On August 11th, a classmate of my younger son invited him to play at the YMCA. So, despite heavy rain, we went to this YMCA. However, when we tried to swipe my membership card for entry, we were informed that my card had expired last month and were asked to leave and reapply for membership. Seeing my child's disappointed expression, I asked the staff if it's possible to renew the membership now since it's set up for automatic deductions. They could deduct the payment now. The staff coldly replied: "No!" They demanded that we go home and reapply by filling out forms. I attempted to negotiate, saying: "We came a long way in the rain, can I fill the form now and could you please update my membership card now?" The response remained indifferent: "No! You must fill out a new application. It's our policy.." Can I read your policy? I asked. No! I don't have it...... I asked, "Could you please have your manager check if it's possible to update it now?" The reply was, "I am the manager," and proudly showed me his name tag: Max! I'm not sure if this is the YMCA's policy or discrimination against me as an Asian? Membership expiration wasn't communicated, and the renewal process is so troublesome! Being treated this way as a YMCA member, humiliated in front of my child, has left me heartbroken!

I've never been to a Crunch, and was surprised by the equipment / facility. For the cost they had everything some of the expensive gyms have, and a dope atmosphere. Because of this experience I might consider doubling down on my current membership, and adding Crunch for when I'm in the North Metro MN area, or Fargo again since it's more than an affordable option.
