I'm a sucker for new restaurants or any establishment that I haven't tried so when a former…read morecolleague of mine decided to rendezvous in Eastwood, I asked her if she was OK with trying out The Wicked Waffle. She consented, and so off we went. The first thing that I have to comment about is that it was so ironic... but the restaurant told us that they were out of waffles for the day. To be honest, that's a deal-breaker for me when it comes to restaurants -- them being out of stock of ANYTHING, but I was in a good mood so I let it slide. After all, that's life. Crap happens. It was dinner time anyway so I decided to go for the SPAM Filipino favorite meal; which features two slices of pan-seared SPAM, two farm-fresh eggs (any style), and unlimited garlic rice. Needless to say, I was very full. It's comfort food at its finest and at its cheapest so how could I complain? Of course, the ambiance isn't entirely luxe, but what do you expect for these prices? This is a good place to go to if you're on the search for a quick bite that won't break the bank and that will leave you 100 percent satisfied. I look forward to trying out the waffles next time around. Lastly, their iced tea is pretty good too.

They have tht too. Arroz Caldo? Got you covered. Eggs? Pasta? Protein? Check, check and double check. (Ever wanted steak at 7am? How about a porkchop?) Pancakes and waffles? That's why they're called Wicked Waffles, after all. It's clear where they get their name once you see their menu. Apart from your classic stack of pancakes/waffles with butter and syrup, they also have these indulgently good "I shouldn't be having these for breakfast" waffle sundaes. Exactly what it sounds like: ice cream, toppings, sauce and (obviously) waffles. And not just any waffles. Matcha waffles. Red Velvet waffles. Chocolate waffles. Now this. THIS is what you call an indulgent breakfast. But to be honest, that wasn't what drew me. What did was the great value that was their Breakfast of Champions. Waffle, bacon, scrambled eggs and their exceptionally good home fries. Either that or their Wicked Pancake Sandwich. Ugh. Just writing about it is making me want those home fries.

I love that they are able to make this breakfast classic a handy snack that you could eat at just about any time of the day. The waffles are cooked on the spot when you order so it takes about 3 to 5 minutes to prepare each one. Worth the wait to get a warm waffle with crisp side which is generously filled with your choice of sweet or savory flavors. You can get plain ones that are good like hazel nut or strawberry. I personally like their cream cheese line - get either the strawberry cream cheese or the blueberry cream cheese. If you want something that tastes like an American classic, try the Peanut Butter and Strawberry. I love how the chunky unsweetened strawberry goes really well with their jam which has real strawberry bits. It's no wonder the brand is growing exponentially in Manila. I've seen franchise branches in just about every mall I've been to - from SM to Makati Square. Since I often stop to grab a bite there, I could honesty tell you that they have very good quality control. All their branches produce the same quality of waffles with identical flavors, no matter where you get it from.

I usually stick with their signature chocolate waffle, but sometimes I try to be more adventurous and get their blueberry cheesecake or some other weird flavor, and somehow I always end up liking what I order, even if it sounds bizarre.

The innovative stall of Bad Bird sticked to the modernity of the look and upscale food options. I go for the plate of corn and coleslaw for P390 and with an additional sweet potato waffles for P95. The umami goodness justified the steep price points. The chicken is seasoned thoroughly and the skin is immensly crispy. You can choose any spice level from safe, spicy, and chemical. I take calculated risks and the safe level is enough for me. As a devotee of anything fried chicken, Bad Bird lives up to the hype. Whether you are here for lunch in between work or for a dinner over drinks, each plate serves it purpose for being a flavourful meal. Bad Bird opened a branch in SM Megamall fashion hall with upcoming stalls in Serendra in BGC, UP Town Center, and Robinson's Ermita. There's umami in almost every city in Manila

It turns out this place has merits and you can do a lot with Belgian Waffles. Mixing it with different fillings like chocolate, peanut butter and fruits make it interesting and even more tasty. My favorite would be the ham and cream cheese, but the peanut butter waffle was yummy too. Don't expect to be full after eating one waffle sandwich. The waffle itself is quite thin and a little too sloppy to hold without the wrapper. Well, the size is just enough for the price, I guess. I also realized, after eating several waffle sandwiches in one sitting (I shared it with my baby bro), that the simpler varieties (with only one filling) taste better than the waffles with two or more fillings. Probably because the waffles get softer the more you fill it. That only means that they're generous with the fillings. Nevertheless, I'm glad I gave this new place a try. Yay for another cheap thrill!

If you have Php 50 to shell out, it's enough to get a taste of their yummy belgian waffles. They have different varieties of flavors to choose from but my favorite is the Maple Syrup & French Butter. It reminds me of eating pancakes in the morning for breakfast. Their belgian waffles are best paired with coffee, which they also have as well. Just a little tip, to have that perfect soft and crunchy texture from your waffle, be sure to eat it as soon as you get it.
