Just a teeny bit shy of the 5' mark, finding jeans is always a huge pain in the butt - but finding shoes and boots in my size is the bane of my existence. For the last several years, I have been on the hunt for a pair of knee high boots that come in my midget foot size (5-5.5, or a kid's 3-4) and actually come up to my knee, not four inches or more past. You see, the world wasn't made for us vertically challenged folk. When I have managed to find my small size in a boot, they have come way past my knee and I look like a little kid playing dress-up, or worse yet - like puss-in-boots, and I am about to go fence some scoundrel. Apparently small-footed individuals are also of Amazonian height. Lo and behold, Steve Madden. I saw a pair of shoes on their website, and called the store to see if they had them in my size in stock. As luck would have it, there was one lone pair, and it was soon to be mine. The man on the phone, Matt, was super nice and pleasant, and answered all of my questions, and was able to hold them for me until I could come to the store later that night. I dragged my friend out in the rain (I'm a girl, I need the friend fashion approval and the boy was all, um please take your friend because, yeah, I'm a boy, they're boots, I'm sure they're nice, yada yada yada). Matt was super nice and super friendly in person as was the other guy working there that night (Rohan). They brought out my boots and they were FABULOUS. They are delicious and beautiful and all mine - and the first knee-high boots I have ever worn/owned in my life. When you'e used to buying kid shoes that hit mid-calf, this is a great achievement and a boot victory. Sadly, they are for X-mas and since I was helping Santa play elf this year I will just have to wait - but it's worth it. They offered advice on how to care for it and all that good stuff, and the store was matching the web sale (20-25% off) which was just an added bonus. Since my friend was drooling over another pair of boots, I get her a pair as well that she loves - but she too will have to wait until Old King Cole comes on down that chimney. A+ for customer service on the phone and in store, and A+ for making good quality boots that are spunky and fun, and come in sizes to fit all needs.

However, I am not a fan of the New Balance store in the shadow…read moreof Smith Haven Mall.      When I visited my Dad on Long Island, I was going to leave with a new pair of New Balance.  The perfect pair was nonexistent at Kohl's (out of stock issue) and Dick's Sporting Goods. So, we decided to check out the New Balance store in the Smith Haven Mall shadow at the corner of Route 347 and Alexander Drive.    When it came to New Balance there seemed to be a non balance of price categories. In my opinion, all of their sneakers were expensive and overpriced. The only employee in this relatively small store, said that they sell better sneakers than the model that I had photographed in Kohl's. That is not true because the pairs I have brought from retail chains such as Kohl's have bestowed me with long-time use and compliments. Generally speaking the only employee was willing to help. Now if he would of mentioned that they had the digital foot measure device that some other reviewers had mentioned, it would of been beneficial to the point that I might of upped my rating. Nonetheless, before leaving I knew that there was a better balance of New Balance deals and selection waiting for me at the Riverhead Tanger Outlets New Balance Store.

She felt she wanted a larger size. We went back today to exchange the pair for a larger size. As she was trying on, the owner of the store steps out from the back and in a nasty tone was like I thought we decided on the other pair. I also noticed her whispering to the sales girl in reference to my daughter. I could tell she was annoyed with us. I didn't understand the attitude. We we're keeping the shoes. It was just an exchange for another pair. As a customer, we have the right to be satisfied and ultimately we have the final decision in our purchase. My daughter was anxious prior to going to the store because she was afraid this was reaction she was going to get and this woman's didn't help in the least. I was highly disappointed in the treatment we received today. It was completely unnecessary. I will not be shopping there in the future. You have lost a customer.
