I went here to have my roots touched up. The gray has been growing out and I didn't have an opportunity to get it done. I called and made an appointment here and it was easy to get an appointment which is why I gave them two stars. When I got there I explained to the woman that I wanted my roots dyed medium brown. For about 15 minutes she argued with me and talked down to me like I was an absolute idiot. She was rude and condescending and she was wrong. I couldn't believe that someone in the service industry would be so unpleasant. Finally a younger woman came from the front of the salon and suggested a way to accomplish what this woman was saying she couldn't do. It was a different option than just dying my roots and I wasn't willing to pay the money for it. I also didn't want this woman doing anything more than putting some hair dye in my roots. I thought it was just me that she didn't like but then a young boy came in to have his haircut and she was just as rude and condescending to him and to his mother. She finally just dyed my roots medium brown as I had asked for and I decided not to get my haircut by her and I just left. At one point she even wanted me to sign a waiver. I would picket this place if I had the time. I walked in with beautiful sleek hair so long it was getting trapped under my armpits. I asked that two inches be taken off. What I ended up with was many many layers, the shortest barely to my chin! It sticks out all over the place and looks terrible! I spent years growing my hair out with a trim twice a year to get it so beautifully sleek and long. I am kicking myself for paying for this mess. I am so angry and brokenhearted. So if the saying is... you get what you pay for... i would agree with that when thinking of this place with a wee bit of an exception. It is REALLY far from my house..not like RI 10 min far... like 45 min far... but I drive all the way to the middle of nowhere because one of the hair stylists, Beth, is amazing. She is worth every penny + more. Always cuts my hair perfectly, has a wonderful attitude + hasn't made me balled yet. What makes me want to kill myself/ not get 5 stars is the waiting.... oh agony of the wait. So there is no way to make an appointment, you can't even call ahead + put your name on a list--they had to get rid of that after some crazy customer threw a GIANT hairy hissy fit. Thx lady. Thx for ruining it for everyone. You can however pop in, put your name on the list + go run an errand or two... just make sure to ask how many people are ahead of you... I would do an average of 30 min per person. If you want a cheap but decent haircut + to see the stylist who lost a finger cutting hair... just kidding... { didn't happen that way...but she is a good sport + will happily show it to you...} this is your kinda place. read more

I was really nervous to get my hair cut short. After chemo for years my bob hair cut was thin and scraggly. I decided to go even shorter to a pixie cut. I was a walk-in and Ally was happy to listen to my concerns and look at the pictures of the cut i was thinking about. Ally assured me that it was the right cut for me and within a half hour or so my hair was cut and styled and looking good! I am from Oregon re-settling into Rhode Island. I've only been here a month or two and is a bit complicated finding mechanics, hair specialist grocery stores etc with quality service. However, I randomly ran across this place! Let me tell you. You can't get any better than this place! I was able to get right in for a hair appointment that was going to take hours. Matt was my hair specialist did an amazing job I can't wait to go back and get highlights. The entire staff was friendly, funny and just overall amazing. So I go in for a simple wash and cut. Hairdresser washed my hair quickly. We now go for the haircut. She starts cutting my hair and then tells me she is gonna blow dry my hair a little so she could dry cut a little. Well she finished blowing drying my hair and I was not happy about getting it blow dried because I don"t like it so that annoyed me. Then she doesn't even cut anything after she blew dried and she's done with the haircut. I sat there thinking are you kidding me. She barley cut anything off and I was not happy. So now is check out time. Well with being unhappy and feeling rushed with my experience I get charged for a blow dry I NEVER asked for. This happened to me once before getting roped into paying for a blow dry I never asked for here. I've been very unhappy with my haircut and today my husband tells me my hair is uneven in the back. Funny thing is my entire haircut was uneven. I had to cut some to even it . My experience was extremely disappointing and won't be going back. Overrated !!! read more

I have been using this salon for better than 5 years. The staff is always accommodating and friendly. I do a cut and colour every six weeks and have never been disappointed. Just walking in the front door you get the friendly welcome. These girls are also very knowledgeable about the business. I went for a consultation initially as I hated the color of my hair but caitlin (i apologize if my spelling is wrong) helped me LOVE my hair. She fit me into the schedule last minute to give me a cut I sure needed. 3 inches later and I loved it so much. My hair is a brown to light purple ombré and she made me feel so pretty. I was there for a couple of hours so she ended up curling my hair for free. Although I didn't personally see Amber, she was also amazing as well and super sweet. I came to this salon with my 10 year old sister to get the tips of her hair dyed and washed and dried. The salon told me they do not have a menu of these prices and said that a trim and wash for her alone was $23.00. They said to blow dry her hair would be an additional $18.00. Who charges to dry hair, that is part of the The coloring is $90.00 for dying her tips. My total was $131.00, that is more than I have ever paid to get a wash, color and style and I am a adult. I started going to Fantastic Sams in Coventry last spring. I had to switch hairdressers (who by the way I loved) but due to my hectic work schedule it was near impossible for me to arrange a time to go in & see her. I was looking for a salon that not only took walk ins but was open in the evening. That is what drew me to FS. Since then I have been there 2 more times for a cut and once for a color. Each visit was a walk in and in the evening , I've always had a different hairdresser and never walked out of there with out feeling incredibly pleased with my hair. This last time I had Katie, I wish I knew the other girls name I previously had. Katie was a sweetheart just like the rest of them, personable, pleasant, and best of all a great hairdresser. I would recommend this salon to anyone who has a busy life, wants a great cut or color and maybe on a budget. I couldn't believe the costs, much cheaper than most salons out there. I had went to a very prestigious salon that I had a gift certificate for (I won't mention the name) but it was here in RI, I never wanted to cry so bad when I looked at what the girl did to my hair, & it was outrageously priced. Terrible!!! I will not go there ever again. Got the worst cut ive ever had and the manager Cirese would not even look at the cut, her words" I will not put you in the chair". she told me to grow it out then go back for a free cut!! is she ok? after I got the worst cut in my life she said to go back. I don't think so. I have short layers on the top and all over uneven layers that I cant do a thing with. Tell me how that can be fixed.. it cant! So I have to look like a mess for 8 weeks till this mess grows out. I told the stylist that I didn't want a blow out or a wet cut .. well that's just what I got. I liked my experience with the stylists. They are fantastic with the boys.... management however is a different story. My son's pants were ruined upon leaving. After calling and speaking with wonderful staff, the manager indicated that it could not have been their fault; then proceeded to hang up on my husband. Never, never again. I saw Cirese Roger here, she as an extremely talented stylist that I would let do my hair from now on, made me feel very comfortable and confident in what she was doing,The waiting room wasn't very big but it didn't need to be, they had a cute coffee station and magazines to go through while waiting your turn. loved the outcome of my cut and deep conditioning, made my hair feel amazingly healthy. read more
