We felt Marla's and her team's support through everything...from booking the hall, to finding out details (ten thousand times)...she does it all. In the 'What are we all about' section it states "At The Factory Lounge it's all about the party and we know how to throw the best party in town! We pride ourselves in paying attention to every last detail and we will create a memorable and distinctive event you will never forget." Bona fide clients who choose to use this venue based on the mission statement will surely be let down because: A)The Factory Lounge really doesn't know how to throw a party - the bar staff was underperforming their duties and crutching on excuses to deter paying customers B)There was no attention to detail because the head manager/owner was too busy arguing with people C)They claim to be the best party in town yet there is no substance. Customer satisfaction is far and few between. Albeit, I do agree with one part of their mission statement about creating an unforgettable event. Only I would put it a bit differently, the most unforgettable thing about the event was the constant tarnishing and arguing done by the lousy team working that night. When I asked to speak directly with the operating manager to rectify some issues surrounding the liquor agreement, I was dumbfounded because I was looking right at her: Teri Leese (Owner, Operator, Coordinator). She has been running this business for over 7 years. I am astonished by her uncooperative demeanor for someone with such tenure. Teri had reigned over the bar staff to disadvantage their customers, she was mostly unapproachable, she was disrespectful towards our party members - just to give you some perspective. Located just near Thornhill village this historic home, now looked after by the City of Markham is a hidden gem (if gems were the size of plantation style homes that is). It's a massive estate which has been carefully kept up over the years and adjusted slightly to accommodate events (such as parking out back) within it's sturdy original walls (I've seen them, the walls are made of hardened mud and straw - THAT's how old we're talking) - they LITERALLY DO NOT make them like this anymore. My fixation with it's structural integrity aside, what I really marveled at was the house itself. Large rooms on the main floor filled with natural light, fixtures carefully handcrafted abound and no expense spared on it's creation. I could gab on and on about how great this place looks and I'm sure you might yawn and say, "OK Kris, tell us about some food now, we're bored." To which I would respond by saying "Nay, Nay, wouldn't you rather hear about how the Heintzman House is haunted?" Some might find this fact absurd, others immediately turned off, but I'm sure a vast majority of you are thinking... coooooollll! We are still receiving rave reviews about the quality of the appetizers, main dishes and extras throughout the night. The portions were beyond and all of our guests were totally satisfied. We were overwhelmed with calls, texts and emails from our guests about the quality of everything mentioned above. We were required to provide kosher food for certain of our guests and they too were extremely satisfied.
