The bad review praised/suggested la pico sita which is basically the best Mexican food in santa maria. Agreed. But, even la pico is questionable in standards. Best Mexican food is from mothers, grandmothers and aunts. And I promise you their methods aren't 100% sanitary. Even horrible national chain Chipotle failed with their "standards" ... I'll take love and respect over defrosting meat next to dirty dishes in the end game results. I say that with a grain of salt. I would prefer best practice, but when it comes to food, Mexican food specifically... there is a gray area. No one wants to get sick because of bad practices. I like their liquor, beer and wine. I tend to stick to the local vintners and pleased with the reasonable prices. I like that they have salads and sandwiches, but I was disappointed that they did not have the other deliciousness associated with a delicatessen: marinated olives, potato salad, mac salad, prosciutto and fresh deli meats. I ended up ordering a turkey & cheese sandwich, a garden salad and a bottle of red for my take-out lunch. Turns out I really liked the sandwich & salad. They were much better than I expected.
