The friendly multilingual staff flip between speaking English and Spanish to customers. They're quick to tell a joke and welcome you inside the restaurant with a ¡Bienvenidos a nuestra casa! Best staff! They make you feel like one of the family! It was a delight to my ears to hear Spanish language being spoken. It was also a delight to listen to the vibrant music played inside the establishment. So many great songs. I heard a Rodrigo Amarante song being played, followed by popular hit songs. From sizzling fajitas, to mouth watering enchiladas, their menu celebrates Mexico's rich culinary heritage. The tortilla chips and salsa were fresh. They charge extra if you ask for another serving. The chicken chimichanga and the chicken* (and beef) enchiladas suizas were great. They were served with rice, refried beans and salad. The pozole was big enough to have as a main dish. It was a fiesta of flavours! Nestled in the heart of Port Perry, this restaurant is a gathering place where friends and families can create lasting memories.

First, let me address items that could be improved... - The starter chips and salsa, while complimentary, are too small. The serving should be at least double the size, and the chips should be warm. However, if you ask for more, they will happily give you another serving. - The desserts, we tried the Sopapilla and the Churros. For the Sopapilla, again they should be warm and rather than drizzle, provide the caramel or chocolate so a person can dunk the pastries. For the Churros, they were over fried, very oily. So less time in the fryer, more light and fluffy. And again, no drizzle, with Churros you want to dunk into the caramel or chocolate, a lot!!! Ok that's it for the improvements. The rest of the experience was excellent. Starting with the drinks... great stuff! Great flavor, great presentation and they pack a punch. For the entrees, we had combo dishes that included enchiladas, burritos and chimichangas... mostly with beef and chicken, along with various hot sauces. They were excellent and good size portions. We've been to a lot of Mexican restaurants over the years, the food here was definitely one of the better ones we've had. The restaurant is on the small side for sure, but the atmosphere is great and the service very friendly. In the summer they have a great little outdoor patio with lots of shade. They have lots of parking and is perfect location if you plan on spending the afternoon in the park or go for a walk downtown.

I typically don't like sauce on my steak but the spicy and tart tomatillo sauce that is over the steak is fabulous. I like my salsa chunky but the rest of my family like the thin salsa. As far as the location goes, I must say they have very limited parking spots(but we found a spot). Parking spots were tight. However, there is ample parking at the big box store across the street, and they are on a bus line. They are not near other restaurants but stand out based on the loud Mexican music and big sign that has a Mexican flag Over all the service was friendly, attentive, and quick(especially considering how packed it was) They give nachos on arrival, sort of like how restaurants normally give bread, which were okay , but the salsa was bland. The lime margarita was amazing. I got the beef enchiladas, which were tender and loaded with food didn't quite pack the punch I was hoping for. My mom and my wife got the nachos with chicken;they didn't like it. So I tried it to confirm the following: the nacho platter with chicken was bland, with very little crunch. It looked like it was sitting around for a while as far as value goes, my wife's beer was more expensive than my margarita, which is a plus if you are an alcohol drinker like me but not for a beer drinker, obviously. The portions on my plate were small, but there were so many different items on the plate that blended together fairly well that the small portions didn't matter too much. And lastly, the smell of the place was nonexistent, which is odd IMO for a small restaurant.

That said there're some concessions to Tex-Mex, with the burritos and American cheese on the nachos. We were greeted with servings of what seemed to be light versions of nachos & 2 sopes (like the corresponding items on their menu, but with fewer toppings). The nachos used nice, crispy, firm tortilla chips. The sopes were decent (though I'm not a fan of Hispanic corn dough, since it's quite heavy & has a strong taste) Sopa de tortilla was very rich & tasty & slightly spicy. There was a nice texture from the tortilla bits & pork rinds. Caldo de pollo was good but it was just chicken soup with rice. The tacos were pretty big. Campechano was mostly beef & sausage inside, but was dry with a flat flavour. Yet, it was not the fault of the meat - on its own the stuffing was pretty tasty - it just didn't work in the taco. Camaron was pretty good it had a lot of herbs & had a fresh taste especially with the sour cream. Gringa was good: like Mexican pulled pork - more onion, more sour & less sweet than American pulled pork. Pastor was tasty spiced pork with pineapple, though it was better on its own outside the taco. Pambazo was a soft, very potatoey bun which was pretty good. Enchilada mole was quite small - you could just order 1. It was decent. The lime agua fresca drink had a good lime taste & tasted fresh & homemade. The desserts were decent too. 3 milks cake was pretty good - I've had moister but this was moist & rich. Bunuelos (fried dough) were decent - fresh with nice cinnamon, but very thin so they were all crunch; they were also a bit oily. Ice cream was normal.

We were greeted by the owner who let us pick a spot on their patio and brought us chips and salsa on the house, and waters. I got the horchata which was delicious and my friend got the Mexican Coke. We stayed to watch the fifa game and ordered a couple of tamarind margaritas slushies made by this wife. I wouldn't normally go for tamarind but these were phenomenal! Sweet and spicy, refreshing and massive, I would come back just for this! They also treated us to free Paloma's which were so refreshing and tasty, it was sweet but it felt like a clean drink. The patio only has a few spots was it was nicely contained in its own area away from the sidewalk but close enough to people watch. Finally the staff were so attentive and kind. They seem like such a sweet family and make I'll definitely come back to try their food!

The fried chips were nicely crunchy, which is a perfect pairing. My favourote dish of the meal. - Burrito Bowl: Got this with suadero, which was tender yet chewy. The overall bowl also had a freshness to it to pair with the salty beef, as it had a good amount of veggies, rice and beans. - Fajitas: Got this with shrimp and cheese. The shrimp was tasty though a bit rubbery, loved the generous amount of cheese. Overall dish was a tad too salty for my taste. Place has a lively vibe. Prices are what prices are these days. Service is super attentive, and kitchen is quick. Overall, a good spot if you're in the mood for some Mexican cuisine.

Well, little did I know, there had been a fire which had caused the closure of businesses in the strip mall. First of all, there are too many table and chairs in the restaurant area. So much so that if someone has their chair pulled out a little bit, it's really difficult to sit comfortably. Secondly, it is very obvious when they are busy the server (singular) becomes overwhelmed very quickly. We didn't receive chips and salsa as is normal for a restaurant like this. Also my drink never came because the person said he was off his rhythm. I don't think it's a rhythm, I think you have too many tables for a restaurant of that size, even without taking into account take out orders or delivery apps. The food I had was very good though. I loved the mole sauce, it was not too choclatey, and not too spicy. It was very well balanced. My partner had the Pollo poblano though, and there was not a poblano to be seen. I was initially confused why they had Pollo Con Mole and Pollo Poblano but no Mole Poblano. I think it's because there's no poblano used. At the same time it is the best Mexican food restaurant in Pickering.
