This taxi service is a hit and miss. My husband and I have called in past and sometimes there is no availability. We usually use this mode of transportation if someone needs to go to a hospital in the late hours. But it was useless and dispatchers were rude. So unprofessional! I am still in disbelief as I sit here, an hour past pick-up time, with no taxi in sight and no phone call. In fact, when I called them, they hung up on me! This feels unbelievable because I used to utilize this taxi service regularly with no problems in the past, but what I experienced today has been plain unacceptable. This booking was supposed to be transportation to the airport, and being ghosted like this would have impacted being able to catch the flight had there not been backup plans. My sister's and I were visiting Seattle and received outstanding customer service from a Farwest Taxi driver this past weekend. I called Farwest Taxi, and the dispatcher informed me that a taxi would arrive within 10 minutes. However, with several cars parked on the street, we didn't immediately see the taxi when it arrived. Also, I missed the driver's call as it was noisy, and my phone was tucked away in my pocket. I called the dispatcher back, and she said I could call the driver directly. When I reached out, the driver, Mr. Singh promptly returned to pick us up within 5 minutes. Despite the missed call, the hard rain, and the heavy traffic, he was cheerful and pleasant throughout the ride. He ensured we reached the train station safely and on time. After arriving at the station, I realized my phone had fallen out of my pocket in the taxi. One of my sisters called my phone in an attempt to alert the driver my cell phone was in his taxi. Within five minutes, I spotted him at the train station, speaking to a security guard attempting to locate me. He personally returned my phone, going above and beyond my expectations. Cab 612 not only ran a stop sign and almost ran into me, but then proceeded to weave in and out of traffic on 2nd Ave with complete disregard for anyone else. When I called it in, I was told that the drivers owned their own cars and there was nothing the dispatcher could do. I had to get from Seattle Swedish Hospital to my home in Bainbridge Island (which involved taking the ferry across),after my stay being treated for a stroke. Farwest cab provided a driver that was personable; helpful; caring and one of the nicest driver I have ever encountered. I would like to recommend five stars for Driver #292 - Hussein. I have used this company for 28 years. They used to be good. I don't know what has gone wrong. New owners? New management? What??? All I know is today I called with plenty of warning for my taxi. More than an hour. They were an hour late. I tried calling them 3x to see what was wrong and get an ETA. They just kept hanging up on me. Worst ride of my life. When I reached my destination I asked to use my debit card which was on file. Driver stated no card you must pay cash. Paid the driver and he left. 10 minutes later he charged my debit card. Dispatch claimed no such driver existed. I'm exploring my next step in getting this matter resolved. read more

At the risk of losing my thousands of dollars of dental work throughout the decades, I write this review. We hailed a Farwest Taxi X'mas Eve around 6pm after taking the Light Rail in from Sea-Tac to the Westlake station. (This was the "surprise" my husband had planned upon our return to Seattle - dragging my 50lb+ hard case, sweet- berry-red-colored luggage filled with cheap Arizona state liquor from SeaTac through Rainier and Columbia City, then downtown Seattle.) There were plenty of cabs, but fate...or perhaps our obnoxious-looking luggage - drew the taxi driver to us. Now there's one thing about being scammed by a true Master - one who sizes you up and down with one look, then takes you for a joy ride through the streets of Seattle, slick with rain and dopey motorists, at 5mph LESS than the average driving speed in Seattle (ie. 15mph) - all the while utterly convincing you, his fare, with a sob story about his family of 10: a mother who needs a hip replacement and a wife who's in jail, because she broke her mother-in-law's hip with a baseball bat...by the end of that ride, you feel so bad for the guy - driving a lime green Prius on X'mas Eve - that you tip him an amount equal to the inflated cab fare. THEN there are those, like our driver, who didn't even TRY. Some highlights -- "Man, the business was TERRIBLE today...I had no riders at all!" - Farwest Taxi Driver, 6:05pm X'mas Eve, 2014, while grid-locked in downtown last-minute rush traffic "This business is gettin' so hard...Gas is $3.50/gallon!" - Farwest Taxi Driver, 6:35pm X'mas Eve, 2014, while driving by a Chevron Gas station advertising prices at less than $3.00/gallon. "Yeah, yeah, yeah...I know where is Ballard..." - Farwest Taxi Driver, 6:20pm X'mas Eve, 2014, not yet having gotten anywhere near a freeway or 99. "Do you think you can find the GAS PEDAL?" - My husband, as the Farwest Taxi Driver slowed down to 5mph while approaching a stoplight. I'm the first to commend a true scam artist when I meet one, but when the guy doesn't even try, you have to wonder ... do we REALLY look like folks who just fell off a turnip truck, or is it our luggage that gave us away? If you want to feel like An Idiot for a DAY, or even just for a 45 minute ride from downtown Seattle to Ballard, call a Farwest Taxi. read more

My friends and I have had nothing but trouble with Farwest. The dispatcher is always extremely rude and snippy, and possesses no customer service skills whatsoever. One driver spent the entire 40 minute ride trying to sell my friend on a pyramid scheme, and even asked for his personal information at the end of the journey. No thanks! These things would be enough for a poor review, but here's the kicker: called Farwest because I needed a ride to work this morning. Rude dispatcher tells me it should take 10-20 mins for a cab to arrive. I wait 40. No cab, no phone call. I call them and am told, "oh sorry, we don't service your area," never mind the fact that they've been picking a friend up here every week for the past month! And if they really don't service my area, shouldn't they have told me that during the initial phone call? Needless to say, I will not be using Farwest again, and I won't let anyone I know use them either. read more

As far as cab companies in this city go - it's FarWest every time for me. They're always super fast. And usually kind of funny. Also, I go to the airport at the crack of dawn a lot. Pre-crack, actually. Before the buses are running. I call FarWest the night before, and they've never not been here at precisely 4:30am. I like them. Also, Yellow Cab can suck it. They take forEVAH. Once you've waited on hold for 5 minutes just to order the damn cab, they tell you it'll be 30 mins, and then it takes 45. Puh-lease. read more

Farwest cab, the green ones. Very unprofessional. We asked the hotel to hail a cab for us to head to the train station. The hotel said no problem, they are stacked up around the corner. So we didn't have a choice, we just got into the first one that came. The driver didn't say a word to us, didn't get out to open doors or trunk, either on the pickup or the drop off. I was in fear he was going to take off before we could get our bags out. The windows started to fog up so he opened the windows instead of turning on the defroster, it was also a chilly morning. We called 19 hours before we needed to be picked up. We scheduled a ride to the airport at 3:15a for a 5:30a flight. They called at 3:16a to say they weren't coming, at all. 1. Don't promise something you can't deliver. 2. If you can't deliver, especially when someone's catching a plane, give more notice than -1 min notice. I'm giving Farwest some Yelp love. I got stuck at UW after missing a connection for a bus by 10 feet. Yeah. The bus driver didn't see me running frantically to catch him and none of the dolts at the bus stop who saw me running towards them and the bus bothered to ask the driver to wait for me. Jerks. I'm new to Seattle and don't have a car and was on my way to a doctor's appointment. That was the only bus line that went in my direction and the next one wasn't coming for another 30 minutes. In a panic I googled and called Farwest. I explained my situation to the dispatcher, who answered right away, and was helpful when I said I didn't know my exact address for a pick up. She asked me for a business name and I told her the one that I saw and she said there'd be a taxi for me in 10-20 minutes. To hedge my bets, because 20 minutes was a worrisome possibility, I also called Yellow Cab and had a piss poor customer service experience with them. You can look up my Yelp review for that one; I agree with Emily R. They can suck it. Farwest arrived within 10 minutes, the taxi cab driver was professional, and safely got me to my appointment on time. I have never taken this taxi service. HOWEVER I drove behind one. First of all, taxi 988 ran a stop sign off Talbot Road in Renton, WA and ended up cutting me off. I had to slam on my breaks in order to not hit it. Let's not take taxis that run stop signs. read more

First we called at 10:30pm and they said it would take about 15 minutes for the taxi to get to our location. We called the taxi for some guests in our restaurant as we were already closed. 30 minutes goes by and we call them again and ask how much longer since the guests have been waiting, they cut us off before we were able to fully ask our question and said "we're working on it", then they hung up. After almost 1 HOUR, we call back AGAIN. They also said that the taxi had come by, but didn't see anyone so they drove off. We were staring at the door the whole time and didn't see 1 taxi drive by so what they said was false. My manager was talking to them on the phone and they were so rude and had an attitude and eventually hung up on us. Absolute worst customer service through the telephone!!!!! read more

This company is terrible at showing up, not only not on time but no showing up AT ALL. Called for a cab at 4:30 pm from the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle. Dispatcher said it would be 10 to 15 minutes. No problem. An hour later, at 5:30 pm, still no taxi. Called dispatch to acquire where the driver was. Dispatch said he's on the way and it would be 10 to 15 minutes. In the meantime, another of their drivers delivered some blood to the hospital. On his way back to his cab, I asked if he didn't have a fare, could he take us to our hotel. He said sure but he needed to call dispatch first. This is the unbelievable part - dispatch actually told him not to pick us up because they had another driver on his way. So, instead of thinking about customer service, this company chose to put their own interests above ours! So, the wife and I wait another 30 minutes in the cold, and still no taxi. It's now been over 1-1/2 hours. Finally gave up and called Yellow Cab who performed very well. I will NEVER call this cab company EVER again! read more

Took a cab from the Westin to the Sea-tac..... asked to pay charge, and tip in cash, and got a whole lot of attitude. I know these guys drive for a living, but man.... this guy was either on the brakes, or on the gas.... HARD.... quite annoying. Took Farwest a few weeks ago in an attempt to go from the W Seattle to King Street Station ... 1 mile away. 7am on a Saturday - no traffic, though some closures for a marathon. Each time the driver saw a closure, he cursed profusely, complaining to a friend by phone. Several detours later -- he decided he couldn't get us there. We walked the rest of the way, 6 blocks with luggage and child, to catch the train. Anyway, the police officer where the cab left us said we would have been allowed through. Either the driver was inexperienced, or in a rush to get some place else. read more

We got in Farwest taxi #628, it was going very slow down a road with green lights all ahead. When I asked the driver why he was going half the speed limit, he replied that my girlfriend and I were "to heavy to make sudden stops" and then when my girlfriend pointed out that she was disabled and walked with a cane, he changed his answer to the light was red (a light 3 blocks down) and he couldn't make his car go fast enough Down the hill. If you don't have reliable brakes, don't drive your freaking cab. If you don't have an engine that can handle 2 somewhat hefty people, don't drive a cab. Either way, don't use Farwest. They are unapologetically rude, and incompitent. I will never use this cab company again, and strongly recommend that no one else does either. Especially if your disabled. read more

I called Farwest Taxi in the morning for an evening pickup that was extremely important to me. I have cars, I can take a bus or water taxi, but I timed everything around a quick cab ride and no available parking. Since Yellow Cab had been 1/2 hour late a few days earlier for a similar request, I called Farwest. They were late. After 15 minutes, the dispatcher said the driver was 3 minutes away. 15 minutes later the driver "had a flat", 15 minutes later no other driver. Seemingly randomly, a Yellow Cab drove by and I grabbed it instead, miraculously making to the event just before it was too late. I think it's time to check out Uber. Taxi service in Seattle just sucks so badly, especially Farwest. Getting picked up at the airport, or on the street by a taxi doesn't see a problem downtown (but while I'm here, I'll also avoid the "Flat Rate" taxi - they are flat rates seemingly made up on the spot), but prearranging a cab ride here is an aggravating experience in general. read more

The second time I called to get picked up from the hotel to another destination, the agent said they'd take 15-30 minutes. I waited for an hour and there was still no taxi. I called back and said they were sorry but they couldn't find any drivers near my location. If anything, they should've called and said something before making me wait an hour so I could find a new driver. read more

The dispatcher said it would take 40 minutes to get a taxi to us. After waiting 40 minutes we called back to see what was taking so long. They told us that they decided not to send one because it was too far. They should have told us that they decided to cancel the taxi, instead they let us wait around for nothing and my friend was almost late to the airport. Not only were they apathetic to the situation they put us in but when I asked him who I could speak to about this (such as a supervisor) the dispatcher hung up on me! I had to figure out who was in charge myself and call them directly - and they still haven't called me back. The dispatchers from Farwest Taxi are always rude, but now I know how unreliable they are too. Any company with this kind of culture and customer treatment is probably one you don't want to give your credit card or debit card information to. Don't use them. read more

1. Called to get a taxi at a specific time. They said they did not do that for my neighborhood and to call when I'm ready. 2. Called when I was ready. She said he'd be there in 20-40 minutes. Super rude tone...kind of like she was pissed that I was calling. 3. Cab driver called immediately after and said he would be there in 40-50 minutes because of traffic. No problem. 4. An hour and a half later I called him back. He didn't answer. 5. I call the cab company. Same lady from before. She says "He couldn't find you" as soon as she picks up. I ask why he didn't call. She answers "it's rush hour. Your trip is not a priority trip. I suggest finding another means of transportation". I hung up. I can't even believe this place is still in business. read more

I was waiting for a car service for an interview, due to some unclear instructions from the car service I was unsure what to do, and thought the taxi might have been sent. The taxi driver clearly realized my confusion and in response to my questions "are you here to pick someone up?"
