBAC home births (well, VBACs in general), but I personally felt safer with Leopi and Ellen than I ever would have at a hospital because I would have most likely ended up with a repeat c-section if I had been at a hospital, but instead I got to stay in the comfort of my own home and lay with my baby and talk into the morning with my midwives...which is in stark contrast to the experience I had at the hospital (nurses/strangers coming in every hour to check on me/baby throughout the night). Having a peaceful environment after the birth of my daughter was such a welcomed change. I'm so grateful to Leopi and Ellen for helping me have one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. read more

Leopi is amazing... choosing a midwife is obviously a very personal thing. Several people recommended Leopi to us as a midwife. We chose her because of a clear connection to her as a person, and because my wife saw in Leopi a person capable of guiding her through this initiation in woman-hood. Our birth started started strong and fast... You cannot describe the intensity of a birthing to someone who has not been there, and when Leopi arrived it was obvious just how many of these she had attended. There was an air of calm serious presence to Leopi that held the room. She was incredible throughout, and showed her gifts in full when our baby girl got stuck with an umbilical cord wrapped around her head and neck. Leopi never flinched, our daughter is a happy healthy little girl, and what was life and death for an infinite moment became life. Leopi's support after the birth was just as incredible, both for my wife and my daughter (and me). She has a whole tool kit of physical and emotional support that she opened without hesitation to our family. I cannot recommend Leopi strongly enough... she has been a midwife for our family in every meaning of the word. read more

I highly recommend Leopi. She is an extremely gifted & very knowledgable Midwife and a special healing bodyworker. From my experience of her ortho bionomy work, as well as receiving information from her around my pregnancy, she has a unique ability to deeply in tune herself with her clients bodies and what they need (ive also sent a friend to her and know several others who have used her for ortho bionomy as well as midwife services). She has always shown a sensitivity to my needs and has gone out of her way to be both helpful and supportive. And If you find that your body has energy in it - muscle and tissues and more - that feels "stuck" or painful, her work can release that in ways that other bodywork may not be able to. One time I went to see her for ortho bionomy, in the most gentle way possible, she was able to release a slight uncomfortability I have had in my hip for 4 years. another time after tripping and breaking my fall with my arms her bodywork, as well as advice reduced the pain in my chest and back by 70% and probably saved me 100's of dollars. Again, I highly recommend her and suggest having a session of ortho bionomy and using her other services. read more

I picked Leopi for my second pregnancy after feeling underserved in my first. I interviewed over 10 midwives and found Leopi to be extremely experienced and approachable. She was very focused on helping me have a different birth experience than my first; in giving me an experience which felt more managed more supported. I am grateful to say that she totally delivered. During her prenatal visits we focused on discussing how to make this birth different. She brought much wisdom and confidence to the process leading up to the birth. When the big day came she showed up as soon as we needed her and provided expert guidance through the birth. She brought reverence, joy and professionalism to the entire experience. But Leopi is so much more than a midwife. Her extensive knowledge of herbal remedies, homeopathy and orthobionomy made it so that I had one person who deeply understood my pregnancy who could also bring expertise in multiple modalities to assist when I needed more than basic check-ups. I was confident that all of her work was integrated and holistically supporting my pregnancy. This pregnancy I developed severe daily hip pain. Nothing really helped the pain. After trying a few different treatments, Leopi performed an orthobionomy session on my body and the pain disappeared. The orthobionomy sessions also helped me quickly recover from the postpartum aches and pains, something I wish I had had for my first birth. I would recommend Leopi to anyone seeking a wise, confident skilled midwife who will tend to your family, soul, mind and body. She is amazing. read more
