Feeling wholly unsatisfied after a puny meal at Jomax Barbecue in Metter, GA, I was completely vulnerable to the wily charms of a pile of baked goods on display at the register. Particularly fetching was the bright yellow lemon bar, tighly wrapped in plastic with just a dusting of powdered sugar. I don't usually go for this sort of dessert, not being a fan of the overly-sweet, but something about this bar was irresistable. So I didn't resist. And I didn't regret. Fantastic, through and through, and sweet but not the least bit cloying. And while confections like this tend to be gooey, this one had backbone, with a crust that offered just enough fork-resistance to give the whole thing some dignity. I know it's just a lemon bar, but if they do it this well, their other stuff must be worth a visit, too. Now where is Portal?

We spent a little over a week on Tybee Island, and I wanted to do something nice for our final day, since we were largely eating a lot of leftovers out of the fridge that accumulated all week... The owners did a fresh fruit pie for us that was just great - with fresh whipped cream on the side. If you are on the island, call them ahead (the need a few days) and put in an order for food or bakery items...they are great!

In January I contacted The Cake Mix in Ga to place an order for my son's groom's cake - (R2D2) finally we decided at the end of February to place the ordered and I paid half on it months before his wedding. I talked to Lewis a number of times before the wedding including the day before and he assured me that all was on schedule & the cake would be there. The day of the wedding on Saturday they called me at 12, to see if it would be ok if the cake was late & I told them no, that the wedding started at 4pm & it needs to be at the location by 3pm but this company never showed up for my only sons wedding ( No Grooms Cake). My husband missed a lot of the reception because he was dealing with them on the phone. I was told & emailed from Lewis that I would have a refund within 5 days (that was a lie). I had to contact my bank after two weeks to get my refund, then we started getting ugly phone calls from Lewis, when my husband called him back on the phone he wanted to know why did we go through the bank. He was mailing us a check, well the check finally came & I returned it back to the company the day I received it, with all the lies I did trust him at this point. I did trusted Lewis before the wedding & his company to make & deliver on time the grooms cake for my sons wedding and they LET US DOWN! It was very embarrassing for our family as well as embarrassing of having an empty groom's table. DO NOT USE THE CAKE MIX Company In Rincon, Georgia! Very Unprofessional, tells customers lies, does not refund money as told & very argumentative. We have communicated with Lewis (the owner) many times and to this point I believe he's a liar & very unprofessional! This experience will be in our families memory for life no grooms cake & an empty grooms table. Lewis & his company gave me NO TIME to find another cake. How does this man and his company sleep at night ripping off customers?. The Cake Mix Bakery should be Shut Down!!!!!
