Not sure why our other party got Salmon at an Italian restaurant in Italy but to each his own. If you want a glass of wine you only have two choices, white wine and red wine. No other available. This is probably because the restaurant doesn't carry large inventories of wine due to their small size and cost. Overall no way is this above an average restaurant. It's just okay. Heat up your lasagna better, teach your chef how to cook Salmon and expand your glasses of wine selections.

The server was very encouraging and was very excited to see the enjoyment of Italian food and culture in my eyes. The Ossobuco Di Manzo, was amazing! I recommend everyone to try it when in Milan, they have a great wine selection as well and we even enjoyed their Tiramisu and Grappa as a digestive to finish off our meal. Their cured hams for the antipasti, was also stellar. The ambiance was very clean, classic, and rustic, and best part of it all, very peaceful, great place to have a great conversation.

I hope that at least that means the sodium wasn't outrageous but it certainly was after the salt required to make it enjoyable. We also ordered a pizza to share. The sauce was flavorful and the cheese was generously applied but I've had better pizza in NYC. GF ordered a Caesar salad. She says, "um. It wasn't like, that remarkable". De Canto was my favorite caffe in Milano on my recent stay…read more The location was perfect right on the Piazza Della Scala. I stopped in after looking at the Galleria D'Italia, a space with free exhibits owned by Banca d'Intesa. This caffe has a warm wood interior. You may order at your table any of the food or drinks and the waitstaff will bring it to you. I spent a countless number of times at de Canto because I had just window-shopped along the Via Montenapoleone or had visited Rizzoli in the Galleria nearby or just wanted an oasis of quiet in this mad, chaotic city that was away from the crowds. There is no copperto so you don't pay extra to sit or stand. It's copperto free! I enjoyed having a cup of tea in each visit. If you order a coffee, you get a small piece of Venchi chocolate - a nice treat! Tired from shopping, from visiting the Duomo, from your crazy co-workers or sweetheart who has been nagging you all day, stop by de Canto. You will leave refreshed and feeling very zen.

The people at Taglio offer a wide variety of specialty coffee from different origins and where one can select the method (V60, Aeropress etc). Execution is good but their own roast is good (don't get me wrong it totally beats anything else from Italy) but they also have coffee from other roasters. All together the coffee itself is a reason to visit but Taglio is so much more as they also serve excellent food. The pasta I had was a nice example of well-made uncomplicated food. They are also a deli so sell a lot of charcuteries and cheeses as well as other food items (tea, coffee, beverages, granola etc) The service was nice, friendly, mostly English speaking and fairly fast and they also have free wifi (however with mandatory facebook login) so a place I will visit again. Only minor drawback would be the price level - dinner easily came to €50 per head and while not super-expensive it is still a bit on the high side for more of a neighborhood place.

Overall the food was totally fine. I'm an American so I can't critique the Italian too much. I wanted to order a chai latte but my waiter either hadn't heard of that or they didn't have them.
