I give the manager credit for apologizing and doing what she could but Expats beware. If you're craving a good steak, save your $ and go to Wolfgang's. I understand that things are different here in the PI. I'm amazed that there is so much variety among restaurants. But it is not the fault of the locals when the restaurant company gives them cheap tools and products just to cut costs! Bad cooking is something else, though. A horrible experience at a Mesa restaurant actually made my wife go back in the kitchen and show the chef in training how to make adobo! Overall, I love the PI and the local cuisine. This wins by default, but always with good reason. They're the best! I'm just really intrigued why they made their counters like that. It's so hard to communicate. But that's just me. Being a creature of habit, I always end up going for their steak burrito. That handful mix of Spanish rice, meat, beans, onions and sour cream (yum!) is great on its own, but put guacamole in it and it's phenomenal. The burrito is quite big and really filling so I usually eat the first half when I'm there and save the remaining half when I get hungry at home. I can eat all of it in one sitting, but I might not be able to participate in devouring the Blueberry Freedom Toast that is our dessert. I may always order burrito, but I also always take a bite from my siblings' orders so I know that their quesadilla is sinfully cheesy, and their fried chicken leans a bit on the spicy side. My brother's favorite breakfast burrito is also habit-forming. Still, I'm making a mental note to try more items on their menu (like the milkshake and nachos) on my next visit.

Since I'm a self-confessed Mexican food nut, and since there isn't a real Mexican restaurant anywhere near Better Living, Army Navy is the only place to go to get my burrito or taco fix. And boy are their tacos gooooood. My wife and daughter both make excellent tacos but they don't do it often enough because it takes too much time and effort to whip up a taco meal for all. The same is true for burritos. Every once in a while, I think to myself that this would be a good time for a taco or burrito. Also, because I've always considered breakfast as my favorite meal of the day, having it anytime is a terrific plus. This place can be easily missed if you're along Sucat road because it's quite discreet-looking and has no parking. But inside is a different story--the vibe is reminiscent of Bellini's. It's cozy, homey, and filled with Italian-themed decor, a leaning tower of Pisa, and so on. You'll forget that you're in bustling, polluted Sucat road! We got the Aglia Oglio Pasta, and a Mushroom Risotto (that they made vegan just for me! Just ask nicely). Both dishes were really topnotch and exceeded our expectations (though to be honest, we had none at this particular time. I mean, any meal after a 10-hour trip from Vigan, Ilocos will be satisfying). Their servers are very accommodating, and at that time they were offering us these really fresh, gigantic portobello mushrooms they had that looked so tempting (but were quite pricey--though to be honest, I STILL think about that moment. What if we had gotten those mushrooms?!?! WHAT IF). Just like Bellini's, at the end of your meal you are treated to a complimentary jigger of Italian sweet wine. Bellisimo!
