During my pre-ops this week, I was cleared by required labs, chest x-rays, and primary dr. appointments. The one obstacle was a surprisingly low heart rate - which cause the pre-ops to not approve the surgery (as heart rate can lower during operations - so going into it with a low hear rate can be dangerous). I was referred to Dr. Rafii - who called me directly early Friday morning (9/5) and fit me into his busy schedule an hour later. This was my only chance to be seen/approved before traveling - which would have caused tremendous hardships rescheduling the upcoming surgery. Everyone in Dr. Rafii's office was extremely nice, competent, and timely. All exams were performed in detail and explained to me clearly. Dr. Rafii reviewed all and approved me - understanding that a low heart rate can be caused by a tall/athletic style - which fits me perfectly. He sent an approval electronically to my surgeon right away and I was able to walk to my primary care doctor's office - to approve the remainder of the requirements. Dr. Rafii was personable, deeply specialized, and went out of his way to do this for me - when he didn't have to. New patient for life!!! :)

Ok. Lets cut to the chase. You're Yelping cardiologists. That usually means something major is…read moreabout to go down. Whether for you or for someone you love...its time to take some action. That's where I was 2.5 years ago. A fellow co-worker of mine died at work because of a heart attack and it motivated me to examine my health. My family history is riddled with early heart disease and strokes. I had extremely high cholesterol, fatigue, chest pain, and other classic symptoms but being a young 46 year old at the time, and not overweight, I figured I was just overworked and stressed out. While that was true, Dr. Ben-Zur quickly gave me a reality check that something more was going on. He rapidly diagnosed my problem and convinced me that I needed an angiogram. That test showed that I had 2 blocked arteries at 100% and another at 95%. A triple bypass was drastically required. Throughout all of it, Dr. Ben-Zur was there supporting me and my family through the whirlwind process. As an interventionist, he didn't perform my bypass, but he helped me find a thoracic surgeon, and now Dr. Ben-Zur currently provides all of my post surgery aftercare. I owe him my life because I was on the fast track to a full on heart attack. We've formed a great health care relationship. Trying to find a cardiologist is difficult. There are so many choices. Who do you trust? Is this person knowledgeable? Are they personable? Can I depend on them with my life? Its these kinds of questions that actually prevent you from doing something because dealing with heart issues is scary. Its so easy to deny and think those chest pains are nothing and going to some random doctor in the phone book is sketchy at best. So, take these questions out of the equation and visit Dr. Ben-Zur to be certain. If you have a heart problem, he'll find it. He'll run the proper tests, you'll feel comfortable and I promise you he'll help alleviate your anxiety regarding your heart issue. Dr. Ben-Zur's team is also top notch. Incredibly personable, friendly, and always looking out for your best interest. They helped me with filing my disability claim during the recovery process. They keep me motivated to exercise and eat the right things. The office is relaxing and inviting. The walls are covered in photos and testimonies of the people who's lives Dr. Ben-Zur has saved. Take confidence that you're in the right place. Quite simply, he's the doctor you're looking for.

I had a severe sinus infection, which I get on occasion. I have been suffering from sinus issues since I was a child. When I called his office I was informed he had no appointment for several weeks, but they would put me on a waiting list. I was never called back. I recently received a reminder notice for my "annual checkup" made the appointment. When I mentioned this to Dr. Cohen he was quite dismissive and explained to me that he is only doing procedures and I should be calling my internist for these type of issues. I was quite taken back since he is an ENT and that is what ENT's typically deal with sinus issues. The next day I called the office manager to make sure that what he told me was correct and I did not misunderstand him. She then explained the same exact thing he told me. In other words I need to find another ENT that practices what a ENT does, help patients with chronic sinus issues. I was very fortunate to find another office that has been wonderful and caring. Their office is incredible and they also have the ability to do full sinus exrays and spent a great deal of time with me showing me why I have these issues and have scheduled me for a balloon procedure which was very obvious from the x rays. Dr. Cohen is a great Doctor, but his new office practice is quite unusual.

While every member of the ICU staff treated my brother with compassion, professionalism, and dignity, I would like to especially thank nurses Eric, Randy, and Olga, ICU physician Dr. Kakal, social worker Heather, and the entire ICU team for the exceptional care they provided throughout his 44-day ICU stay. Each person brought something unique to our family's experience. Olga was a source of comfort and reassurance whenever I felt overwhelmed and needed guidance. Eric showed extraordinary patience and gentleness with my brother, even on the most difficult days. No matter how challenging the situation became, he treated him with kindness and respect. Randy had a special way of connecting with my brother and earning his trust. When my brother wasn't listening to the rest of us, Randy somehow always knew how to reach him. Heather, our social worker, helped guide our family through difficult decisions and conversations with compassion and professionalism. Her support during an incredibly challenging time was deeply appreciated. Beyond providing excellent medical care, these individuals supported our family through an incredibly difficult journey. They reminded us that healthcare is not just about medicine, it is also about humanity. I would also like to recognize the volunteers at the visitor check-in desk on the first floor. They were always welcoming when I arrived to visit my brother, and after his passing, they showed our family tremendous compassion and kindness that I will never forget. My experience in the ICU made me proud to be a UCLA alumna. I will always be grateful for the care, dignity, and respect shown to my brother and our family. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Geraldo Cesar Chezz was on phone, unprofessional to patients/families and immediate co-workers who complained to other security staff on site. Geraldo Cesar Chezz went back and forth to the nurse's main secured area erratically as if playing like a child foregoing service to humans... He engaged in flirty personal conversations with nursing staff. Terrible! *** Dr. and work staff of visit were good. Communication to patient was a bit off and not clarified....Understanding that their is prioritization, severely extended wait time went unexplained until patient had to ask status. The two males in the imaging portion of the hospital told the elderly patient to put her necklace in her mouth? It could have broken inside her mouth and she could have choked, not to mention a daily wear necklace is dirty most of the time. The two males were confident in their request and acted as if I was out of line, when they went against a standard procedure for many years!
