The temperature is WAY too hot, half of the class was unable to practice half way through due to the heat. The heat actually felt dangerous and I left early. The early am class is great, not as hot. The other class set in the afternoon did not guide you through a practice that is purposeful and mindful but more of a workout. Poses felt rushed and demanded. One quote from the instructor was to "not half-ass" a yoga pose. Most of the music is set to rap, which is odd. Maybe this is the intent of the studio?!

The level of instruction is very good, and the level of competition from the other students matches this very well. I rolled with numerous students and none of them was anything other than respectful and courteous. They have nothing to prove here, and their confidence shows. George and Sarah emphasize drilling with a couple of days per week devoted to rolling. The classes include both women and men, but Sarah seemed to spend more time rolling with the women. This seems to me to work well if you are a woman who will roll with anyone or someone who wants to roll with women only. There is also Thai boxing taught here as a curriculum which looks very good also, but I didn't take any of those classes. If you are looking to roll BJJ in Fargo, look no further than Fargo Brazilian Jiu Jitsu!

On August 11th, a classmate of my younger son invited him to play at the YMCA. So, despite heavy rain, we went to this YMCA. However, when we tried to swipe my membership card for entry, we were informed that my card had expired last month and were asked to leave and reapply for membership. Seeing my child's disappointed expression, I asked the staff if it's possible to renew the membership now since it's set up for automatic deductions. They could deduct the payment now. The staff coldly replied: "No!" They demanded that we go home and reapply by filling out forms. I attempted to negotiate, saying: "We came a long way in the rain, can I fill the form now and could you please update my membership card now?" The response remained indifferent: "No! You must fill out a new application. It's our policy.." Can I read your policy? I asked. No! I don't have it...... I asked, "Could you please have your manager check if it's possible to update it now?" The reply was, "I am the manager," and proudly showed me his name tag: Max! I'm not sure if this is the YMCA's policy or discrimination against me as an Asian? Membership expiration wasn't communicated, and the renewal process is so troublesome! Being treated this way as a YMCA member, humiliated in front of my child, has left me heartbroken!
